Siggi Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 The old dear (my mother) has just been rooting through some old stuff and has found one of my grandfather's service/workshop manuals, official govt issue, dated 1916. It has all the RFC planes and engines up to that date, from the Longhorn. Loads of seperate type-written addenums also. Looking through it she reckons you could build one from scratch with what's in it. "I'll send it to you." she says. NO!!! says I. I'll be picking it up next time I visit her.
Siggi Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 42 pages plus a mass of fold-outs in the back, plus all the type-written bits, the lot classified as Highly Secret.
ONETINSOLDIER Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 very cool! I love finding old stuff like that.
+RAF_Louvert Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 . Super! I agree with Mr. Lucky, scan and upload if you can Siggi. I'd love to read through that manual. You have a rare one there Sir. .
zoomzoom Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Wow, you lucky rascal. That'll be a fun bit to look through. ZZ.
Rickitycrate Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 From your grandad's hands to your's. That's a special addition to your collection. You'll be seeing mum soon I venture. I might even visit my mother if she had that kind of bait.

From what my parents told me, it was some pretty cool loot... .

So I agree. Siggi, have some sympathy for us po' folks and upload your stash. Edited January 4, 2010 by Bullethead
Siggi Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 The old dear lives up in Lincolnshire, 300 miles away, and it's pretty expensive to go visit her. I usually take the kids up two or three times a year and stay for a week or a weekend. My brother's up there too though, and due to visit me soon, so I'll try and get him to bring the stuff. I will, of course, scan the lot and disseminate it onto the web, where it'll be safer (amongst other considerations).
UK_Widowmaker Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Strange thing...But Lincs always seems to be 300 miles away from anywhere!
Siggi Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 Strange thing...But Lincs always seems to be 300 miles away from anywhere! In a 3.5 Shogun at £1.10 a liter it might as well be Siberia.
