Graphic engine changed in SP3.1?

Recommended Posts

Guys,

On Thursday, I finally got the chance to uninstall/re-install SF to the SP3.1 Standards. I tested out the F-14A and noticed that in the loadout screen, the little plane graphic was missing. I brushed it off as a glitch because my other plane mods had the little plane displaying.

Anyway I clicked on fly and the awesome F-14 loading screen appeared but as it reached 100% it kinda "hanged" for a while. That never happened before I thought. When I was "in the cockpit" I noticed a graphic tear in the sky graphic. When I pressed "F6" to check out Marco's VX-4 "Playboy" skin, it hanged for a while and when it finally loaded it looked weird. I thought I had a bad install. So on Friday I began uninstalling and re-installing everything. It took me all day and all night Friday to finish.

It still won't load right and I saw weird graphic glitches. On Thursday though, I took some screenies for you guys. I couldn't upload them in here so I put links.

While I was watching TV last night after getting frustrated about my SF problem, I thought of using the Flightengine ini graphic change for the Tornado in hopes of getting rid of the glitches. I tried it earlier today and it didn't get rid of them. Then I changed my video drivers. I got an TI4800SE Nvidia card. I loaded the 71 drivers from 77. It didn't help. Then I tried different in-game graphic settings. It helped. I put the object texture on medium. The weird part is that I always ran everything on high before SP3.1. So I exited SF, re-loaded the 77 drivers and run SF again and guess what no glitches. To make sure that was the problem, I went back to change the object texture to high and the glitches came back.

So, my question is this, did TK upgraded the graphic engine in 3.1? BTW my computer specs are:

2.11 GHZ CPU

AMD Nforce2 MB

1 GIG of RAM

Ti4800SE Vid card

WINXP SP2 (Home)

77.72 Nvidia drivers

Turtle Beach 2 sound card (XP Audio drivers, can't find turtle beach audio drivers)

BTW any idea why the F-14 plane disappeared in the loadout screen? Thanks.

Try the 66.93s. They seem to be the most stable drivers for SF:P1 & WoV at the moment.

Tried those but same problems as before but with a new twist. I'm getting a error saying the NV_drv (I think) stopped working properly. Maybe my GF4 card is dying?

Are you running DX9.0C?

Go to Start/Run, type in "DXdiag" in the run field, and hit "OK". This will launch the DrectX Diagnostic Tool. Towards the bottom of the first, or "system" page, it will tell you the DirectX version that's currently installed.

You'll find the Diagnostic Tool quite useful. For instance, hit the Display tab, then run the Direct3D test. You may find that it brings up errors, which will require you to reinstall (or upgrade) your DirectX.
