+Olham Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) Mikael Carlson's Dreidecker takeoff and landing: ...and air to air. This second video shows a good close-on view at the pilot over his guns; and some rapid low flying. Edited November 1, 2010 by Olham
Manuc Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Are these two different planes or is it just another painting ?
tranquillo Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 It's a big job changing the colour scheme so maybe it is 2 different planes . Nice landing in vid 1.
+Olham Posted November 1, 2010 Author Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) Not sure - but he seems to have several WW1 planes. Edit: I seem to have got it mixed up: the upper video must be someone else. Edited November 1, 2010 by Olham
Guest British_eh Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Hi there, I have some more pictures that Mikael sent me re: his Dr.I with the only Oberursel Engine fitted to a replica. This of course makes his aircraft virtually the same performance wise, as the original. Only the first video is Mikael's plane. His collection doesn't seem available on the web any more? Anyway, I received some interesting comments from him regarding the handling characteristics of the aircraft and certainly hope, having seen a new Dr.I in P4 snapshots, that the FM will be updated to reflect the aircraft's original handling capabilities. Cheers, British_eh
+Olham Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 From your pics, it looks rather like the second video, British_Eh? Wonderful pictures! I hope he has the leather pads for the machine guns. Although - when you see the face of the dead von Richthofen - in a hard nose-in they can't protect you much. Did you ask Carlson, if he ever tried the "flat turn" that Voss had performed in his last fight?
Guest British_eh Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Hi there, Yes, he said that the rudder was a large part of the flat turn. He also stated that although he has not done a power off stall, when he does, the aircraft does not SPIN, it just keeps "sinking" with a very quick recovery by nose down, power on. There is no spin, as in the OFF model. Not sure why his website is offline. He has a number of aircraft he has built and pilots. Cheers, British_eh
Hauksbee Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Again I ask, "Is this a 3/4 scale"? Looks smaller than the attached photo, even tho' the cockpit is cramped in both cases.
+Olham Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 This looks like a kid or a woman in the cockpit - or the pilot has turned his head to the right, which makes it look smaller. The officer standing on the other side of the craft looks larger - he gives you the right idea about the size.
