What could be worst than 1 fried hardisk?

One client just brought me his rig because the damn machine wouldn't startup.

This rig has 4 hardisks.... So what can be worst than 1 fried hardisk?

3 fried hardisks.

There's a nice burning smell in my shop.:heat:

Oh my god - was it your fault, von Paulus. Did he kill you?

Not my fault; I'm 100% sure they were shorted already. That's why the rig wouldn't power on even after replacing PSU.

So I disconnect all the four and connect one by one. Number one... smoke. Switch off. Number two... more smoke. Switch off. Number three... No smoke, but the rig would startup but would instantaneously powered off. At this point, the client was in a catatonic state. He wasn't sound very coherently. But I understood him enough to know that the backups were on the fourth. So I breath deep, like I do in these situations, ask for the force to be with me, and powered on.

And guess what? The fourth was ok. Lucky guy. Just for looking at the guy, I understood that he reached the third level of Nirvana.

For me it's ok. I just love the smell of napalm, sorry meant fried disks, in the morning. (joking)
