LOL. Yep, just noticed the "kick" while replying to a PM from GhostDog. I just went through and viewed all the posts that appeared new to me (they are now showing up with the little red/blue envelopes.) Upon returning to the main forum areas, they have all refreshed. Looking good so far. Thanks!

Even after updating your list of virus definitions using LiveUpdate? Woah, that's strange.... why would Norton suggest it then in the Solutions section of the doc? Quite an involved removal process, including the windows registry edit. Keep us posted on your progress and be as detailed as you can with what has been done so that our assistance will be more accurate. Hang in there...

Winter Terrain??
SlickWili replied to 195th_Sith's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I just went through every link that has been put up on the Ubi forums for the winter terrains and ALL are broken. Every single one. I'm now going to search-engine for it to see if I can locate anyone's copy anywhere. In the meantime, if any BioHaz member has successfully downloaded these terrains, please send a private message (PM) to any of the mods/admins here so that we can get a copy of them uploaded for general distribution. Thanks in advance. -
Enhanced Manual Update
SlickWili replied to GhostDog's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Yes, the waiting is definitely the worst part. <_< I remember ordering in November '03, knowing that it would be some time before the manuals were actually printed and put together, nevermind shipped. I saw my copy in the mailbox the week between Christmas and New Years. Hang in there! Should arrive soon. And now that Nic Cole will be stock-positive, turn around times will be greatly improved. It's worth the wait (weight?) I've learned so much from Shepski's training section... and having fingertip access to the cockpit and HUD layouts is invaluable, IMO. -
A few of the mods and admins here @BioHaz have noticed this issue as well (including myself.) It is erratic at best (sometimes newly viewed posts refresh as "read" and other times they do not.) We're looking into it. MadJeff suspects it may have something to do with the move. Thanks for the heads up! :)

Wow.... what a thread. If there's one thing I learned very early in life it's to never take anything or anyone for granted.

Checking out the News post on the main BioHaz page posted by GhostDog, I followed the links along to the thread and then the Terms and Conditions of the contest to find that: Only the U.K.? Darn. Hopefully enough non-U.K. LockOn users will will head over and post their thoughts on the UBI forums to get them to open the competition up to the rest of the world. It's a shame considering all the goodies they're giving away to the winners. I thought it was a bit bizarre that you could select from dozens of countries when submitting your answers to the question, but yet the T&C states otherwise....

Winter Terrain??
SlickWili replied to 195th_Sith's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I think the gent who was hosting those files ran far beyond the up/download limit. MadJeff is working on getting those files up @BioHaz here, so we'll let you know as soon as they're available. Super-sweet terrain. :) -
Good News On The Patch For The English Speaking
SlickWili replied to GhostDog's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Just for good measure, I thought I'd throw up Carl Norman's (LockOn Exec. Producer) "Warning Order" regarding the patch. It has some good information on what is to be expected, as well as how to deal with issues that arise going forward: I can just imagine, after reading this, that the folks at the offices over there are grabbing their helmets and ducking for cover ;) -
For the new visitor, it can be a bit overwhelming (ie. information overload.) I remember feeling that way myself with my first few hits here. But once you understand how the site is structured and get your bearings, it is very handy to have so many different areas of the site clickable on the front page. It is clean and organized.

Lockon Manager 1.0 Released

Hawker1, I'm looking into to seeing if we can get LoMan 1.52Final up in the File Download area. I will let you know as soon as I do. -
Lomac Enhanced Manual Update
SlickWili posted a topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
For those of you who have ordered Nic Cole's enhanced manual for LOMAC (the one that's so full of supplements, guidelines and other goodies that the first run binders don't even close properly!) I thought I'd drop a bit of info on what I've heard regarding shipments so far. The first run binders (#1 through 500) are touching down all over Europe and parts of the U.S. Some first run customers are still waiting for the local postal service to hurry up and process the shipments. Feedback on these first run copies is very, very good. I received the following email on Sunday, December 21st regarding the second run shipments (of which I am a part of): LOMAC Manual is the place to go if you want to find out more or place an order. Cheers and Happy Holidays! B) -
Lomac Enhanced Manual Update
SlickWili replied to SlickWili's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I received #374 last night.... awesome manual! No additional border costs. Total price paid is $72CDN. It's more than LockOn itself, but combined they're still cheaper than a 1-year subscription to the latest and greatest online games out there. I never did like expiry dates with my games... :D -
Lomac Enhanced Manual Update
SlickWili replied to SlickWili's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
"Instigator" Welcome to the "enhanced" club... ;) Like most posts here and on the ubi forums, once you have Nic Cole's manual in hand, you won't be disappointed. The total costs associated with getting this manual into my hands is yet to be determined... I live in Canada and there have been a few discussions regarding taxation at the border. Some have stated that it will/cannot be taxed, but I'll believe it when I see it. I'll post the final tally once I have it. -
Lomac Enhanced Manual Update
SlickWili replied to SlickWili's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I hear ya. It took me quite a long time to get over the fact that the printed manual supplied with the game barely grazed the surface of sufficiency. For sim games, I am a big fan of the printed manual. ALT-TAB'ing during gameplay will never suffice. BTW: The cost of the printed color manual in the binder has gone up by approximately 10GBP since I bought it. We were told this is due to the larger binder format being used. There are several options to choose from, including hi-res pdf download. -
$107.05...? For The Game.....

Steelcity, As per the website, here is what the enhanced manual includes: 1) Introduction by Carl Norman 2) Printed version (in high resolution) of the Reference Manual that comes on your CD. 3) A 70 page Training section written by Mark 'Shepski' Shepheard 4) An 80 page recognition guide, showing all the land/ground and naval units in the game. 5) An additional key reference guide, a brevity guide and some SAM missile data sheets. So, the fact that it is a high resolution printout w/ color with a 70 page training section by Shepski and an 80 page recog. guide is what convinced me to make the purchase. As it has been stated many times already (most credits going to Cretin ;) ) this enhanced manual is NOT a required purchase. Like many of you, I was thoroughly disappointed to find out that the majority of the manual was found in pdf format on the LockOn CD. I have always enjoyed setting my flight sim manual beside the keyboard, for quick and easy access. The manual distributed by Digital Aspirin satisfies the desire, and then some. Sure, I could've just gotten by with a pdf printout, but I had a good feeling about this product and was willing to spend a bit more money to make it that much more of an enjoyable experience. -

I posted an interesting question a little while back on both the LockOn and Flanker2.0 forums at ubi. It was about Flanker2.5 and whether or not it will help as a ramp-up to LockOn. They were all "yes" replies. This speaks to your comments regarding the "not a whole heck of a lot is new" feelings. <_< Here's hoping there will be add-on packs that bring different planes and new territory into the mix to keep the continued interest of the long-time fans. -

There's no doubt that Wags & Stormin will stand by their product. Apart from the multiple patches that will be released (I distincly recall Wags stating that item A, B, and C will not be in the first patch) they're also looking into enhancements and add-ons. The dynamic campaign thread on the ubi.com forums is intriguing. I guess the bigger question is if one is up to learning and "growing" with the game. If you've been bitten by the flight-sim bug bad enough.... you will. ;) -

Vegas, I found the exact same problem when checking out the new (and very much needed) ubi.com LockOn forums. Did you try selecting the option to edit your profile and then click the SUMBIT button at the bottom of the page? I didn't even modify any of my settings. Just re-submitting worked for me. -

Abaris, I think you've touched on a really good point regarding flames on the ubi.com boards. If they're constructive, the developers can use the info in their continued testing and streamlining of the product. Also, it gives forums like this one more opportunity to focus on the community contributions, latest updates, patches, skins, campaigns, etc. Complaining about the game (bugs, distribution, min. requirement listings or otherwise) here will not be heard by the makers of LockOn...unless we cut/paste it over there ;)
