POL Coastal Defenses AAR Part 3
Ruggbutt posted a topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Lots of secondaries from the ammo bunkers. I set up for another run and drop auto chaff/flares. Since I have a couple of Rockeye's I decide to destroy some of the supply trucks that were lined up to distribute ammo and supplies to the troops. I chose ripple single/2 bombs, with a drop delay of 75ms. I hold my dive and the bombs come off the pylons 3/4 of a second apart. This is gonna get ugly........................ Good hits! Beagle runs in low to do a quick BDA. I'm feet wet and I spot a Strela on the coast, just waiting for someone to fly into it's targeting envelope. My IR Mavs are longer ranged and I call "Rifle" over comms as the Maverick comes off the rails. He meets the same fate as the truck convoy outside the mosque. Beagle fires his Mavericks at the remaining vehicles near the compound. We've completed our mission and killed a few "bonus" targets. I tell Beagle to form up as I select our home plate waypoint. As we prepare to make the turn towards home I get spiked by an Osa. A quick look out of the windscreen and I spot it on the "hook" outcropping on the coast. I select a Maverick, wait for the contrast lock and fire. Rifle! Ouch! I've climbed back up to Angels 12, above MANPADs range and steer towards home. I select home plate ILS beacon and settle down into the glideslope. I request landing and tower clears me. Flaps and gear down, 135 kts, and I'm on ILS approach. This will be a textbook landing. Landed safely with airbrakes deployed. Just waiting for the nose wheel to touch down. Tower tells me to taxi to the hard stand, as I make the turn onto the auxiliary. It's been a great mission, no losses on our side. Ground troops are being dropped into the target area to provide security and to keep the port open. -
POL Coastal Defenses AAR Part 2

We climb out following our waypoints. I select waypoint 3 which is close to the Tico cruisers that lay off the coast where our targets are. There's no safer place than orbiting over a Ticonderoga cruiser. It's like having a big brother to ward off the bullies in the neighborhood. Another pair of F16's are inbound on the Smerch batteries, they're carrying JDAMs. This should give the men on the cruisers a break so they can concentrate on shipping and air defense. The '16's drop their ordnance on target, after the JDAM's hit they make strafing runs till they're Winchester. The threat to the Ticos is gone. The F-16's roll off target, turn on their radars and scan for enemy aircraft. They'll be on station another 15 minutes before they're bingo. Beagle and I make the turn towards the Ticos. So far this mission is going as planned. Nails! The RWR says Mig29 radar, which could also be Flanker. I tell Beagle go gates as we point our noses towards the Ticos. Hopefully there are enough obstacles in between the bandit to keep his interest away from our flight. I tell AWACS that we're approaching the cruisers, the Ticos reply that they see us and ask us to orbit south of them as they're engaged with bandits. Within minutes my RWR is clean and the Ticos tell us that there are no air threats. FAC calls us in hot. The target area is just to the left of the landmass jutting out like a hook. I ingress to the target area. Master Arm on, I select Mk-84's in pairs in my weapons panel. I select auto program on my ECM panel as I nose over for my first drop. Chaff and flares are automatically being dropped. Beagle is flying parallel with the coast calling out SAM launches and to provide SEAD if necessary. I'm diving at the proper angle and I place the pipper over the target. I feel my plane shudder as two tons of high explosives leave the pylons. I kick hard left rudder and place the pipper over the second bunker. My dive angle still looks good so I decide to pickle the second pair of bombs. I pull 7.5 g's as I come out of my bomb run. The plane is several tons lighter and responds crisply. The bombs are on target. The northern wall of the compound is destroyed but I managed to avoid destroying the mosque. -
POL Coastal Defenses AAR Part 1

This is an AAR for one of the missions in my LMR Ground Attack Pack. These missions are for use with the LockOn Mission Randomizer. The situation is tense, the enemy has moved in mobile SAM and Smerch units along the coast. They're denying access to the harbors due south of Kirovskoye. Ticonderoga cruisers have been dispatched to the area to help suppress the enemy along the coast. The Tico's go to battle stations as enemy Smerch units open fire upon them. The unguided rockets aren't very accurate but they fire in large salvos. There's a very real possibility that the Ticos could be damaged. Luckily, the defensive manuevers by the ships spoil the aim of the shore batteries. The Ticos phased array radars pick up enemy aircraft inbound. Fast movers. F-14 on station head to intercept the bandits. The cruisers use their first line of defense against airborne threats, the RIM-66. It's the standard medium range radar guided anti-aircraft missile. With their phased array radars they can target dozens of enemy at once. The Ticos fire multiple missiles at the incoming bandits. Su17 ground attack aircraft are inbound. If they're carrying anti-shipping missiles they didn't get close enough to launch, they jettison their payloads and go defensive. They don't have much of a chance. Upon first glance it seems that this RIM-66 will be wasted. Bandit number one had a wingman, who doesn't have much more time to stay airborne. All of this has happened in the brief period of time that myself and my wingman Beagle were in briefing and suiting up for our mission. Our mission is to hit two ammo bunkers situated in a walled compound that contains a mosque. We've been instructed to avoid destroying the mosque if at all possible. We'll be carrying Mk-84's for the ammo dumps. I hope our aim is good....................Beagle and I preflight our a/c and roll out of the revets. We are cleared to taxi to runway three zero. Two F-16's fly over our airbase. It's comforting to see that we'll have more air support in the target area. Hopefully we won't have to loiter for long. -
Same here, dark chocolate rawks. I miss those Reeses too. I've been both places, and FL has nothing on HI. Out of all the places in the world where I'd like to live, HI is in the top 2.

It's simple, if you want FC then SF is part of it. There's no choice except if you buy it or not. -
At least I don't have any on my back. Those aren't real pearls either. lolzer

Blue Screen of Death!

Moorkey, I doubt you'll be able to run LOMAC with that video card. It's far below minimum specs to run this game. -

All I have is a pic of me in my rock and roll uniform. I was prolly 24 in the pic. I'm the dude in the middle. I hope ya'll get a kick out of it. I do when I look back .Dave, that's a damn fine haircut! ;) Nice pics everyone. Beautiful bride Fast Cargo. The only two things I ever wanted to be were (in order) Fighter Pilot and rock star. Since my less than perfect vision screwed me out of the first I took a shot at the second.......

And with that I thank all of you who have served or are serving. Even though I don't bring it up on any of the forums very often I think about our troops every day. One of our squaddies deployed a couple days ago. He's in Pave Lows. He's a brave mofo who continued to tell us how safe his job is. Yeah right, 50 feet off the deck at 150kts in the dark. Yeah, I'm worried about him. Every day. It takes a special kind of person whose sole reason is to serve his country. There is no more selfless act than that. Some of you might "know" him. He flew with the Virtual Thunderbirds, he was Lead Solo. Handle is Striker. If you're reading this Striker we think about you every day. That crazy nerd voice you do on comms, we still laugh about that stuff. And for that I salute you that serve. It's the only thing I can do that shows you how much respect I have for what you do.

My grandpa used to set me down at the beginning of summer, grab the shears and give me a haircut similar to that. When he was done he'd slap me on the back and say "That's a damn fine haircut, Marine". Gawd I used to cry. I was only 6 or 7 when it started.
