mdripley Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I just received my track IR 5 and I must say this really is a must have for any sim lover. All I can say is wow it really adds to the immersion, not to mention SA is much better with it. I just need to get used to it as I can only fly one mission and then I need to take a break. Thanks to all the menbers who have provided excellent advice on TIR as well as OFF in general. Quote
Check Six Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Yes, you DO get neck strain from twisting around looking for hun (or krumpets). If you don't have your TAC on, you'd be constantly swivelling your neck like an owl. You'll get used to it. But one mission, then a break is recommended. If you fly whilst tired or distracted etc, your favourite pilot might just "go West". Quote
mdripley Posted September 12, 2009 Author Posted September 12, 2009 (edited) No worries here none of my pilots has lasted longer than 5 or 6 missions before dying usually by mid air collision this will definetly help in staying alert to those around me. Actually I believe I may be the earliest kamakaze pilot as I have collided with more than a couple of my intended victims. Edited September 12, 2009 by mdripley Quote
Creaghorn Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 you'll get used to it. in any case IMHO it's the most important thing for a sim. when i used it for the first couple times, i was also very exhausted after a sortie and needed a break. felt like i had 5 rides in a rollercoaster Quote
mdripley Posted September 12, 2009 Author Posted September 12, 2009 Having such freedom of view, is somewhat overwhelming. The only problem I had was in trying to get a gunsite view as my view was over the guns or top wing. Quote
Creaghorn Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Having such freedom of view, is somewhat overwhelming. The only problem I had was in trying to get a gunsite view as my view was over the guns or top wing. it's realistic to have the view somewhat above your guns. when you aim, you have to crouch a little bit. but if you are above your topwing, that's too high. when you enter the theater at the beginning, then try to sit purposely extremely high. then center your trackir in that position. if you then sit as usual, your view should be much lower. mdripley Posted September 13, 2009 Author Posted September 13, 2009 Thanks creaghorn and uncleal for the advise and for the tips you put together I have just finished reading it in its entirety a good read I must say. I am off to make some adjustments to my controls this Sim just keeps getting better. Quote
