+Dave 2,322 Posted May 5, 2010 For 42 of his 55 years in broadcasting, Ernie Harwell called Detroit Tiger games. If you are a baseball fan then you knew who he was. He passed at age 92. I grew up listening to him, so did my dad. Man could he call a game. He was a class act, great announcer and a great human being. Tigers baseball will be never be the same. If you said Tigers, there was Ernie. When he retired from calling Tigers games in 2002 it was a sad day. With his passing a baseball will never be the same. Thanks Ernie, you will be missed.
