Editing the aces list

I'd like to see my dawn patrol of Camels engage a flight of Albs and see "Jasta 6 Ace Olham" amongst them! Or how about an REF8 pilot named "Winder"? Or an EIII pilot named "Uncleal"

 

 

 

Is there a way to edit the aces name file, so that we can input various OFF pilots names from the forums? This is kind of in the line of the OFF planet map, but would be a great way to add a bit more flavor to the game.

 

It shouldnt be that hard to do...

and if they are all aces, (since we are all serious virtual pilots here)

then we can be assured of a decent engagement when we see one of these fearsome pilots.

 

If we can link a few of them together, that would be great as well. The flying circus? Pshhh! How about OBD squadron?

Against Camels, I'd prefer the Dr.1 - in the Albatros versions, it would be almost impossible against

a real human pilot.

I know you can add names to the name list of each Nation, but not to the ace list, I believe.

But wingmen may well have names of your friends.

There must be a way to edit the aces list...is it hard coded into the game?

Yeah, it could be done.

Two ways:

1)easy way - replace the aces in a current squadron. Just have to back up the files you mangle, so that you could replace the originals.

2) add a new squadron or two. That would require editing all kinds of files, and putting stuff through the blender. We could do it, but that would mean robbing Peter to pay Paul: we are currently working on rebuilding some of the current squadrons, and adding new ones, and any time we put into it would lengthen delivery of 'broadening the war'.

Hrm...replacing the aces I can do. The squadron I cant.

Any way that in adding new squadrons you could add an OBD squadron? Would be a great egg to find, especially if it was a travelling squadron...
