socrate Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 There some pictures from 1914 to 1918. These reviews, "L'Illustration", was to my father. Good night all.
Wayfarer Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) Socrate, there are some remarkable photographs here. I don't remember seeing them elsewhwere. I particularly like the picture of the Nieuport above the clouds at the top of the third page down. Also, the captions of the photographs of the AVROs mention Zeppelins and Freidrichshafen ( I regret my French isn't good enough to translate much). Does anyone know if these would be the aircraft that carried out the November 1914 raid by the RNAS. Edited October 27, 2013 by Wayfarer
+Olham Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Thanks for the pics, Socrate. Your postings made me wonder, if perhaps "L'Illustration" might be common property today, which can openly be read by everyone. So I looked into WIKI COMMONS, and really - there are many links to these magazines: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:L%27Illustration Enjoy looking through the ones you perhaps don't have.
socrate Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Hi all Wayfarer, yes it is, 3 British wingmen raid november 21 1914. Flight lieutnant Sippe, Flight-commander Badington and Squadron-commander Briggs (captured by German). Olham, yes indeed but it's not free to reeding !
+Olham Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) Olham, yes indeed but it's not free to reeding ! Yes, it is - I can get each page, and magnify it. You need to click on a page, then on "Full resolution", and then you can even zoom in and read. Edited October 27, 2013 by Olham
