Have sent you a PM. Am keen to understand your settings too, particularly the VorpX in-game settings to get the best field of view without needing a black border
-
Are you on Discord? I’ll send this through on a PM
-
Exciting! I’m hoping for newer DirectX implementation :-) (and a SPAD XII Canon, of course)
-
I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but that doesnt seem to work when TrackIR or the VorpX TrackIR emulation is running
-
Is there a way to physically place the main 1st person camera further back in the cockpit? At max zoom out it is still not far back enough. I can make it better by cheesing the TrackIR recenter by moving up close to my screen and centering; when I sit back the default camera view has moved back too.
-
Nope but I’m not using any of the enhanced settings. I’m still trying to work out how to move the default position back it’s not purely a zoom issue, it’s more like camera position. The best I can do is reset the TrackIR whilst moved far forward

Amazing! Thank you. I’ll try this out tonight. Ive put the word around the WW1 sim community about working VR. A number of ppl have messaged saying this was what was holding them back from buying WoFF. Hopefully you’ll see several new orders off the back of this. I think it would be worth you adding a mention of VorpX VR compatibility in the documentation. For many this is a game changer. Dutch - those new ppl would benefit from a full tutorial video.

Got it and it’s working! The two issues I’m now having is the frame rate in VR and the FOV. The default position in VR seems to be zoomed in very close to the instruments. I can get round it by zooming out in VorpX but this creates an unrendered bevel at the top and bottom of the view. I’m no pro with VorpX so any help optimizing would be much appreciated!

All I can say is that the work you have done is incredible. It's the best single player experience for any sim out there today. If you had a more modern engine offering an enhanced DM, multiplayer/coop, and VR you'd have the best WW1 sim of all time. It amazes me how the bigger developers fall down on single player content and AI. Not everyone wants to grind out in War Thunder or airquake in DCS. Let me know if you fancy a SPAD XII sponsor + data.... -

Absolutely loving it. Even the quick scenario with the Snipes vs Fokkers is epic and still looks great on my 4K screen. Have you thought about moving to a new engine like Digital Warfare? 1C have a couple of community and 3rd party studio partnerships. If you’re interested to read more on the SPAD Canon there’s a ton of stuff including never-before seen photos and primary documents in the il2 link above. Funding a virtual plane is cheap than building a real one! -
100% agree with Witchy. The AI and SP experience blows all other WW1 sims out of the water. I think a partnership with the IL-2:BoX team would make sense to use the Digital Warfare Engine. They already have commercial arrangements with Team Fusion for CloD and a new group of community members building a Finnish map. They're also not focused on WW1 with a lot of complaints currently around SP and the awful AI. I'm in touch with some of the 1C dev and beta test team if there's interest. In terms of new content, I would love to see the SPAD XII-Canon added, and would happily donate cash and data to support. I've been working with historians such as David Mechin, Martin Schulz, and Jon Guttman recently on pulling together information on the type with a view to publishing some point in the future. It is woefully under appreciated given that at least 120 were ordered (see my post here for the photo from the French archives), that it served for over a year receiving the 220hp upgrade, was issued to most of the top French aces with a dozen or so having confirmed kills, and was the future weapon configuration for many WW2 birds. Most of Fonck's final kills were in his XII, making him an ace in the type. Given that the Dr1 was never built or used in numbers to other German types, I wonder whether the Red Baron mystique is the reason that the plane of French aces is so often forgotten as a niche plane. Madon even had a bright red one.

Recently reinstalled and loving it! How much would one need to gift to see the SPAD XII-Canon added? I've been doing a fair bit of research pulling together photos, primary source data from the French archives, Guynemer's original letters etc (another trip planned in April to hunt the test data from mid 1917). -
Hey Dutch, I’ve just tried your solution but every time I launch CFS3 the .ini file rewrites itself back to =1. Any ideas on the cause? I’m using the out-of-the-box most recent version of the game so am wondering if there’s anything else I should install like older texture packs etc. When I try to make that .ini file read-only it crashes WoFF/CFS3. It looks like the file is getting written each time you enter a map using the options from the config menu. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for the reply. I posted this on their support forum https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/hooking-into-combat-flight-sim-3-fsx-woff/ Ive also tagged that YouTube guy on his vid to ask about his settings etc. Would love to hear from anyone else here who got it working
