  1. V1.02 Update

Here's the March 31st update on the patch. I've gone ahead and stripped all the whine-warnings, for your convenience. ;)
  2. Nice job on that video! I felt like I was sitting in a movie theatre.
  3. It's all good. I'm sure your posting here (and reply) will help others that may encounter the same problem. =)
  4. Ugo Review Of Farcry

The sub-title off the main page is: "Best single-player FPS since Half Life. 'Nuff said." :D Click here to read it.
  5. Bfv Vs. Ati

I read this post earlier, but a silly question just occurred to me: who in their right mind releases a game knowing that it will not work well with video cards manufactured by the favored company in the industry?
  6. Bush Shootout

    There's nothing like auto-reloading unlimited ammo. :D
  7. Bfv Vs. Ati

I remember 3dfx doing this with several games a few years back. "Optimized" is how they would word it. Of course, if you were a Voodoo card-carrying member, it was great because you knew that the developers paid special attention the specifics of the hardware in order to maximize its use. If you weren't a 3dfx owner, well... you were SoL and had to settle for sub-standard performance. And I do recall not picking up certain games because of this issue.
  8. As you have undoubtedly noticed, the no-CD patch thread has been moved. It has been done as a temporary precaution until I can get the final word on how to proceed. Hang in there, we'll get this sorted out shortly. "Instigator" - I PM'ed a response to your last post therein.
  9. Far Cry Screenshots

GameSpy has thrown up 4 pages of screenshots and concept art for this title, which is being released today! Check out the screens.
  10. Amen. To a child, it's a cool shiny circle that flashes all colors of the rainbow when hurled through the air frisbee-style. To a dog or cat, it's something that flickers sunlight in my eyes and is out of place here lying on the desk/shelf/floor and therefore must be moved about/played with using my clawed paws. To a CD-ROM tray, it is an annoying piece of media that doesn't sit still and sometimes needs to be put in it's place by crushing it between my metal mandibles of death. I hate spending $60 on a coaster. I think my wife's drink coasters from Pier 1 are expensive enough.....
  11. FYI: Please note the following warnings from the UBI forums RE this no-CD patch topic: From DayGlow, Forum Moderator:
  12. V1.02 Update

March 21st update from Carl on the v1.02 beta testing:
  13. You're quite welcome, sambo. Glad I could help. ...and may I never be present to behold what happens to my enemy's mid-sections... LOL. :D
  14. After chatting with the other admins and moderators here, the collective conclusion is that the link will remain posted until further notice. Sorry for the confusion, folks. My bad.
  15. Battlefield: Vietnam

Naturally, the BioHaz Buy/Sell/Trade forum is also an option...I didn't actually have to type that because I know that everybody knows about it.... :D
  16. Battlefield: Vietnam

That's actually not a bad idea; trading in. Do you do that at a retailer, or online thru ebay or some other site? Just curious. I've got a stack of games just lying around because they're either finished or threw themselves off the playlist due to absolute boredom. :D
  17. Win Xp

Excellent! Glad to see it's all worked out well for you.
  18. Alright, here's the scoop on the mission and campaign files. After you save your work, it is placed in a sub-folder of the LockOn install directory. Missions are saved as a *.mis file inside a Missions folder. Campaigns are saved as a *.cmp file inside a Campaigns folder. Everything you need to upload a custom mission or campaign for other LockOn users to enjoy the work you've done is included in that one file. Using WinZip on these files will compress them nicely, making it even easier to store on a website. Don't forget to include a little readme.txt with that zip that will tell users what the mission or campaign is about and to give yourself credit where credit is due. :) Hope this helps.
  19. LOL! I have a feeling it stems back to a lack of good documentation on the mission builder. That's all. Otherwise you would've seen a post and an answer much sooner. After saving your mission/campaign, did you search your hard drive for a *.mis or *.cmp file? These are the file formats for a mission or campaign respectively. Try this and see if you have any luck.
  20. V1.02 Update

Here's the March 17th update on LOMAC v1.02 beta 4....
  21. Win Xp

PG_Raptor, Well, well, well. Lo and behold I bit the bullet today and bought an 80GB hard drive. 7200 RPM, but just IDE so I will have to be careful when buying my next motherboard (ATA is making headway as we speak.) So, it appears I'm in a similar boat as you and now have to figure out how to partition accordingly and whether or not I should keep any of my existing HDs on the same computer or just move them over to another system all together. BUFF makes an excellent point. XP can be a disk hog when it comes to things like multiple profiles, swap files, patches and security updates, etc. It would be incredibly frustrating if several months down the road you run into space issues on the OS partition. A great suggestion I read on another forum is to Norton Ghost an image of the disk after you have performed a fresh install with the necessary driver udpates and security patches. That way, if you ever have to revert back from a bad driver update or a software install gone wrong, you can do so with ease. Future OS re-installs (which can happen every couple of months) can be performed easily. Not to mention the never-timely, absolutely frustrating HD failure. I dread the thought of it, but we all know it happens from time to time. The Norton Ghost image will decrease the downtime substantially. I'll be doing this disk image thing with my next OS install. Hope this helps.
  22. sambo, See my response to your other post on the research being done for a little write-up on how to export missions and/or campaigns. We'll get your mission up here @BioHaz soon enough, so hang tight. :) Also, have you checked out LOMU or the Dynamic Mission Generator in our File Library? They can both be found in the LOMAC Utils/Editors section. I read on the UBI threads that missions and campaigns can be imported/exported using these utilities. LockON users are reporting some good results with these tools and it may help you with what you are trying to achieve. If you're a bit concerned about opening a new can of worms by having to ramp-up with these add-on software pieces, no worries. I'll post something as soon as I hear back.
  23. sambo, I've searched far and wide for a write-up on this, but apart from what little is in the manual, there's not much else. I'm checking with some of the campaign community members now to see if we can get a quick & easy procedure together on how to do this. Hang in there! I'll reply as soon as I have something for you.
  24. The Lomac League is a website dedicated to housing various formats of squadrons seeking competition and, ultimately, domination on a global scale. I took a moment to surf around the various sections of the site. By my eye, they're just starting to blossom over there, but the potential is huge. There could easily be teams based on communities (such as BioHaz), plane selection, nationality, geographic affiliation and even political denomination ( ;) just kiddin' ... couldn't resist. ) Presently, they have the following setup: In the near future, they would like to see: But I'm sure the site admins would be open to suggestion for other combos. The format of the site is clean and easy to navigate. The forum even has a section where you can post your individual credentials in hopes of getting enlisted with an existing squadron. A link to The Lomac League just went live on LockON's official website, so it's guaranteed to generate interest among the existing squads and teams that are out there.
