Whilst waiting for my WOFF DVD to arrive I shouted myself a set of Saitek Pro Flight Combat pedals. They are beautiful and work perfectly in FSX.However in OFF I find the rudder works both with the pedals and my Thrustmaster T 16000 joystick twist function. This leads to some quite embarrassing moments in flight. especially in combat, where I still involuntarily sometimes twist the joystick. Can anybody tell me how to disable the rudder function on the T16000?. FSX seems to have done it automatically. Also, the toe brakes do weird things in OFF.An accidental touch on the left one sends the plane into a violent bank to the right, and a touch on the right toe brake results in a sudden near vertical climb. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers all .

Tamper, I have found the answer to our problem. At least on my rig. Select controls and select Saitek Rudder Pedals.Select All Commands not just Control Surfaces. Scroll down to Aileron Axis and Delete Assignment. Scroll down to Elevator Axis and Delete Assignment Save Config with whatever name you like.I called mine Eureka. Then select your joystick and scroll down to Rudder Axis and......Yes.!Delete Assignment. Good Luck.I hope it works for you.

Yes Tamper. It is a real bummer. In desperation I am going to make a couple of wooden wedges to jam under the toe brokes to put them out of operation.
-
Many thanks Burning Beard but still no joy.

A 1st edition of "Winged Victory" for my library, at long long last

This is the same Gordon Taylor who made many pioneering flights after the war.He is very very well known among the older generations of New Zealanders and Australians. One of his more famous exploits was when he was with Kingsford Smith in an attempt to make the first flight from Australia to New Zealand in a tri-motor Fokker in the early 30'sIOn the way over the starboard engine failed and the port engine was overheating. They decided to return to Sydney.Taylor climbed out the wing six times to transfer oil from the dead starboard engine to the port engine in,if i remember correctly a battered old suitcase. They made it back safely. Oh yes, he was quite a man. -
My initial experience with SuperFetch and 16 Gig RAM. Flying OFF with SuperFetch turned off I noticed occasional stutters throughout the sesseio. With SuperFetch on when starting the sim there were noticeable stutters at first. However after a few minutes these stutters completely disappeared even when performing violent manoeuvres at tree top height and did not reoccur during that session.Whenever I start OFF now exactly the same symptoms occur IE noticeable stutters on start up which disappear after a few minutes. From my experience I can state that with my rig SuperFetch works exactly as they claim.

HMMMM.I think that could very likely do the job MudWasp. RJW.Ahh a wife.Yes I have one of those and a jolly good job she has made of it for the past 58 years.
-
What is a washing machine MudWas?.I am in Australia you know.
-
Yes RJW,but they are the Hell to shake. At my age I get a very meagre crop.
-
Tamper, Thank you very much for your kind offer of an SSD.However the shekels are beginning to mount again and it won't be long before I am researching the SSD market. Your generous offer is very much appreciated. Cheers
-
Thanks MudWasp for that site. That is just what I needed.
-
Tamper, I still intend to get an SSD when I am shekel-solvent again.I am sure you are correct and that SuperFetch is a Band-Aid solution, but one well-worth using in the meantime. Cheers
-
I have not yet acquired an SSD so am totally ignorant on this score but I am sure you will get some expert advice from the forum members.
-
Is anybody running OFF on an SSD drive? If so is there any noticeable difference in how the Sim runs?
-
Thank you Tamper.I realise the tests I am doing are very primitive and very subjective.Being elderly they will probably not be as accurate as those of a younger and more with it user..My extra 8 Gig of RAM has just arrived.I will do anothet day or so of observation with 8g before installing the new sticks. So it may be some time before I come up with anything.I will shall give SuperFetch plenty of learning time. Cheers
-
Tamper I have noticed the very occasional stutter in OFF when low down in a very active situation.I have done much better in FSX with everything turned up, when I get a lot of stuttering.I cannot notice any difference with SuperFetch on or off.I am still running with 8 gig and don't expect my new 8 gig for a few days.I will continue taking notes. Cheers

OFF runs around 59/61 FPS and about mid 40's/mid50's on the ground Thanks all for the info on torturing OFF. I will try all suggestions. Cheers
-
Tamper, Thanks for the instructions.Yes,I have checked and SuperFetch is running.I have been making notes of my computer's habits and am looking forward to the arrival of my extra 8G RAM.I hope to have some details in a couple of weeks. I must say I do not have a lot of stutters but I will make all my slides as demanding as I can and get into the biggest furball I can in OFF. I only hope I last long enough to make some worthwile findings. Cheers
-
Tamper, your instructions are so clear that I believe even I will be able to manage them. It's is really what I am doing now, but with notes. My new RAM will take anything up to a week to arrive but I will start immediately to note the hiccups and coughs that you describe. Here's to some interesting results.
-
Tamper, I would be happy to take part in your experiment as long as my rapidly deteriorating brain cells are capable of handling it. The new extra 8g of RAM should arrive in the next few days. The SSD will have to wait a while until a few more shekels become available. I await your instructions.
