Drone aircraft and pilot

Maybe question is dumb but if we set an aircraft as a drone (so no pilot in it) is their a way to tweeak the pilot killed thing?

 

Example : modern campaign (or futuristic) with a playable drone squadron. If our drone get shot down, their will be no effect on our pilot status and can go on with the campaign (no POW/MIA/KIA)?

 

Just my curiosity out there :)
