Same for me here, Wayfarer; some people call me a "damn romantic" and such.

But melancholy is the spirit, the fuel of all art, I read somewhere.

 

Perhaps their own sadness comes up too much, when they see or hear such

melancholic words, pictures or tunes?

Maybe they only need to shield themselves from something, that they are afraid

it could wash them away?

Olham, many thanks for the translation of the Georg Trakl poem. It is very dark, and very sad...and very, very moving.

 

Sometimes you must let the sadness of such experiences wash you clean before you can ever really move on from them.
