When I got my new pc, I jumped straight from XP to Windows 8. At first, I couldn't stand it, because I couldn't seem to do things the way I was used to doing them, but once I learned how Windows 8 does things, I found it quite easy to use. I did have to look up one tutorial page on the web (multiple windows), but once I did that, I found my initial problems disappeared, and I liked the internet page type of navigation within a window. Just a question of an old dog proving he could learn new tricks. There are still things I don't like about the way it does some things, but there were things I didn't like about the way XP did things, and 95 did things, etc. It starts much faster, and it's very stable.

@Colmack. Great stuff. WW2 Pacific is about to explode, you can just feel it coming. Now for a screenshot. The face so many of us love... -

USS Nevada, or Oklahoma. I'll post a screenie later. -
Please don't get TK started down this road. Yes, there are things that would be nice to have included, but, as Panama so perfectly points out, he would only add them in his usual way, by breaking a lot of things that the modders here have spent countless hours on, so at the very best it would be, "row east by day, and west by night." I know it sounds absurd, but this sim is better off left to the modders here, than to involve TK in it again. They'll do a better job of it. If the dog bites when it's awake, let it sleep...

Has anyone gotten naval maps to work for the two terrains included in the expansion? I put all the relevant information into the terrain inis, created a special water map based off Kodiak's (thanks for all those maps, Kodiak!) which puts the US Navy definately behind the front lines, but naval aircraft still launch from land bases in these terrains. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, because I've gotten naval maps to work in all the other full five merged terrains I have. I've got to be missing something, I just can't figure out what it is.

Not much photographed... I believe in close Balloon protection.

Cutting it close. But back on the deck. Before the cloud mod. Strangest thing about this shot is that I was so intent on getting the screenie of my missile going after the Mig in the distance that I didn't even notice this going by. Unfortunately, they had another one! -

I hear you, Arthur! Now, the obligatory screenshots: Hard to fly, even on normal mode, but fun! At least I got it back on the ground. -
Visibility is a major issue, SupGen, but you'll get used to it. Some crates are notoriously bad when it comes to seeing while pulling lead on an aircraft. You'll often lose sight of your opponent, but most times you can anticipate where he'll be. Then again... You'll have a huge install once you get everything downloaded, the modders in First Eagles have given the sim a depth you won't find in any other WW1 sim at present. A salute to them all. Just a few more things: You'll learn to fear head on passes. Fly in hard mode with visual sighting set to hard. It's a hoot. Try to turn off as many game aids, map icons, etc., as you can. You may have a towel, but you don't have a parachute, so good luck. The modders have made this one of the most enjoyable WW1 sims of all time, both for game play, and visually, so enjoy!

Naval Maps for eburger68's SF2V Air and Ground Expansion

It may be because of copyright issues. I often take my own mp3s and run them through one of the free wav converters you can find online, but I can't share them here, because of copyright. If you find a way to do it, it adds a lot to the game to have period music, I feel, anyway. -

Now that I have it working, I can honestly say this mod is an absolute must have. There is so much in this mod, it's hard to describe it all. Although, I did add some period music touches I have. Now I "run through the jungle," and "don't look back to see." Thanks, SupGen. -

That's how fried my brain is today! Okay. Took my brain out. Cleaned in the sink with a toothbrush, then reinstalled that. Once that was back in, I followed your actual instructions and problem solved. Thanks, SupGen. Bet you can't wait for my next question, can you? -

I moved all the mentioned ships to a folder called "holder" in my ground objects folder. When I did, what appeared to be a naval task group suddenly appeared on my planning map, but my A6as were still taking off from South Vietnamese airfields. When I clicked to see what ships were in the "task force," they were all amphibious ships. I'm letting this go for tonight SupGen. Thanks for trying to help, but as I said in my other post, something must be seriously fried in my mod install, so I think it's time to start over, using your information as a guide when I reinstall. -

Heck replied to Heck's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Thanks, SupGen. There has to be something totally messed up in my mod installation, because even those didn't work. I'm going to unistall it, and reinstall it step by step another day, but right now fighting with this has given me a headache, so I'm going to fly for a while in my main SF2V install, which launches carrier strikes without a problem. Blowing things up clears my head. Thanks for trying to help, but when a modder like you gives me stuff and it doesn't work, that means Uncle Heck has fudged something up somewhere. So, it's time to make Uncle Ho's ears ring for a while... -

@ Panama Red. I think this is your cloud mod, pulled from Nato Fighters 5. It is seriously gorgeous in SF2V. And another. Boy, that wasn't the three wire. Thought I was going to make another trip around. But, I got three 21s, so the day wasn't a total loss. Even got a Sparrow to guide... One more. The clouds are so pretty. -

Pretty, pretty.... Speak softly. And carry a big missile. -
I'm amazed you can still see, my friend. And I'm very glad I have this nice big hard drive now. I know it will be worth the wait, When it comes to your skins, patience is always rewarded.

Absolutely gorgeous! Are you using four decals on the cowl? I was going to suggest it, but figured you might have tried it.

I think it shows some fine character that you would be concerned enough with our military veteran's opinion (I am not one myself) that you would ask. And it is a cool sig. Keep it.
