Background****************************************

From ACIG.org: "Namely, one of the RLAF T-28 pilots at the time – and one described by the US

instructors as the “most aggressive” of all – was Lt. Chert Saibory, a former RTAF-pilot, who

defected to Laos in 1960. Chert initially offered his services to Kong Le, but was turned down.

Remaining in Vientianne, Chert then joined the RLAF - once Gen. Phoumi returned to power - and

flew many combat sorties but was never promoted in rank. For unclear reasons, in September 1963

Chert decided to defect once more and during an airshow that was to be staged over Savannakhet

he flew his T-28 away from the rest of formation – to North Vietnam. Instead of commissioning

him in their air force the North Vietnamese imprisoned Chert: several months later his T-28 was

refurbished and – serialled “963”, in commemoration of the date when it was acquired – became

the first fighter aircraft of the Vietnam People’s Air Force (VPAF)."

Pilots Nguyen Van Ba and Le Tien Phuoc flew it to shoot down a US C-123 over Laos in 1964.

This skin was painted using a single profile as a reference, some artistic license was used for

the rest of the airframe.

This mod features a modded data.ini file, that is using VPAF pilots, and a modded loadout.ini

file, that is using soviet ammo.

A piece of history! Very nicely done. Make more YAP skins, please!

PS: the pilot isn't not mine (maybe old/new Diego?) - I only put it in the pack.

Hi! I'm trying to start building addon campaigns for eburger68's amazing SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion mod. I'm trying to start by making a "red" version of the Easter Offensive campaign called "Red Fiery Summer", where the player is a VPAF pilot in an alternate Easter Offensive where the PAVN/NLF ground forces had air support. The missions would be more varied than the ones in eburger68's own VPAF addon, with strike, recon, and CAS missions in addition to CAP and Intercept.

If anyone can help me get it set up and working, or at least teach me how to do it, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
Attached below are my files for the campaign as they currently exist
      Fer_RedFierySummer.INI
      Fer_RedFierySummer_DATA.INI
      Fer_RedFierySummerEnd.TXT

View File P-47N Thunderbolt - North Vietnam
Republic Aviation P-47N 'VPAF' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

This is a very simple mod of Russouk2004's P-47N Thunderbolt to give a fictional P-47N in service with an embryonic North Vietnamese Air Force.

      BACKSTORY

The Viet Minh artillery attacks against the French airbase at Dien Bien Phu on March 16th, 1954 resulted in the destruction of six French F8F Bearcats , five MS.500's and two helicopters. In addition, several French P-47N Thunderbolts, F6F Hellcats, SB2C Helldivers and PB4Y Privateers were damaged and could not be flown out. This setback was immediately compound by a failed air-drop to help sustain the besieged French garrison and before long the Viet Minh insurgents had overrun the garrison despite a very brave defence by the French forces.

Immediately following the Geneva Conference of July 1954, which recognised the 17th parallel as being a provisional military demarcation line dividing the country into two zones, North Vietnam soon started the development of military aviation in the new Communist state by sending a number of trainees to the USSR and China for pilot training and aircraft maintenance training. In September 1954, Vice-Premier Pham Van Ðong ordered the immediate formation of the North Vietnam Air Force mainly using aircraft left behind by the retreating French forces but soon bolstered by equipment from the Soviet Union. Sufficient P-47N's were scraped together to form the 921st Fighter Regiment based at Thanh Hoá Air Base who were declared operational in February 1955.

      INSTRUCTIONS

      1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the P-47N_VPAF folder into your main Aircraft folder.

      2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the P-47N_VPAF folder into your main Decals folder.

      3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop both folders into your main Weapons folder. The SHAVR is simply a fictional Soviet version of the HVAR created as the stock S-24 is too big and heavy.

      CREDITS

As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.

Thanks to Russouk2004 for creating the superb P-47N and for making the equally good template available.

      Regards
