DVII skin- anyone know who it is?

Hi Guys

 

Here's a skin I have made, from a Google Image I found. It has the picture of the Pilot (so probably an ace) with it..but, I cannot read the name.

 

The aircraft looks (roughly) like this...and the insignia is the letter 'P'

 

If anyone recognises the livery, I'd love to know who the pilot was. Thanks

Sure it was a "P" - not a "B"? Cause Walter Blume, Jasta 9, had an emblem like this:

Thank you gents..I think you are spot on!.... I was assuming it was a 'P' as on the picture, it was slightly hidden by the wing!...I just found and downloaded the pic...here ya go..and yes, now you say the name..it magically comes into focus on the picture!.... well done, and thanks

Only now I get it - you have built the above skin after that picture, Widowmaker!

Damn, I must have been standing on my brain!

Looking great! But in this case you would have found the skin in OFF already -

get yourself the free IRFANVIEW and browse through more than 3.400 skins -

could save you a lot of work - and you'd be amazed what there all is!

Hmmm... were the French using parachutes in 1918?

 

Just to give you the choice... according to the above book referenced in my post, WM, the white band on the upper wing covered the whole front half from the leading edge to just back of the arms of the crosses. The centralised white band - as you and your box art represent on the upper wing - was the lower wing variant. The turtle deck is shown as black, too, not lozenge and the wheel discs plain black.

Widow, I actually like it better than Blume's original design - the top wing stripe

all to the front edge doesn't look as good as it looks your way.

 

Enjoy your time with Jasta 9 - I had a long-time pilot there early on, flying the

more rare Albatros D.Va "200" (200 PS). We mostly encountered SPAD XIII

from Vauxéré and Sissone, in summer 1918.
