  1. That's just it, FC. I did exactly what you said. I always have.
  2. "Korea, Korea, Korea. here we come..."
  3. Until tonight, I've been playing this sim on a 2.6 ghz single core with a 256meg video card. Through some good fortune, I was able to pick up a quad core with a 1 gig Nvidia card. Now I can fly on high graphics with the sole exception of shadows, which I have to leave at medium, and I still get smooth frame rates even in big furballs. The difference is amazing. Now I can truly see the incredible work the modders have done for this sim. Thank you all. I'm overwhelmed by the cities, the forests, the stands of poplar, the skins (thanks, Quack, and others). The only problem I've encountered is that Jan Tuma's Flanders ctds, although I can use his Vosgen, Cambrai, and Verdun without problems. Just something I have to track down, but that will wait a while, because I'm enjoying flying to much right now to bother just yet. Amazing sim. And amazing work by you all... Got Flanders fixed.
  4. I also want it because the thought of WW2 naval engagements strikes my fancy. Right now, all I have migrated from the old pc is FE2. And now, with all the Austrian and Italian front stuff out there, I have a whole other install of that to do. Glad I have 80gigs. I was flying over Vosegen last night in inclement weather. It was so cool. So cool.
  5. I know, Wrench. I'm transferring my SF2 slowly, and I'm going to break down and buy NA for the carrier ops. Can't wait to get your Korea transferred.
  6. Strange stuff. I had more than one Flanders.data.ini in my folder. Switching to another did the trick. It's a version that cuts down on some of the alpha and solid objects in the terrain.
  7. ... we had a driveable jeep mod for sf2. Just so I could drive around Wrench's terrains, like Korea, just to see all the sights.
  8. I have a WW2 Europe mods folder, which uses an expansion pack 2 exe. The only terrain in the mods folder is Battle of Britain, which has allowed dates set between 1938-1945 and limited nations. In the Single mission portion of the Options.ini the start and end dates are 1938 and 1945. Everything was working perfectly, until I chose to create a jpeg skin for my Bf-109e3, rather than a bitmap. This was the only change I made to the mod folder. No other changes were made. As soon as I ran the sim to look at this skin, I found the sim had added back all the modern aircraft and ground objects, which I had removed when I set the mod up. Now, each time I remove them and restart the sim, they all reappear, is if by TK #^*%$#$&&$ magic! Can someone explain to me what I'm missing? I don't want to leaf through 500 F-4 Phantoms to find the Hurricane 1 I want to fly.
  9. May have gotten it fixed, thanks to your suggestions. Thank you. The folks here are the best.
  10. Thanks, Guys. I'll give your suggestions a try, Wrench. I love the fact that you can mod this sim, but some of the things TK wants it to do "automatically" make you shake your head.
  11. Upgrades and Such to CombatACE

If I have any money left after my car inspection, I'll give what I can. Just got out of surgery myself, but I'm back to work now. It won't be much, times are tight right now. Sorry.
  12. Looking forward to them, and the Hurricane and 110 to follow. Great fms. Thank you.
  13. Actually, Baffmeister, I don't mind difficulty in 109, or Spit take offs. It's the way they were with those narrow track landing gears. That's why novices found the Hurricane easier to fly. Nice wide track. I find both 109 and Spit quite controllable on take off, especially now that I've removed the Spits flaps for take off. As far as the 109 goes, I find it quite easy to take off in yours, as long as I do what a British pilot flying the machine once mentioned, don't attempt to raise the tail yourself, let her fly herself off. When a sim aircraft has to be handled the way the real one was, according to testimony from a real life pilot, then I don't think there's much off in your flight modelling. Anyway, I'm thoroughly enjoying these. Thanks for all your hard work.
  14. Oh, I already downloaded Raven's beautiful Hurri with your skin pack, Wrench. Love the aircraft and the skins (especially the decal system). And I've already modded the engine data ala Baffmeister to give me early 80 Octane and late 100 Octane versions. Been flying, flight testing, and dogfighting over the Channel coast all evening. Sorry I misunderstood your instructions, but what I cooked up works for now. I'll flight test your version tomorrow. Two more days of vacation left. Ah, well. All good things got to come to an end...
  15. Okay, so here's what I changed: [LeftFlap] SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE CLiftdc=0.2488 CDdc=0.0320 Cmdc=-0.0050 DeltaStallAlpha=-8.48 AreaRatio=1.000 DeploymentMethod=MANUAL FlapSettingForLanding=2 FlapSettingForTakeOff=1 Setting[1].Angle=0.0 Setting[1].DeployValue=71.53 Setting[2].Angle=85.0 Setting[2].DeployValue=71.53 MaxDeflection=85.0 MinDeflection=0.0 ControlRate=0.2 ModelNodeName=LeftFlap //ReverseModelOrientation=TRUE AnimationID=4 [RightFlap] SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE CLiftdc=0.2488 CDdc=0.0320 Cmdc=-0.0050 DeltaStallAlpha=-8.48 AreaRatio=1.000 DeploymentMethod=MANUAL FlapSettingForLanding=2 FlapSettingForTakeOff=1 Setting[1].Angle=0.0 Setting[1].DeployValue=71.53 Setting[2].Angle=85.0 Setting[2].DeployValue=71.53 MaxDeflection=85.0 MinDeflection=0.0 ControlRate=0.2 ModelNodeName=RightFlap //ReverseModelOrientation=TRUE AnimationID=4 I have to see if the AI can even land with this, but it makes my bird take off with no flaps set. The only glitch is I have to hit the deploy flaps button twice to get the flaps to full extension for landing, but that's okay with me. I just gave it a quick spin, so I don't know if the AI can stomach it. I'll test. Thanks, Wrench. And thanks, Baffmeister, for these great fms. Any chance of a Hurricane 1 in the wings? And nobody be trash talkin' my Hurri. She won the Battle of Britain. The Spits were there for polish...
  16. Love these new fms. Put the Spit into a high speed dive and was delighted with the lack of aileron control at high speed. Even with any AI landing problems ("They can teach Monkeys to fly better than that!), these fms are awesome. The only thing I might mention is that the Spit 1 had only two flap positions from what I've read; none, and maximum. I always retract my flaps for takeoff, they were only used for landing.
  17. Let's All Give a Hand to Erik

Erik. I find it unbelievable that this person would persist in his (or her) personal crusade to be the top CombatAce troll for this many years. Someone, somewhere, must be giving an award we don't know about. I think you and the moderators have shown great restraint over the years in dealing with people like this, as evidenced by the fact that this is the first time I recall you talking about it openly. I'm saddened by the fact that you are restricting free email accounts, because that's the way I signed up many years ago, and I know the move will make it more difficult for new people to access the immense resources of this site. It is sad that one person is so egotistical that he (or she) is driven to make everyone else conform to his (or her) views to the point of restricting the access of honest people trying to enjoy this site. That is too much power for one person to have, but that's what this person is really getting off on, despite his (or her) claims to the righteousness of his (or her) arguments. But that's the internet, where people can be as destructive as their ego demands, hidden by its cloak of anonymity. And again, sadly, the only way this person could actually disprove my argument would be to do the one thing he (or she) will be the most unwilling to do; apologize for the harm they've caused, and go away. Yet, I know this person is telling themselves right now that all I'm doing is trying to manipulate them, and they're much too clever to be deceived like that, so we have the perfect Catch 22. This person doesn't have the power over themselves to lessen the grip of their own ego, so they will never have the decency to stop harming others.
  18. I think you're right about decals, Quack. Lots of variations in these squadrons lend themselves to decals. Do you have a liberty poster for the wings? I may still have one laying around somewhere on my hard drive, but it may be on my laptop that fried... It was on that laptop. Sorry. But you can find them on the net.
  19. Need a Favor From Our Community

Already did, Dave. Snowing here. Wasn't hard to do. Thanks for the reminder.
  20. I just remove the mirror from the ini when I fly in Korea. It's a fantastic cockpit. I just ignore the frame.
