Broadside uda Barn Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 (edited) Finally decided to delete the long line of pilots who are dead/captured (havent had even one escape from prison yet). I was able to delete about 20 of them, but of the 8 pilots left, when I try to delete them I get an error message from the OFFManager: UnlimitedPIlot.xml file error. Tried restarting OFF, and a few other things. Any idea how I can delete/retire these last few pilots? (sometimes I dont get the error, but it still wont delete/remove them) Edited July 17, 2009 by Broadside uda Barn
Broadside uda Barn Posted July 17, 2009 Author Posted July 17, 2009 doesnt matter. Deleting the few pilots I did seems to have corrupted OFF. Now it locks on me on startup after the "contact, clear" screen. Starting a thread in the help forum.
Bullethead Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 (edited) Stange. I delete pilots all the time, right after they die, so I don't have to wade through them all and be tormented by their ghosts just to select somebody still alive. I play an MP3 of "Taps" (or whatever is appropriate for their nationality) and knock back a shot of whiskey while I'm doing it, and then they're forgotten. "Aufwiedersehen ins Massengrab, wir sehen uns wieder ins Massengrab", and all that. But the Huns never take me alive! When over Hunland, I fight until the screen goes black or red. Thus, I've never deleted any POW pilots. That might be the difference here. Perhaps the game periodically checks captured pilots to see if they might now finally escape, and deleting them thus screws it up. Edited July 18, 2009 by Bullethead
Broadside uda Barn Posted July 18, 2009 Author Posted July 18, 2009 I reinstalled, and it's fine now. Guess it had something to do with the pilots being deleted. Lesson learned :)
Duce Lewis Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I reinstalled, and it's fine now. Guess it had something to do with the pilots being deleted. Lesson learned :) Well, it's too late now but there's a Manual Install feature in Workshops It's a good quick fix attempt before doing the more drastic method
Duce Lewis Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Don't know the details But I'm guessing it does a limited reset of the OFF software No gurantees, but it's good for fixing little glitchy problems like unlimitedpilots.xml errors It worked for me in P2
+Olham Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 BuB - the 'Manual install' does repair things and is very useful there, but be aware, that, as far as I know, it will erase all pilots - it's like a reset, so to say.
