I recently got into playing this sim so there are a lot of things I still do not fully understand. Based on what I have experienced so far, the appropriate fighters have air-to-air leading gun sights that sort of point to where you need to aim in order to hit moving targets. However I do not understand how these actually work. I target the enemy, lock on with my radar, and still the gun sight indicator is pointing straight ahead and not leading in any way. What is the correct procedure for making the gun sight actually lead a target?

You need to put the sight on the target. the harder you pull Gs the sight will pull away.. Use gentle turns or let the plane naturally turn then pull your flight stick gently to have the sight stay on the target.

Do you happen to have some footage of this? Because no matter what I do the lead always just points straight ahead.

Nazr what plane are you using? Some of the older jets are fixed, while the newer, more modern "float" in the HUD when using it as an aimpoint. Also if you specify which plane, maybe the more experienced flyers may help too.

Ahh, the TMF or the stock one? I'm sure it doesn't matter, but there are plenty of fliers of that plane for sure. I fly the Super Hornet more often, so I'm not used to the jet that much.

You may want to try sickledcells videos to maybe help with your issue. He apparently is on CombatAce (I don't know his handle here), but here's his YouTube and he does a lot of F-14 videos, maybe this might help:

I watched some of his videos, and indeed something is up with how my lead sights work, because in the videos it works as I expected it to. Now Im not even sure if Im doing it right. What even are the steps necessary to make the gun sight actually lead? I did a bunch of guns practice missions and never once did the gun sight lead like in the videos (below):image.thumb.png.553736d6ebfa40e5fe754909184b5261.png

To be honest with you I don't fly the F-14 at all, so you'll have to ask him or fly what I suspect are the TMF F-14s. You could be having the issue because you're flying the TW F-14A, and that could very well be the issue you're having with the sight.

Okay so I may have figured out why I couldn't get the lead sight to work, but it doesn't make any sense. For some reason when the Radar Difficulty is set to Normal and the Flight Model Difficulty is set to Easy this happens: the lead sight doesn't lead. If they are both set to Easy it works, if Radar Difficulty is set to Easy and Flight Model Difficulty is set to Normal it works, if both set to Normal it works.

Okay, I guess it just works on those settings. I guess you fly on Hard then? I fly on Hard HUD and Normal flight and I think the lead works fine on the Super Hornet, but good to know.
