  1. Looks like we have been playing with similar ideas In my MidEastWars pack I included a sort of USS Liberty scenario, with an added target area and the USS America (friendly) that would randomly show up (very rarely in fact). It didn't work the way I wanted, but I left it in anyway. So if you sometimes see a recon flight of USN F-4s in my campaign, this is why :) A 1983 campaign looks very interesting, with French Crusaders and Super Etendards, Italian Starfighters and USN aircraft. Just a pity there is no Buccaneer yet (maybe use the Jaguar?). The stock WOI Lebanon campaign seems a good basis for this.
  2. That is some impressive work Wrench! As for the ships involved (Sues Crisis), I am working with these: - HMS Albion and Bulwark by MadJeff - French carriers (LaFayette and Arromanches) I don't know yet: maybe an Illustrious class? - Task force: Daring Class DD by Capun and possibly Foch by Hinchinbrooke (as generic combat vessels) - Egyptian navy: don't know yet The only locations on Cyprus that I am working with are Tymbou (since Nikosia is off the map; AI units only) and Akrotiri. Great! Actually, just a shipping lane anywhere in the Red Sea is enough I think. That would be very useful. I tried adding more ships to the carrier station, but couldn't get it to work. I got Gepard's terrains working in WOV, I only briefly tried them in WOI (didn't work then).
  3. Very true! Chinook would be very useful for many scenarios... Others on my list: - Sea Venom - Buccaneer
  4. Yes, I'd be very much interested! Since it's for a 1956 campaign, SAM sites are not necessary, but the rest will be useful. So far I have only added 2 airbases in Cyprus, but the location needs tweaking because the terrain is too hilly there. I wouldn't add any targets in Israel as the action will take place over the Sinai. The WOI terrain covers most of the things I need, so I was planning to stick with it. Besides I don't have a copy of SFP1 or WOE The only things I want to add are: - Port Fuad - El Gamil airfield - (static) ships in Port Said and Port Fuad - RAF Akrotiri and RAF Tymbou on Cyprus - shipping lane in the Red Sea By the way, is it possible to add ships to a carrier station, or do I need to create a new target area close to the carrier station?
  5. In the attachment you'll find the modified Rolling Thunder campaign. As with the previous files, you'll need the Infantrypack and it is recommended you use the SteelTiger or any other terrain that adds static targets in South Vietnam. Feel free to make alterations :) WOVCAMPRT_DATA.zip
  6. Haven't tried that. I thought I'd wait until an update for WOV is released. I've been busy with campaigns for WOI, so I haven't had much time to look into a Vietnam campaign. I managed to get the ground offensives somewhat balanced in the Rolling Thunder campaign, but I'm beginning to think the map is too limited to do it properly (i.e. historically). The capture of a single node usually results in a large shift of the front line. The way it works now, it is vital that the player flies a successful mission during an enemy ground offensive, so that offensives happen, but are always repulsed. Anyway, in combination with the SteelTiger targets and CA_Stary's tree mod, I'm seeing plenty of strike missions against static troop concentrations (hidden in the jungle) near the DMZ, so it's quite enjoyable. I'll post the campaign.ini here tonight.
  7. Thanks for the info! Seems to agree with the info I had. I'll experiment with the number of available aircraft in the campaign, but it's possible that the historical numbers will cause units to be wiped out in the game. I'm now putting the ground war in place for the Suez campaign. I will need to add a few locations to make it work the way I want it. Port Fuad isn't there and I want more ships near the harbours... Once that's done, I'll still need a few skins (mostly for RAF and French units) and edit the loadouts, then testing can begin :)
  8. You can start with my WOI campaigns expansion, which makes the stock WOI aircraft flyable and allows campaigns for both sides. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6144 Also be sure to get Pancho's campaigns. They don't add any aircraft, but they fill in the time gaps between the stock campaigns.
  9. I haven't had much time yet to work on Suez. Too busy playing your campaigns
  10. I don't know why, but whenever I see footage of IDF aircraft "Spirit in the Sky" comes to my mind :) I quite like the WOI music BTW...
  11. Also, shouldn't the internal cannon be removed from the MiG-21PFM? Is there a loadout for external gunpods on MiG-21s?
  12. Looking through the OOB for Suez I think the RAF Hunter (either stock or Armourdave/Sundowner's model) should be made into a Hunter F Mk5. According to the info I've found this means 2 x 100 gal external tanks rather than 4. Then there's also different engine data and a different wing design, but I think this is not that important or rather too much trouble).
  13. Do the paratroopers also work on AI aircraft? My AI wingmen never drop them even when I tell them to "Attack my target" or "Attack ground". I'm using the Paratrooper.lod version that came with the C-47A.
  14. Package uploaded, should be available soon. It's really meant as a testbed for future campaigns, so if you can think of anything that needs to be changed or added, let me know. The developers had the foresight to add comments in the campaign files indicating the type of aircraft/vehicle the units used historically, so it's easy to see which units you could replace by e.g. MiG-25s or Shermans :) WOI campaigns Expansion v0.1 by Johan217 --------------------------------------------------- This package adds more flyable squadrons for both sides in the stock WOI campaigns. Contents: ------------------ - All 3 stock WOI campaigns updated to add more flyable squadrons for both sides - All stock WOI aircraft (except Tu-16 and IL-28) made flyable using stock WOI cockpits - Fixed FM for MiG-23 (thanks to BattlerBritain and nele) - Fixed loadouts for the Hunter (thanks to Wrench) - Fixed an error with Etzion airbase (thanks to SidDogg) Addon Requirements: ----------------------- None. Third party cockpits for most aircraft are available in the downloads section of www.combatace.com should you wish to use them. Acknowledgements: ----------------- - BattlerBritain for updating the MiG-23 flight models (edits based on the MiG-23 package by nele available at http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...;showfile=4565) - SidDogg for the Etzion airbase fix - Wrench for valuable info on aircraft loadouts
  15. There is a cockpit.ini for the SuperMystere in the objects.cat, but it doesn't work in WOI because it uses the F-100D cockpit model. I want this to work without addons, so I'm using only stuff that is present in WOI. It's really just a quick fix for people who want to fly campaigns for the other side. I really want to get started on my bigger projects after this :)
  16. Start a Yom Kippur campaign with 144 squadron, based at Etzion. I see this: Tower view (runway is there but the aircraft are not, the terrain is not level) It doesn't happen every time, I suspect because you sometimes start on a different runway. This was Runway 22. No mods installed.
  17. Is that necessary? In My MidEast campaigns for SFP1/WOV I got the Meteor working for either side, and the fuel tanks/weapons showed up correctly. The attachmenttype for the Meteor was set to UK, using Bunyap's pack. I just added this in the campaign_data.ini: Supply[001].WeaponType=MeteorTank Supply[001].Quantity=80 Supply[002].WeaponType=500lbGP Supply[002].Quantity=20 Supply[003].WeaponType=60lb-rocket Supply[003].Quantity=120 Haven't tried it yet in WOI though...
  18. Progress report: I have the 1967 campaign ready, but I still need to make a package for making the AI aircraft flyable. Since I want this to work without any addon requirements, I am using the cockpit aliases below. If you find a better alternative, let me know. Hunter, MiG-17/17F/19, Su-7, Vautour, Mystère, SuperMystère, Sa'ar >>> A-4B Mirage V >>> Nesher MiG-21 >>> Mirage III MiG-23 >>> F-4E Also, I'm looking for loadout.bmp files for these aircraft (for Mirage V I can use the Nesher bmp) @BattlerBritain: may I include your MiG-23 FM edits?
  19. All the more credit then to the Israeli pilots who flew these aircraft in a role it was not intended for, and were very successful at it too! Then again, the EAF pilots were also instructed at first to use their MiG-21 as high altitude interceptors. And while the IDF recieved the F-4, the Soviets could not deliver anything to counter it.
  20. That's what I was planning to do, I just can't make up my mind which cockpit would be appropriate. :) I'll probably alias the more modern MiGs to the Nesher or Mirage. Then we have a basic package that is ready for use, and users can afterwards install addon pits if they wish. Great!
  21. You need to comment these lines out (using ; ) in the aircraft data.ini as in the example below: [Canopy] SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE ;DeploymentMethod=AUTOMATIC_SPEED ;Setting[1].Angle=30.0 ;Setting[1].DeployValue=15.0 ;Setting[1].RetractValue=10.0 ;MaxDeflection=30.0 ;MinDeflection=0.0 ;ControlRate=0.3 ;AnimationID=5 ;MinExtentPosition=1.8169,0.5474,-0.9940 ;MaxExtentPosition=-1.8544,-0.4772,0.0110
  22. Working on it, I just need to sort out a problem with the MiG-23 that is uncontrollable and find a download-friendly solution for the cockpits.
  23. I would love that, and for this reason: When you recieve new weapon supplies in a campaign, it will show all weapons that are applicable to your aircraft, so with all-in weapon packs you'll get a huge list and it is hard to find the thing you need. A specific weapons pack would remedy this. A few things I've seen so far in stock WOI: - AIM9-B >>> according to a few sources the IDF never used it, the first Sidewinder used was the AIM-9D when the F-4E entered service in 1968 - Shafrir 1 >>> appears to be absent - Sa'ar >>> has 2 Rockeyes or A2A missiles on the centreline stores, but these are not shown in the loadout screen (stock Sa'ar + cockpit alias, no other ini changes)
  24. Checking in... I'm working on the Suez Crisis campaign, so my priorities are the aircraft for that era. I might be doing something with the other campaigns too, but later. I have all the aircraft working (i.e. flyable and no missing pieces) that I used for my earlier Suez campaign. A few tweaks are needed for aircraft that have a movable canopy (Meteor and F-84F). You'll need to comment out the lines like in the example below: [Canopy] SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE ;DeploymentMethod=AUTOMATIC_SPEED ;Setting[1].Angle=30.0 ;Setting[1].DeployValue=15.0 ;Setting[1].RetractValue=10.0 ;MaxDeflection=30.0 ;MinDeflection=0.0 ;ControlRate=0.3 ;AnimationID=5 ;MinExtentPosition=1.8169,0.5474,-0.9940 ;MaxExtentPosition=-1.8544,-0.4772,0.0110 Also, for aircraft (like the SeaHawk) that alias the cockpit to the F-100 or A-4B, you need to use a different cockpit or use the files from SFP1/WOV. Haven't looked at the Mosquito yet, it wasn't in my earlier campaigns but I will add it now. As for the other aircraft, I' prefer to keep the addon requirements as low as possible, so I'm thinking of using just one variant for the Meteor. Would the F8 be most representative?
  25. Some VERY useful info from TK here: http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=5089 Thanks to the poster for asking the question
