Pips Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Came across this short film showing the French aces Rene Dorme, Albert Duellin and Georges Guynemer. It's from the British Pathe collection. Illustrates just how tight a fit the cockpit was, especially the SPAD. http://www.britishpathe.com/video/airmen-dorme-deullin-and-guynemer
Shiloh Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 That first shot almost looks like they had to build the plane around him.
+Olham Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Yes, I've seen this one before, but always good to see again. Ditto to Shiloh's comment! I find the look in the face of the last man quite touching - I see him laughing, but I think I trace losses and pains, and maybe fears, behind his smiles. A clouded smile so to say.

Fatigue shows on their faces. And what a tight fit for Guynemer (and he was actually quite thin).
