Now it's our turn...

Recommended Posts

To got bomb jesters. Yesterday four people were arrested at Fort-de-France airport, Martinique after an Air Caraïbes A330-300 to Orly landed back. One young women, student in Arab language, informed the FAs that two of her neighboring male passengers, from Lebanese origins, (meanwhile joined by two others) spoke of "synchronize their watches" and "blow everything up when passengers will sleep". Complete search of the aircraft and luggages at FDF did not reveal anything.

An investigation was opened by the anti-terrorist section of Paris.

I mean it was the turn of our overseas territories to get that kind of idiots. Of course this is not the first time, Guadeloupe and Martinique uprisings in the 60s and 70s created more panic and anxiety that this incident. We got one near-hijacking onboard a Cubana Yak-42D at SXM in 1998, until sunday it was the last act of this kind around our little islands.

On the other hand it amazes me that it takes all this time before such fools strike again. After all our islands are easy targets, security is bad (but I have to recognize that many efforts have been made at Juliana, Le Lamantin and even Cyril E. King apts . However, the threat may comes from our regional flights.), and an attack against one of our flights would have disastrous consequences. Of course it would not have the influence of the strike on an Amsterdam / London / Paris -> JFK, but the majority of local earnings come from tourism, and an act of terrorism in the sky would be a disaster for our local economy.

Yes, I understand

I have been quite close to terrorrist attacks in 1986 in Paris (it was a matter of minute(s) for Tati), so I feel more familiar than I would like to be with this kind of attacks
