  1. After Action Reports

If anyone has any requests for mission types or aircraft let me know.
  2. Just looking back

I still have my ride from High School. It has a new interior, motor, tranny and paint though. ;)
  3. I'm pulling G's and altitude and as the motor burns out I can see that this is gonna be close. At the time I don't realize that Beagle is off of my 3 o'clock and he's jinking and dropping countermeasures. The Strela won't be firing another shot. The Mav finds it's mark. My countermeasures fooled it and it re-acquired Beagle's jet. Beagle had quite an altitude advantage and the SAM just didn't have enough kinetic energy to climb to Beagle's altitude. The SAM explodes harmlessly behind and above me. That was closer than I'd have liked. I climb out with the convoy on my 9 o'clock, I want to have some altitude on the next run in. I select FFARs as I roll in on target, it looks like the F'16's have shown up. You can see one popping flares at the head of the convoy. They're carrying HARMs and since we've disposed of anti air assets they'll move on farther to the east to take out a KUB site. I line up the convoy in my sights, and I give each vehicle several pairs of rockets, as seen thru the HUD recording. Brakes on to stabilize my airspeed. I'd hate to have to see those FFARs from the receiving end.... All that's left are soft skinned targets, it's GAU-8 time. One last tanker, and I got him! I guess we'll save the Mk.84's for some other time. ;) Beagle and I are low on fuel so we head for home. It's been an exciting day and I hope I don't have to look down the throat of a Strela ever again.
  4. Ageia PhysX ?

GRAW 2 uses Phys-X, but if you play m/p like I do alot of that Phys-X goodness is disabled.
  5. Beagle (my wingman) and I were tasked to escort a flight of C-17's that were delivering much needed supplies (and mail ;) ) to one of our forward bases. The weather report called for rainstorm and heavy cloud cover from 4,000 to 12,000 feet. As Beagle and I climbed thru the clouds we joined up with our escorts. Visibility above the storm was 40 miles. Below, it was 300 feet. AWACS calls out bogeys 50 miles to our 10 o'clock so Beagle and I go burner and climb to Angels 20. I call nose hot and Beagle calls same. We're carrying '120's and 9's so I switch to TWS mode and tell Beagle to spread out line abreast. We want to spread out so that we can divide our work between us and make targeting more difficult for the enemy. I bug the bogeys in TWS mode as I ask AWACS to declare. They come back with "Contact is hostile" just as my radar tells me what type of a/c they are. I tell Beagle "weapons free" and to engage bandits. With 4 targets on radar Beagle calls the first pair. As he calls Fox 3, then Fox 3 again I see the '120's drop from the jet and fire their motors. I call Fox 3. It takes the AMRAAMs about 17 seconds to reach their targets as we F-Pole and keep the targets bugged to provide datalink info for the 120's. Splash two! The bandits didn't perform an evasive manuever and I doubt that they knew we had fired on them. I turn back into the bandits as their flight path passes between me and my wingman. One more Mig 25 explodes as he vainly manuevers to avoid the AMRAAM. The seeker head going active didn't give him much time to jink as it set off his RWR. Beagle calls out "engaged defensive", one of our 120's has missed. I see the smoke trail of a missile reach out towards Beagle as I put 6 g's on the a/c to get a firing solution on the last '25. I have a visual on him and the sun is to my 7 o'clock, so I switch the radar to sniff and I uncage a sidewinder. The bandit seems focused on Beagle and with no radar warning he doesn't "see" me. I hear the growl of the seeker change pitch and I fire. I key up the mic and call Fox 2. The sidewinder does it's little dance as it streaks towards the Foxbat. The sidewinder hits the right side of the aircraft near the nozzle and explodes. I tell Beagle I splashed the bandit and the wing separates from the '25. I call AWACS in case there are any bandits that we've missed. They come back with one word, "Clean". I do a quick sweep with my radar and request a vector back to our C-17's. The '17's thank us for the protection as Beagle forms up on me. Control calls and says that they're vectoring another flight of Eagles to take over for the final leg of the flight. Beagle and I head for home plate as our big stick is gone, we've only AIM 9's left on our pylons.
  6. My wingman Beagle and I are loitering around the FEBA, available for CAS should the need arise. We're loaded with Mk.84's, Mavs and Rockeyes so we're ready should any situation arise. FAC's on the ground report that a column of armor is rolling thru one of the many towns that dot the coastline. We're the closest flight available so we're vectored to the last reported position of the column. F16's are inbound but won't be on station for another 15 minutes. I tell Beagle to spread out and call SAM launches. I roll in. Running straight in from the coast I use my Mav seeker to take a closer look at what we're dealing with. I spot A/A and SAM unit's traveling with the convoy. I lock up the SAM unit and call Rifle. I'm still a ways out so I lock the Shilka and fire. Rifle! This is gonna hurt. The convoy is now unprotected. I split S, and make a 90 degree climbing turn so that I can see the target area. I key up the mic and call Beagle in hot. He dives in and targets the heavy armor (T-80's). He makes his run and climbs out and tells me he has eyes on the target. I'm at Angels 8 so I attack at a steep dive. Guns, Guns! I get hits on a T-80 and it catches fire. Beagle runs in and delivers some Rockeye's, he drops a stick of singles at 25ms apart. Nothing is left moving and Beagle and I climb out to an altitude of Angels 11. The FAC calls and steers us towards the east, a much larger convoy is rolling towards the carnage we left behind. I grab my binoculars and scan towards the east. Beagle and I roll in from the coast again perpendicular to the convoy, they most likely have SAM and A/A assets and it's easier to pick out our targets with this type of approach. I ground stabilize my Mav and magnify, then I search the column for air threats. Beagle calls a Shilka 4th vehicle from the front of the convoy, I tell him there's a Strela at the rear. He's locked and in range of the Shilka so I call him in hot. I'm having a contrast problem and at max range I'm still not able to fire. I'm not sure the SAM unit has spotted us as his launchers are still stowed in the top of the chassis. As soon as the Shilka explodes I see the launchers raise and aim towards me. I finally get a launch cue (flashing cross) and call Rifle. The Strela launches at the exact same time I do. This isn't good! I kick hard right rudder and pull the aircraft into a descending turn 90 degrees to the launch. My ECM panel is programmed to dump 3 pairs of flares at a time so I hit the button several times. Since SAM's follow a lead pursuit course by flying perpendicular to the missile I force it to maneuver and trade speed for altitude. I'm gaining speed and dropping flares like crazy. My throttles are firewalled and I'm about to pull some heavy G's to gain altitude. I'm hoping that the short burn time of the rocket motor won't give the missile enuf oomph to reach a higher altitude. The Strela fired at max range so I have a chance. As the motor burns I can see the smoky finger reaching out towards me.
  7. I take one last shot at a Ka52 attack chopper, as I exit the target area. I figure one Maverick for a chopper is a good tradeoff. I'm able to lock the Mav right away. "Rifle". Direct hit. AWACS calls the airspace free of bandits so Beagle drops down and launches a coupld Mavs at a convoy at his 11 o'clock low. I line up for a gun run and with all the smoke and fire I don't see the Strela till it's too late. Uh, this isn't good! I feel the aircraft shudder as Betty screams at me "Hydraulics Failure". I don't have time to do a quick check to see if I still have both wings as the Strela fires again. I dump flares as fast as I can and the missile fails to track. It's been blinded. I take a quick look down and see my speed brakes are deployed. There's no way they're going to close with a hydraulic failure so now I'm nose up, slow and the plane is handling terribly. I continue to drop flares in large amounts because I just "know" that I'm still in range and being tracked. I'm hoping that the flares are enough to keep the next missile from damaging my plane further. Beagle screams at me, "Missile 6 o'clock! Whomp! I hear the shrapnel from the SAM pepper the aircraft. That one was close but I'm still flying! There's one left in that launcher and with me out of range Beagle is his target. Beagle is dropping flares and the SAM explodes behind him. There are some holes in his aircraft but no major damage, at least according to Betty. I take a minute to get the plane flying straight and level as I switch the controls over to manual reversion. Now I'm using the backup pulley and cable system to keep my bird aloft. I can manage 190 kts. at 100% power and my speedbrakes are locked open. I get on the radio and call Mayday. I give my position relative to Bullseye. I intend to fly this thing home if at all possible as SAR choppers are vectored to my area should I have to eject. Beagle follows me in trail, as he handles all the radio calls. I'm having a heck of a time flying the plane, it takes alot more muscle with no boosted controls. I'm leaking fuel out of my right wing. I try to calculate my fuel loss rate and fuel consumption to get a quick guesstimate on whether I'll be able to make it home. There are no emergency bases closer and I don't relish the thought of having to land this thing on a road with no hydraulics. After 15 minutes of (relatively) uneventful flying I drop my gear and turn onto ILS approach. Tower calls me in and scrambles the crash trucks. I have no flaps. I'm going to have to put it down 35kts faster than a standard approach. Tower tells me I'm on glidepath and I hear the outer perimeter warning as I fly over it. I follow the ILS all the way in and set 'er down on the numbers. I roll out to the end of the runway, and I'm thankful that we're flying out of one of he longer bases in theatre. I park on the apron just off of the main runway and shut down my engines. My plane is leaking fuel all over. Beagle lands several minutes behind me. We head off for debriefing and then to talk to my crew chief to see how badly I damaged his aircraft...........
  8. This is an AAR for one of the missions in my LMR Ground Attack Pack. These missions are for use with the LockOn Mission Randomizer. Briefing for todays mission: My wingman Beagle and I receive clearance from the tower to take off, we climb out to waypoint one where we'll reach Angels 8 on our final altitude of Angels 17. Our RWR shows us the "29" symbol, which tells me it's a Slotback radar, the same type used on the Mig29, Su27 and Su33. We'll be paying close attention to the radio calls and to make sure the Bandit's signal doesn't move into the middle circle, as they'd be within firing range at that point. Two flights of F16's have been tasked to eliminate SAM threats in the target area. They're carrying HARMs to clear the way for us to crater the runway. Over VHF freq's we hear a flight of F15's call engaged with a pair of Mig29's. As we're still climbing out and feet wet we stay on the 15's channel and listen. We hear Fox 1 and 3 calls as well as "engaged defensive, Archer!" It sounds like the 15's pushed thru to WVR and it's a close range fight. The Migs are particularly dangerous with their helmet mounted sights and R73 IR missiles. "Splash one!" comes in clearly over comms. The pilot is breathing heavily and we hear his Sidewinder tone clearly as he transmits. We hear "Magnum" over the radio, it sounds like the F16's are within range and are firing their HARMs. They're calling out targets and from the gist of it the airbase is heavily defended with Shilka A/A guns all the way up to KUB SAM sites. Off in the distance we see numerous missile trails as smokey fingers from the HARMs reach out to destroy their targets. AWACS relays info to us that all emitters in the target area have ceased. The 16's run in low over the target and strafe whats left of the KUB site. They make one pass and head home. As we approach waypoint 3 I tell Beagle to spread out in trail and I bank right to give myself a bit more distance so I can line myself up for my bomb run. I set my bomb computer to drop all four Mk84's, one at a time with a ripple interval of 3/4 of a second. This should destroy a large portion of the runway if I fly the correct flight path. I also toggle on my Master Arm switch. I'm about to turn into the target, I'll be flying down the length of the runway dropping my ordnance the length of it. I pitch the nose down a bit, deploy speed brakes and lock the target point midway down the runway. I lock altitude at Angels 17 and activate CCRP mode. The square box with the dot appears at the top of the "fall line". I fly my velocity vector and the box starts to make it's way down the fall line. The left bottom side of the HUD tells me that I'm 7 kilometers from the impact point. When the bombs drop I should have plenty of time to turn away so that I don't have to overfly the impact area. You never know when a tricky SAM operator is playing possum, or if there are MANPADS. Remaining above Angels 10 will negate the MANPADS part of that equation. The nose pitches up as the bombs drop from the racks. All four 2000 pounders are gone in 3 seconds. Shack!! I turn away and I call Beagle in weapons hot. I'll orbit counterclockwise near the target to call SAM launches for my wingman. He's was far enough behind in trail that he doesn't have to spend much time lining up his run. He lines up on my hits and runs in on the target. He gets four hits down the rest of the runway. The airbase is officially non-operational. He turns away and I run in hot on a group of 4 helos parked on the apron. I'm carrying one Rockeye so I select it and drop on the helos, I pull up hard and load G's on the aircraft to make myself harder to hit. I get three of the four choppers.
  9. Holy Moly!

HBD Foobster!!! We all pitched in and got you a midget hooker. She's hawt too! Let us know how you like her.
  10. Long Live Fidel?

I hope he's gone and that the Cubans can get their country back. They deserve so much more than what they've been forced to endure the past 50 years.
  11. On a Sad Note...

My prayers go out to the family and friends of that fine, brave young man.
  12. Why Why Why Why Why?

My favorite excuse is where people blame their childhood. They weren't loved, their mommy was an alkie, etc. There comes a time as an adult where you have to be responsible for everything you do.
  13. The original thread, it's in german but a picture says a thousand words. http://www.lockonforum.de/thread.php?postid=24936#post24918
  14. I think that's a bug. There have been issues with saved states since day one.
  15. CRCP +1. You made it on the leaderboard Goya. Congrats!!!
  16. Steve, Susan, Gloria. Thats 3 names.
  17. Beagle runs in again and targets the S300 radar. Rifle! Beagle makes a CCRP run on the last Strela. The Rockeye does it's job. With no more air defenses, the S300 site is easy pickings. The launchers are still lined up straight so I orient my aircraft for multiple drops along their axis. Nose down, CCIP mode. I pickle the last four Mk20's on the pylons. They hit their mark. AWACS calls to tell us that we've 2 Mig's inbound, at our 7 o'clock and 80 miles. Beagle joins up with me and we drop altitude to put the mountains in between us and the Migs. Any time you can put your plane down in one piece you've had a great day. As usual, I put it down on the numbers. ;) There's a photo recon mission planned for later tonite to verify that we destroyed the S300 site. While Beagle and I know there's nothing left but smoking metal, the brass likes to see the pictures. Next time I take a Polaroid with me......................
  18. Got Word From The Navy

The highest honor you can bestow on a person is to grant their last wishes. I'm glad the Navy is facilitating that.
  19. The thread got out of hand and someone above my pay grade thought it should go. :D
  20. In your Config/View folder is all the files to change for views. I took a look thru them and they all coincide with the view from within or the exterior of the aircraft. I don't see anything regarding ground units.
  21. I think those are hard coded.
  22. Got Word From The Navy

    <S!>
  23. I've had this one written for a while and since I haven't had time to write any new AARs I figured this would tide ya'll over. Briefing: A recent B-52 missile strike has disabled the SA-10 site at Sochi. Lead a precision attack to destroy any remaining launchers at the site before they can be made operational. Watch for short-range air defenses. Beagle and I arrive on station with plenty of daylight available to complete our mission. I put the target area on my 3 o'clock as I view the area thru my image stabilized binoculars. There's an S300 site about to go operational, and there are Strelas and Shilkas at the front and to the rear of the site. We climb for altitude and I tell Beagle to spread out in trail, to call SAM launches for me. As I turn in towards the coast I scan with my K Maverick. I'm not thrilled to be loaded out with these as launch range is much closer with them and there's no scene mag on the TV screen. I have a good idea where the Strela is at and he pops out of the fog as I slew my pipper over him. I'm climbing slightly as I'm targeting him, as I'll need the altitude to trade for speed when I put him on my right wing and point the nose down. The firing cross blinks, Rifle! The Mav jumps off of the rail. I pull hard on the stick, kick hard left rudder and point the nose down. If the Strela fires I want to gain as much speed as possible as the missile tracks me. The missile follows a lead pursuit course so the more I maneuver the more speed the missile bleeds off. Over comms I hear Beagle call the SAM launch. I get no launch warning so I know immediately that this is an IR guided missile. I dump flares in pairs of three as fast as I can hit the button. Now that the missile is aiming itself at a point in front of my plane near the water. I put 6 g's on the jet as I pull straight back on the stick, the missile has to attempt to put itself several thousand feet above and in front of me if it's going to hit me. I'm 40 degrees nose up and at 300 kts. I pull harder on the stick and go nose higher, I gamble that the missile doesn't have enough energy to climb to my altitude and that my flares have confused it's seeker head. I hear "Shack!" over the radio and I know my Mav has guaranteed that I won't be dodging a second SAM from the Strela. Beagle spots a chopper low over the water, and I briefly see him as I'm rolling my plane away from the coast. I tell him to kill the chopper. Fox 2! Ten seconds later the chopper is gone.......... I climb back to Angels 10 and place the target area on my left wing. I break out the binos and quickly orient myself with the placement of the rear Strela/Shilka combo. At this altitude I'm safe from the Shilka on the coast so for now I ignore it and target the rear Strela. Beagle is eyes on and will call any launches for me. At 3 miles I get the blinking cross and I pickle the weapon. Rifle! I'm considerably lighter so I split S to place as much distance between myself and my target as possible. Boom! I circle the target area and call Beagle in hot. I target the Shilka on the coast and lock him up in CCRP mode. Even though I'm below 10k feet I climb at 25 fps to "toss" a Rockeye. Even so, I'm flying wings level and as straight as possible which makes me an easy target. The target "box" drops down the bomb fall line and the bomb releases from the shackles. I bank hard right and pull 6 g's to get out of the Shilka's range. I start to kick right rudder because I want to point the nose downhill to gain speed. The Shilka dies a fiery death and I'm in great shape. I'm flying away from the coastline (the bad guys) and I have plenty of airspeed.
  24. It's not gonna happen. The guys who are hardcore modelers are few and far between and are re-doing existing flyables.
  25. I've left out a squiggly bracket "}" in my graphics.cfg file and when I started the game it deleted a third of it. :D
