I/O Device error on installation

Just got OFF delivered today, but have run into an install problem. I've searched on here and tried the clean reinstall..no dice. I'm running Vista

I've got the CD version of CFS 3.1 installed and it runs no problem. Most of OFF installs great, but it hangs up about 90% of the way through. After about 5 minutes an error message pops up informing me that there was an error while trying to copy the file \WW1Scenery\Seasons\Winter\WinterFull\WFrontblank_3.dds

The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error

 

This is second install try and same issue. This was a clean install on a working CFS 3.1. Would love some help as I'm dying to get playing this. Been waiting years for something like this.

 

 

EDIT So I told it to ignore the file, same error happened with the WFrontblank_4.dds will ignore that and see what happens.

not an expert on off but a thirdwire person i believe its the instal disc that is bad might think about get a refund and a new one plus if your dvd/cd drive works well for cf3 and your vista is up to date then its off that might be the cause,maybe the manufacturere did a faulty job info being copied to dvd/cd. on the other hand if your cd/dvd drive is the cause might thinking of replacing. testing is musy many scenarios

EDIT 2 Same thing, told it to ignore previous file above. This time error is on \\\WinterFull\WinGrassBase01.dds will ignore and see what happens

This thought crossed my mind. Would be good as there is hope, but too bad I'd have to wait. Oh well.

Try giving the disc a good cleaning. You can use rubbing alcohol. Use very soft cotton cloth and clean disc radially from the hole out to the edge. Don't clean in circles.
