ArgonV Posted May 19, 2004 Posted May 19, 2004 From mace: Inspired by the extraordinary work being done in FS WWI, I’ve converted the Albatros D.I into a new floatplane model the Albatros W.IV. Thanks to Recon3, ArgonV and Wakeup Tailgunner for their outstanding original Albatros D.I! Be kind with any comments this is version 1.0. I’ve reduced the top speed of the plane down from 109mph to 102mph and added a little drag for the floats. This floatplane operates from a shore base in the Dover terrain. There are seven training missions and I’ve used standard SDSOE squadrons and not WWI ones to make it easy for people without a WWI plane pack to fly this aircraft. Thanks to the generosity of Snick, the Albatros W.IV floatplane (3,459k) can be downloaded from: http://www.b-dod.com/wingsoverwater/WIVFloat_v1.0.zip Also, for those who DO NOT have FS WWI plane pack 3 you will need to download some extra files (126k) from: http://www.b-dod.com/wingsoverwater/WIVextras.zip cheers mace Floatplane Background: The Albatros Flugzeugwerke in 1916 re-developed it's outstanding D.I fighter to meet the requirements of the Military Command of Germany for a floatplane fighter to protect naval bases along the Flanders Coast. After the fitting of twin floats and some minor airframe changes, the result was the Albatros W.IV. A total of 118 Albatros W.IV's were built. These aircraft serving with combat units along the North Sea and in Turkey until the end of hostilities In the down load there are seven training missions for the Dover terrain and a floatplane base.
