dhasdell Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I've downloaded some modern types (F16 and F18), but how can I fix the service dates of the stock opposition so that they meet appropriate types (eg addon MiG-29) rather than MiG-15? I can see the lines in addon aircraft data files, but not the stock ones. Quote
Caesar Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I've downloaded some modern types (F16 and F18), but how can I fix the service dates of the stock opposition so that they meet appropriate types (eg addon MiG-29) rather than MiG-15? I can see the lines in addon aircraft data files, but not the stock ones. The stock aircraft shouldn't enter into the problem. The MiG-29, F-16 and F-18 should be the only planes you have to change values of. I haven't found any of that data in the stock aircraft data files either. If you modify the start and end service dates, you should be able to fight the -29 with the -18 or -16. WoV will have you face off against any aircraft within the listed years years; so it is surprising that you aren't seeing the -29 in your engagements. Of course, you could always modify the start year to say, 1970 for all three planes, which could make the -29 more likely to show its face, but at the same time, you'll have to switch it back unless you want an ungodly challange when you fly the F-4. I guess there's some randomness to it also; when I was flying my Tomcat, I splashed 8 MiG-23's, and searched for new targets. I ended up finding a small flight of Japanese A6M2 Zero's (other add on a/c that I got). Also, when I fly the F-15, F-16 or F-18, I normally encounter MiG-29's, MiG-23's or MiG-21's, randomly Mirages. Maybe it's just bad luck? Anyways, if all else fails, you could make the start dates around 1990 or 2000 for all planes, then you'd probably only run into -29's...or I'd think at least. Good luck Quote
dhasdell Posted November 16, 2005 Author Posted November 16, 2005 Thanks. Tomcats vs Zeroes? You haven't been watching a DVD of "The Final Countdown" on your PC, by any chance? Quote
Caesar Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Thanks.Tomcats vs Zeroes? You haven't been watching a DVD of "The Final Countdown" on your PC, by any chance? Well, yes, actually, but not in this case. I downloaded the WWII Japanese a/c package, and some Zeroes spawned at random, I guess. Just last night it happened again, but I wasn't in a Tomcat at the time. I think I should check the end service date of the Zero... Quote
+JediMaster Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I think there's some sort of bug where if Exported=yes in the .ini then the in-service dates may be ignored. Someone else may know more... The Jedi Master Quote
Caesar Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 You're probably right, it just happened again around 10:50 tonight! I engaged a bunch of Zeroes...and lost 2/3 of my left wing when I passed too close to one. Apparently he died, and I got about 50 screenshots of my remaining flight, and subsequent landing with only one wing (or one and one third of a wing, actually). Not the first time I had to land a damaged 'Cat, but certainly one of the most difficult! Quote
