ironroad Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Was biting my nails during the entire video. During the takeoff run: "Please don't flip over...please don't flip over" During landing: "Please don't slam into the deck....please don't slam into the deck" Those Harrier pilots/aviators are something else, YEESH!!! Peugeot205 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 (edited) Here it is another one that I've found from the spanish navy, very nice too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=DlmnLB722uI As somenone from a country that does not have that kind of machine I must say that I really admire Harrier pilots by their skills. Chapeau!! Edited May 27, 2014 by JMBalestre Quote
JediMaster Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Harrier pilots are likely the most skilled pilots in any military today. Other planes' pilots may be better dogfighters, better at using LGBs, better at conventional traps, and so on. But Harrier pilots need more sheer piloting skill than any other because of the lack of aids and singular difficulties experienced in vertical landings. 1 Quote

Harrier pilots still have to drop bombs and dogfight if need be, so they truly are a cut above most. You just don't go from getting your wings pinned to fly Harriers one must prove themselves not only worthy, but competent in handling the plane, only the top students get picked. Not all that begin training make it through, seasoned Hornet and attack pilots get washed out. Quote
