Mr. Lucky 0 Posted July 17, 2009 One aspect of OFF that helps it be the one to set the bar for all sims is the surprises that crop up even after playing it a while. I just got an escort recon mission, but the message said that all bomber aircraft are involved elsewhere, so the CO handed the camera to my wingman and we were to fly the mission. I had to make sure he came back. To make it more interesting, my wingman is on leave, so it was given to one of the other two in my flight but I had no way of knowing which one, so I had to make sure BOTH came back. Incredible job you guys did. Always keeps it interesting.
Olham 164 Posted July 17, 2009 Yes, Mr.Lucky - I had an interesting encounter yesterday. I flew my "Full DiD" pilot (no Labels, Warp, TAC), and when I fly that tough, I am really always looking around like a monkey! We had to patrol the lines, and when I turned round, I had the sun behind my left shoulder. Now I really checked again and again, but when the Nieuport 17 became visible, it was already pretty close. I turned like hell, to get that seemingly lonely hunter, and chased him down as steep as I could dive in an Albatros. But I had just fired a full burst into his light grey crate, when his wingman shot me badly. They where 4 fighters - I hadn't seen them in the sun! I was lucky to make it just behind my lines to land somewhere. Mr.Lucky, if you're not on the map yet - would you give me your town and country for that (PM if you like)? You already have me on there. Southeat USA. Those N17's are sneaky. Doing my neck exercises one day, I looked back and counted my wingmen, one...two...three....four...hey! I only had three! One was a N17 sneaking up on us which, after turning like a monkey and signalling to attack became many (I lost count). Like you, I was quickly looking for a place to land. That silver is hard to see against clouds.
