I was keeping up with the posts on this forum and on another and after reading, I had summed up your responses to simple "teething problems" when trying to chew on OFF, possibly denture related?

Olham, I am quite sure our Dej was going for a nicely played turn of a phrase when he noted, "Uncleal is wiser than he'll admit,

Meaning: His wisdom and experience are masked by his rather difficult facade.

Yeah, I had got the idea - but now I know "Bolshi" is not "bushel". Yeah, I'm learnig...

I wish I could say I'm learning when it comes to your native language, Olham. In this case I most certainly am not hiding my light under a Scheffel stellen. :biggrin:

Well, German must be so much harder to learn. But here is a small lesson:

I most certainly am not hiding my light under a Scheffel stellen.

"Stellen" means "to put", but in this case it stands for your "hiding".

You can hide a light under a bushel, or you can put it under a bushel (which will also hide it).

So the meaning of your saying would be:

Ich (...) stelle mein Licht nicht unter den Scheffel.

(But please don't expect too many further lessons - it is just too hard to explain, why the moon is male, and the sun is female).
