Schoolchildren doing 'gas mask drill' in Liverpool, 1940. Although uncomfortable to wear, apparently some fun was to be had, once the children realised you could exhale sharply to make fart noises :)

Same for me - it is a moment of history captured and frozen in time. Who knows what became of those children - did they make it through the war ???????

 

or were they lost to the world in an air raid???????

 

 

Would they have gone on to become doctors, or politicians or maybe one of them worked to find a cure for cancer,

or got married and had lot's of kids of their own, who knows.......
