tracert dos command

Recommended Posts

one things i got out my session with the tech is this neat command. it will show you all the nodes a ping from you to another computer passes thru, and the latency between nodes.

open up a dos box, (command promt), and type tracert xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where the xx is someones ip....

I have a little Freeware program that was made for Ultima Online called UOTrace many years ago that does pings and route traces both singular and continuous showing time and if any packets are lost. Be glad to post it up if I knew it was ok to do so. It's only 88KB.

Zipped it into a .rar for easier downloading, this should get it - UOTrace

It will create an ini file when 1st started and ask to find the UO Server List, just say NO and when it runs select Options/Advanced. It's pretty straightforward, put an IP in and you can Traceroute it to see how many jumps to the destination IP or Poll it to look for lost packets, etc.
