  1. Last Minute Reprieve

Good for you and your wife, Piecemeal. The little guy will bring you a lot of joy. I agree with you on animal gift giving. It's something you should never do. You are committing another person to a lifelong commitment. And if the other person doesn't want, or can't handle that commitment, then you're condemning the animal to death, unless some kind and giving soul like yourself comes along, which really doesn't happen that often. Blessings to you and your wife for what you've done.
  2. Thanks for posting this, Olham. I have to admit I've spent many hours of my life perusing photographs from this period with a magnifying glass, trying to absorb every little detail of them that I could.
  3. New Arrival!

    Congratulations.
  4. Prayers and Positive Thoughts....

Both of you will be in my quiet heart.
  5. Mike Wallace Dead at 94

I too grew up watching him. And watching those he was interviewing squirm and prevaricate. Not many like him any more. Rest in peace.
  6. Airco DH9a

I think what these reports might be alluding to is the fact that many a two seater had a wing loading lower than that of many single seaters. These big two seaters couldn't roll as quickly, because of their long wingspans, and that's why so many times you read of them not being as "handy" as single seaters. They couldn't change direction as quickly as a single seater, but the higher powered ones could probably sustain nearly as tight a turn as a single seater, because of their low wing loading and decent SEP.
  7. AF Finance NCO awarded Bronze Star

My dad (God rest his soul), won his Bronze Star for dragging a newbie Lieutenant's a@@ out of the line of fire of two Japanese machine guns on Okinawa when their patrol was ambushed. This saddens me. I think there's a huge difference between putting your life on the line to save another human being and properly funding programs. I don't know what else to say...
  8. Very cool information. Thank you for sharing this with us. I wish they'd do a dig at the Saratoga Battlefield, or another in Fort Edward, they're just miles from where I live.
  9. Sorry, but sarcasm ain't gonna get you help.
  10. Not trying to butt in, but I think the people here who can help will need some idea of your operating system and system specs to help you. Graphics card, ram, etc.
  11. You doubt yourself too much, my friend. Your skins are always fantastic. You bring all my old, cherished books to life. Your skins always "put you there," if you know what I mean.
  12. A very thought provoking Video

    Thank you for posting. Heck
  13. The Give Up Smoking Revolution Thread

It took me seven tries, some cold turkey, some using aids (not the modern chemical kind), to finally quit. That was more than three decades ago. To this very day, if I'm around people smoking in certain situations, the urge to have one can still return. It's not very strong, but it's still there after all this time. All I can say is that you have to approach it like the twelve step programs teach you. Today, I'm not going to have a cigarette. There's no other way to do it. And forgive yourself if you mess up a day. Just take the next day as a fresh start. Wish I could offer you more, but this is one of the most addictive habits people can have.
  14. Great pit, Stary! I especially like the "We need a better plexiglass company" look to this. The dual layers of these canopies played havoc with visibility, according to what I've read. Feels very authentic. Thank you.
  15. To Anyone who'll Listen

Welcome back. Hope all your misfortunes have turned the corner. We can all identify with going through dark times. Fair winds, and following seas.
  16. Does the remove component data.ini trick work for ground objects like it does with aircraft?
  17. I also remember seeing Hoover's airshow act. He handled that baby like it was a P-38, then the one engine routine, followed up by the deadstick landing. What a pilot. I think the only other airshow pilot I've enjoyed as much was Stanley Segalla, the flying farmer.
  18. It's really too bad we can't use this simple technique on ground objects. I'd love to convert the SNS Dedalo into the CVL Bataan for my Korea mod by removing the pair of AV-8s parked on the deck.. I imagine they could probably be hex edited away somehow, but I've never hex edited anything, and wouldn't have a clue how to do it, so I was hoping I could use this easy technique that we have for aircraft. Oh well, there's always Hinches' Zuiho as a stand in.
  19. Thanks, Wrench. Knew I should ask one of the "Old Hats" before I wasted my time trying. That's why I couldn't find anything on it in the Knowledge Base.
  20. Corporate b*stards

The basic problem with humans these days is they have no honor, and they know no shame.
  21. I Like CombatAce Because....

The great mods, the rowdy crew, it gets my teeth 32% whiter than regular toothpaste by eliminating pottymouth, and it helps fight plaque. People eat something other than Pizza? Strange. Oh. It must be wings...
  22. Thanks for these, Stephan. A great addition!
  23. Gunther Rall passed away

Rest in peace. A brave man and a skilled flyer.
  24. chinese new year

I'm a Water Dragon. Happy New Year!
