Catapult Launches

Can anyone tell me what parameters define the catapult launch speed on Aircraft Carriers in SF please?

I'm using the CV59 and it seems a little ferocious - throwing my F-14 off the deck at around 400Kts. This is on normal settings.

open CV_59 Data File I nObjects or Objects/CV-59 Folder,

 

 

Scroll to the Catapults 1-4 Sections on the bottom,

 

there will be a line,

 

LaunchTime=x.x ( 1.0 = 1 Second)

 

Longer Launch time Increase number,

 

Quicker Launch Time Decrease number,

Thanks again Digital-Overload, your advice worked a treat. I changed the CV-59 Forrestal Launch Time to 4 seconds on all four cats, which on Normal Flight Settings gives me an off-deck speed of around 150Kts, which is fairly accurate for the F-14. Correct launch duration for the Tomcat should be 2 seconds, but I'd rather have the off-deck speed correct.

What is interesting, is that the wingmen cope with the new settings without problem

 

This information could be useful for anyone else out there who is flying either of the two packs of Tomcat Missions I made available on this site, so I'll get around to putting an update message on the discussion page for those packs.

 

I just flew a couple of those missions tonight and the new settings have improved things immeasurably. Thanks again for such invaluable help.
