Hello everyone!
My name is Daniele and I'm from Italy. I've been playing SF1/2 on and off for the past 6–7 years and have been registered on this site for almost 6. I became a sim enthusiast thanks to my father, who used to play games when I was four; he almost always used either a flight stick or a steering wheel depending on the game.
I discovered the Strike Fighters series through their mobile games and later found out they made games on PC before going all-in on mobile. Better yet, I found out that SF1/2 are older games that could run on the crappy office desktop I used to have.
Ironically enough, now that I have a PC fit to play DCS or Falcon BMS, I have a job and no time to read the complex flight manuals for each plane. Also ironically, I recently found out about Jane's Fighter Anthology and loved many aspects of the game, even if it's very old.
I was recently thinking of making a personal modpack to keep for myself—to bring together the experience I had with Jane's Fighter Anthology and the SF series, making it a bit more balanced and fun for both BLUFOR and REDFOR without too much regard for historical accuracy. A few problems stand in my way, though:
-I have no idea how ground objects are handled by the code that autogenerates missions and I don't want to make a custom mission every time just to avoid having WWII SPAA in my 1997 mission.
-Most ships (especially carriers) are near invincible except when fired upon by nukes.
-I would have to edit A LOT of .ini files, especially for weapons and weapon loadouts on planes (but I fugerd out some how some of theese part work so it's not too bad).
-Some experimental planes—namely the F-15 S/MTD with 2D thrust vectoring, the F-16 AFTI, and the Yugoslav L-19—cannot be found anywhere and I would need to make these planes myself. I was thinking of maybe using some AI to help me with the process since I don't have a lot of free time to learn everything from scratch.
-SF2 has no IRST and no way to mod it in :^(
-SF2 has awful object collisions
I also need to change my Logitech Attack 3 flight stick. I've had it since I was 13 and it's heavily drifting left, so any suggestions for a better and more durable option are welcome.
