Recording Avi's...
GhostDog replied to midnight_mangler's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
NP... be adviced though that there is still bugs with this feature. Test with smaller trackfiles to begin with. One note: it sometimes reckords sounds from you mic when its writing the audio track so switch it off if you have one! Let me know how it works out -
the only thing that might help if all else has been tried without succes is to to go to : Start>Programs>accesories>system tools>system restore and select "restore my computer to an earlier time". You are then taken to a calender and you can select a restore point - either one of your making or n automatically created one. Choose one from before the hijacking. This has saved me a couple of times. It doens't delete documents and such but might uninstall recently installed programs. You can allways undo a restoration.

Recording Avi's...
GhostDog replied to midnight_mangler's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
1): First record a track by opening a mission in the editor and press control-r or select "record track" from the "flight" menu. 2): When you are done and select quit or end mission (or whatever is says) you are taken to the save screen. Remeber to type in a name for your track and click "save". 3): you can now go to the map screen and select "record Avi" from the "flight menu" - When you do that you are given some options to set codecs and quality etc... 4): Click "Start" ps: if you wanted to change the views on the tracks before you record you can select "video edit" and then change the views before you record. Save it and go to #4) You can allways open a track at a later time by selecting "open" from the main menu and select "track files" in the dropdown menu on the lower right of the open screen -
TPN_Shadow is working on a little thingy that will randomize starting times for units. This sounds simple but could add some great fun. Ie. fly a CAP and never know if enemy units will appear or not. He needs someone willing to help out with testing so if you have the time let him know. Original thread

Lockon Competition
GhostDog replied to SlickWili's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
The T&C also states all dates in the year 2003...so i'm not sure wether you should take it that serious. I entered the competition and even if i have to travel to the UK to collect my cougar it would be a good deal for me. I also need spare parts for my old Mini Cooper so that might not be a bad idea at all -

Randomizer Mod

a little update on the progress: The program is now fast approaching a state where a release candidate can be compiled and tested. From what i'm reading on the test teams thread the mod is going to add even more than what i thought at the beginning. It will add a whole other feel to missions. You will be able to fly the same missions several times without the same things happening: Will they have escorts? When will they arrive. What units will be there and at what times? From a mission editors point of view it will also be something else entirely to be able to think more in scenarios. What ifs? And know that they can make one mission that will played many times more than what they make today. It might even be possible (no promisses) - that it might work with campaign files. This would mean that you would still have to write the campaigns but the feels would be very dynamic..." now i know how to nail mission #2" - No you don't! -
My squad and I have been using TS for communications but i'm not particularly happy with it. Often the "transmissions" are so garbled as to be next to useless and even though this can from time to time add another dimension to communications i would rather do without this "feature". I would like to hear if anyone knows of a way to improve performance, ie by using other codecs etc.. or if not, i would very much like to hear of your experiences with Ventrillo or other comms software... Thanks in advance, GD

I think we figured it out. WE didn't notice that the ventrilo server hasn't got a GUI

I'm a lucky bastard with a tracIr2 but i have noticed that the program "Freelook" is getting some good feedback from users. They also seems to be on the ball as far as updates go. Here is a small cut'n-paste from their website: Their last update is from January 11th and has features which are specificaly for Lomac. If you have tried it let us know if its any good. It might help some others here. If you havent tried it but want to give it a go then go to Freelook.org

I just tried to get ventrillo working with a squadmate of mine. He tried to install the server version since i hate hosting things like that - opening ports and all - but he couldn't install it. It kept asking for a path or something.. we will give another try another day

High-res Jaws Skin!.. And More
GhostDog posted a topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series Modding/Skinning Chat
A guy called Mitch_Jannsen has just posted pictures of his new high-res JAWS skin for the A10. This is my absolute favourite skin as i like to bring some fun to the party. Unfortunatly he didn't provide a download link but as soon as i get my hands on this baby i will be sure to host it here - provided i get a grip on how to get the up/download thingy to work. I haven't had much succes so far. Se more screenies here -

welcome to our neck of the woods Nic! -
I have heard those rumors as well JayJay but i think they are still only rumors. I haven't been chekking the saitek boards in a long time but last i heard the best i could get was some semi-nonconfirmation that they "would maybe look into ..." etc.. I wouldn't wait if i wanted rudders now
