  1. Nice job! DCS World looks stunning at this point. Unfortunately, I lose that quality when I fly VR.
  2. I try to rotate through everything but find myself flying the F-5E a bit more than anything else, but I really enjoy flying the F-86F as well. I try to get in at least one flight every night... either a cold ramp start/takeoff/landing or a quick dogfight. Some nights, I start flying early and go to bed way too late. Nevada is my favorite terrain... a throwback to Jane's USAF. So any aircraft that has a quick start air-to-air mission over Nevada gets some of my flying time.
  3. SU-57 and wow

The F-35 is no sweetheart, but its Boeing competitor was even worse.
  4. Track IR and FE 2

This is an ini file for each individual aircraft the filename is the name of the aircraft followed by "_cockpit.ini". This is applicable to both SF2 and FE2 games as they are essentially the same engine and use almost the same codebase.
  5. SU-57 and wow

Looks like a cross between and F-23 and an Su-27. I have never cared much for the looks of an F-22 as it is more or less a fat ugly version of an F-15 with stealth features. The production F-22 is sleeker than the prototype, but it is still ugly from many angles. The F-23 is just racially different from anything else flying. I would have gambled on developing the F-23 into a production aircraft rather than going with the "conservative" F-22. Su-57 looks very nice, but I think the F-23 is the standout aircraft despite never going into production.
  6. Mig Monday Video

MiG-25s, as originally built, carried 4xAA-6 Acrid and had no gun. Theoretically 2xIRM and 2xRHM. They were built to intercept high altitude Mach 3 aircraft like the XB-70 and SR-71. They were not dogfighters and had no lookdown/shootdown capability. The most useful variants were the recce versions, which were poor man's SR-71s. An Iraqi MiG-25PD most likely shot down an F/A-18 with an AA-6 during Desert Storm.
  7. Track IR and FE 2

The game developer decides which things to support or not support. TK/Third Wire was an early supporter of the original TrackIR with 3 DOF. When "Vector" was released supporting 6 DOF, he added moving left/right, up/down, but did not add the ability to tilt your head. The left/right and up/down are also very limited movements. All Third Wire games support TrackIR in "Enhanced Mode", which means the game was designed to use it fully/correctly. Once you can get TrackIR working correctly in your games, the key is to create custom profiles to match your preferences. I like to disable all of the TrackIR button functions except "Recenter", and I map that one to the POV hat center "push-down" position on my throttle in all of my games. I also uncheck the "trap" option so that I can still use that same button in games to reset my view to the default forward view... so one button brings me back to the default view and recalibrates my TrackIR center at the same time. I just have to be looking at the center of the screen when I do so to get the re-center correct. It takes some time playing with the axis profiles to find out what you like. Smooth? Fast? Deadband? Flat curve? Ramped curve? I can't tell you what to do. Just pick and axis and try switching between the default profiles as well as playing with the speed and smoothness settings. You may like different profiles for different games.
  8. Track IR and FE 2

You shouldn't need mouse emulation for FE2, 5 out of 6 degrees of freedom TrackIR support is built in.
  9. I say, RAF now lets in beards!

There is a double standard on beards in the US Navy. They were banned at some point in the 1970s. But, if shaving causes an issue with your skin, a doctor's note exempts you from having to shave. So, I can't have a beard because it will mess up the seal on my emergency air breathing mask, but the guy next to me that is allergic to shaving can have a beard even though it means his mask won't seal? All I want is consistency: either beards are ok or they aren't. If someone else can do the job with a beard, why not me?
  10. I say, RAF now lets in beards!

So let me get this straight: beards were out, but now that the population includes a lot of people that won't give up their beards for religious reasons, beards are ok? Someone is not meeting their recruitment goals or someone has bent to political correctness.
  11. YAP: the company that threatens to prosecute anyone "borrowing" their work for anything, including posting screenshots that they don't like, but built over half of their products by "borrowing" other people's work.
  12. This would be a fun aircraft to fly, especially in VR.
  13. You simply have to be more creative: For example, you can save down from 2014 to 2012, correct? Then from 2012 you can save down to 2009, correct? Where there is a will, there is a way.
  14. I don't even have .NET 1.1 installed just the 3.5 which is an option in the turn windows features on/off. The exe I provided is the one that was modified to support .NET 2.0. I have a zip file of the original unmodified 1.6.4 application and I also have a zip file of the original installer version with the setup exe. The version I have provided is the one that I have been using since Windows XP and just copying/pasting the entire folder to new PC hard drives.
  15. Three options: 1) Continue to deal with it. 2) Move on to a more modern sim. 3) Write your own sim :P
  16. I had no trouble running on my work laptop, a win 7 64 pc that had not been used for gaming. The only thing that I can think of is that my work applications probably insured the installed multiple versions of .NET. My Win10 PC was upgraded from Win 7, but it shows the .NET 3.5 framework as being installed which supports .NET 2.0 and .NET 3.0. The original application was written for .NET 1.1 and it was broken when .NET 2.0 came out. .NET 2.0 came with a compatibility tool that somehow fixed the problem when you ran it on the exe. The tool may still exist within later versions of .NET, but I haven't ever needed it all the way to Windows 10 after the initial fix to make it work with .NET 2.0. Capslock acts as a toggle. When you first press it, there should be a sound to indicate the mic has been toggled to listen, then it should be quiet waiting for you to speak. If you hit capslock again, it should make the sound again, disable the mic, and then go silent. Try playing the wav files in the folder to make sure your PC's audio format is compatible with the format the utility is trying to use. Have you tested you speech recognition engine to see if it recognizes what you are saying?
  17. Has anyone downloaded and tested it yet? I tried it on my work laptop (Win 7 64), but my work laptop already had multiple versions of .net installed to support my work applications. I can point people who need basic support to the wayback machine's record of the old support forums (where I originally documented how to keep Shoot running after WinXP and .NET 1.1 was superceded).
  18. View File Shoot Voice Command Utility This is an old application that was written for .net 1.1, but I have used the built in .net compatibility tool to make it compatible with more recent versions which allows it to run on Window 7 64-bit and Windows 10 64-bit OS. I have also included the profile editor that was released before the host website shut down. Shoot can be buggy at times, but closing the application and restarting gets it working well again. 19. I don't know when or if it will be approved, but I have uploaded a zipped folder of my working copy of Shoot 1.6.4 including the profile editor. Just "extract here" to get a "Shoot 1.6.4" folder. You will have to make your own shortcuts for the voice command utility and the profile editor. I included all of my profiles as examples. The only ones I use are the DCS World profiles. The others are mainly default profiles. I have included my original SFP1/WoV profile. You have to edit the profiles to select your mic "key". You can toggle the mic or require the desired key(s)/button(s) to be held down while speaking. I prefer the latter.

  21. Voice Attack is very capable and being maintained up to date with continuous patches and great support. Shoot works fairly well, especially considering its age and the fact that it is free, but you have to deal with its principal issue: it can get behind in executing commands and the only solution is to restart the program/reload the profile. But I have used Shoot with DCS World for years with minimal issues because all it needs is a good mic and a good speaking voice to minimize the problem. In the case of DCS World, Voice Attack is awesome with the third party DCS World plugin. It allows you to disable the text and the pilot voice that repeats what you say, making it feel like you are really having a conversation in VR rather than a 3rd person/text chat experience.
  22. I need to test the zip file I have made on another PC that has never had Shoot installed to make sure it works right. It is a dot net program, so it is possible an older version(s) of dot net may be required to be installed. Once I know it works on a clean Win10 PC with no issues, I will upload what I have, which has been running on Win7 64 and now Win10 64. I also have a profile editor tool that was released before the website disappeared. I never used it because I know how to edit the profiles using text editors, but if it works correctly, it may be very useful for those less inclined to cut and paste xml files. If my zip file works, all you will have to do is extract the file "here", which includes a Shoot 1.6.4 folder. Double click on the exe file in the folder and open a profile from the profiles folder, then you are up and running. You have a profile open in a text editor while running the program, but you have to make sure you save any changes as you go along and reopen the profile for the changes to take effect. You can program various inputs to act as a mic button and can configure the buttons to be momentary or toggle.
  23. It is late and I am tired, but I have the final version of Shoot, and equally important: I know how to get it running correctly on Windows 7/Windows 10 PCs. If CombatAce doesn't have a problem with it, I could upload the install file and some supporting information to help others use it. It is not perfect, but if it doesn't get "confused", it works exceptionally well. If it does get "confused", you just have to stop it and start it again. What happens sometimes is some sort of memory que bug. The command executions fall behind. A command fails to execute, so you repeat it again one or more times and from then on, every time you say a new command, one of the other phrases you previously said is executed. But if you have a good mic and a clear speaking voice with little or no background noise, it doesn't do that very often if at all. I have used it with SF/SF2 in the past, but have been using it with DCS World until very recently. I am migrating to VoiceAttack because it has a dedicated third party DCS World plugin that works exceptionally well. In some ways, I still like Shoot better, but VoiceAttack with the DCS World plugin is tied directly into the game engine giving it a lot more power and flexibility than Shoot, which can only emulate keyboard functions as opposed to accessing the game-engine's full potential. The only problem is learning the "vocabulary" of the Voice Attack plugin. Whereas I programmed Shoot to have exactly the comms I wanted with custom profiles for all of my favorite aircraft.
  24. F-14 cockpit

AFAIK, the only 3d model source code TK ever allowed to be used by modders was the stolen F-4 model. So what you really want is for an SF2 modder to build a new F-14 cockpit to higher standards than the stock Third Wire model.
