Simple A-6 FM tweak?
arthur666 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Other people have mentioned it too; The roll rate for the stock A-6 feels more sprightly than one would imagine, at least in the TW universe. I tried changing the deflection for all four wing spoilers. From: MaxDeflection=0.0 MinDeflection=-51.0 or MaxDeflection=51.0 MinDeflection=0.0 To: MaxDeflection=0.0 MinDeflection=-33.0 and MaxDeflection=33.0 MinDeflection=0.0 Seems to work ok so far. Gives the Intruder a weightier feel. Will this effect anything else in an overly negative way? AI piloting or something? -
Help with North Atlantic campaign
arthur666 replied to TheWarrior's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Happens in stock and 3rd party campaign? In the gameplay options, are you set to start at "at base" and not "in air near target"? If that's not it, try using a clean modfolder and see if that helps. -
Simple A-6 FM tweak?
arthur666 replied to arthur666's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I have heard that, probably reading the forums here. With this change, it still feels plenty nimble for something that size. Tried a few carrier landings, and that felt fine as well. There's an A-6E, I think, parked on the side of US70 near Cherry Point Marine Air Station. I remember seeing them fly over when I was a kid, but to see one on the ground you realize that those things are huge! BTW, nice job on the A-6 Superpack. And here's a cool little infomercial from the '70s about the plane. -

Desert Fury 2: June 1, 1981. After the war in 1975, Dhimar has become the undisputed greater economic power in the region. With their increased wealth due to rising oil prices the Dhimari decide to invest in a stronger millitary to counter the ever-looming threat of their southern neighbors. Seeing that Dhimar is purchasing new advanced weaponry such as F-16 fighters and new Sidewinder "L" missiles, Paran launches a full scale attack on the Kingdom of Dhimar before they can continue the military buildup with stronger ground forces. Iranian forces on a training excersise in Paran join in the attack, and Libya and Syria have vowed support as well. Divisions of Parani troops and heavy armor are rolling north under a cloud of MiGs. The Dhimari military is scrambling to repel the onslaught. The United States sends the 5th Fleet Carrier Battle Group to the Straits of Dhimar. USAF fighters are flown in to assist in the defense as well. A USMC Expeditionary force is standing by. This is another simple campaign, based on the stock TW Desert Fury 1975. Fly the F-4, F-14, F-15, F-16, A-10 and more from carriers and land bases. It will work with TMF Tomcats or the stock TW versions(using DLC skinpack). Have fun! You will need: SF2, SF2:E, SF2:I, SF2:NA You will want: AV-8A http://combatace.com/files/file/11938-av-8a-harrier-for-sf2/ LHA-1 upgrade http://combatace.com/files/file/12751-lha-mod-for-stock-sf2na-version/ TMF F-14 Pack (at least the IrAF F-14) http://combatace.com/files/file/12600-f-14-tomcat-super-pack-update/ F-16ABlk10 http://combatace.com/files/file/12743-updated-f-16a-block-10/ F-4G http://combatace.com/files/file/9274-mirage-factory-f-4g-phantom-for-sf2-series/ F-4S http://combatace.com/files/file/11617-mirage-factory-f-4s-phantom-ii/ Thanks to TK, the creators of these great addons, and to Combatace.com for hosting so many great files! -
Desert Fury 1981
arthur666 replied to arthur666's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
@Lazarus1177, Iran is an ally of Paran, and Western oriented countries, such as Saudi Arabia/Kuwait, and the US of course, are the allies of Dhimar. This is all imaginary BTW. I really just wanted a 10% plausible excuse to pit F-14 vs F-14. @Caesar, oops. Thanks for the heads-up. Will change after work tonite! -

custom Israel campaign problem
arthur666 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
I made a 1985 Israel camp. based on Lebanon war, but added 2 US carriers. Put USN and USMC units in DATA.INI in front of Israeli units, renumbered etc. Added carriers, target areas etc. I've done this before in other maps, it works fine. Here's what I don't understand: No USN or USMC units show up in the campaign map UNLESS I select them to fly. Then that unit is there on the carrier where it is supposed to be. But no other US units are around, anywhere. Is there something different about the Israel map compared to Dhimar/Paran? -
Northern Sabre 1975
arthur666 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: Northern Sabre 1975 File Submitter: arthur666 File Submitted: 15 April 2012 File Category: SF2 Series Add On Missions and Campaigns This is based on the stock Northern Sabre campaign, but set in 1975. It stars 4 allied Carriers, The Ark Royal, The Clemenceau, The JFK, and The Forrestal. The campaign will be easier than '79 due to the extra help, but keeping your ships alive is still a challenge. Plenty of Phantoms to fly including the F-4K, 2 squadrons of F-4J and the 57FIS F-4C (57FIS was actually using SEA camo on their planes). You will NEED SF2:V, SF2:NA and DLC F-4K + F-8E(FN) And these ships: http://combatace.com/files/file/12807-sf-2na-ark-royal/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12815-sf-2na-hms-bristol/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12814-sf-2na-leander-batch-2/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12817-sf-2na-county-class-batch-2-dd/ You will want: http://combatace.com/files/file/12345-super-etendard-super-etendard-m-for-sf2-by-foxmonter/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12307-buccaneer-faa-for-sf2/ http://combatace.com/files/file/11938-av-8a-harrier-for-sf2/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12751-lha-mod-for-stock-sf2na-version/ Readme: Back up your files first! Merge the contents of into your modfolder. Alternate loadout for Buccaneer S2D is optional, but will make Naval Stikes more effective. I tried you use the appropriate planes/squadrons and ships/names/numbers Innacuracies include: A-7E's on the Forrestal are not the correct ones because SF2 does not include decals for VA81 and VA83. The Super Etendard was not in service in 1975, but I couldn't find a Etendar IV. French fleet uses stand-ins including Essex Class carrier for the Clem. Soviet ship names are not all accurate to 1975. WWIII didn't actually happen in 1975 AFAIK, so just have fun with this! Click here to download this file -
Northern Sabre 1975
arthur666 replied to arthur666's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Sounds good, and thanks! One thing I've noticed while playing this one out: I have never hit a Tu-95 with an AIM-7E-2. They just carry too much jamming hardware. Since the -F is not available yet, you must get in close w/ winders and guns. Also, the CVW on the JFK was equiped with A-6A and A-7B, so they are not going to last long in a naval strike. But don't worry. The Forrestal shows up on the 20th with A-6 and A-7 -E's. I will release another version when we have more Soviet ships, but right now the red fleets are entirely KrivakI and Kashin. I should also let people know that if your A-6's are flyable, they're ready to go. -

Creating my own campaign?
arthur666 replied to kerosene's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
@kerosene, I'm assuming you have the correct base location listed under your squadron, so your theory sounds like a good bet. If you like, you can edit airbases to support more squadrons in the terrain/desert/targets.INI file. -
Super tough MiG-23
arthur666 replied to turkeydriver's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Gee, I never thought of ramming as a tactic. :p To be fair, since the Sidewinder has a proximity fragmentation warhead, it would be a bit random in the destruction dept., although effective overall. -

This is a great campaign feature. I was never comfy putting B-52's at bases so close to the front line on the Europe map, plus now I can have a virtual Diego Garcia on the Dhimar/Paran map. -

Dhimar/Paran is perfect for carrier ops. Got a good 1985 campaign rolling along nicely. Also, the new capabilities from SF2:NA have let me add an off-map US airbase to stage my B-52's: [TargetArea076] Name=Diego Garcia Position=700000,820000 ActiveDate=0 Location=3 Alignment=FRIENDLY OffMapAirBase=TRUE -

I'll admit publicly that I prefer the TW version. I thought that was implicit. I feel like I really stirred something up that I did not intend to. Dave, seriously, I apologize. Goodnight yall.
