What this mod will do: 1 Replace all airfields, friendly or enemy, on the in flight map with black dots. 2 Replace all map waypoint icons with a "pencil" X. 3 Replace the IP waypoint icon with a "pencil" square. 4 Use a red triangle for the target icon. 5 Eliminate the Friendly and Enemy aircraft icons on the in flight map. What this mod will not do: Eliminate the flight path lines between waypoints. I've changed the color of these so that on some sections of terrain they will disappear, or be hard to see, but, according to TK, you're stuck with them, because they can't be removed. Feel free to use the Thirdwire color picker, available at here at CombatAce, to experiment with the color until you find one that works better for you. Please read the enclosed readme for installation instructions. This mod is freeware, and all my own work (what little of it there was) so feel free to modify it to your heart's content and share the results with whomever you like, just don't use it for payware. I hope you enjoy, Heck
  2. Possible map improvements

I'll lash it up in 7zip and you guys can do what you want with it. As far as the airfield thing goes, I'm leaving mine as it is. More than one unfortunate pilot in both World Wars became disoriented and landed at an opposing airfield. I suppose their Archie will give me a clue if I'm inadvertently stopping by for tea. Just uploaded, awaiting admin approval. Hope you enjoy. Feel free to use it as a start to something better. Heck
  3. Possible map improvements

According to TK, you can't get rid of the path lines from one waypoint to another. I slapped this together, if anyone wants it, I'll upload the new .tgas, and changes to the missioncontrol.ini as a mod. The Xs are waypoints, as if drawn in pencil on a map, the square is the initial point, and I left the red triangle for the target. The squadron CO put it in red, so you chaps wouldn't miss it. The dots are airfields, and no aircraft icons, friend or foe, appear. http://combatace.com...19453-img00014/

  5. In the original readme for Wolf's aircraft pack, it said the skin templates would be released as a separate pack. I don't find them anywhere; I was especially interested in obtaining psd templates for the two P-47s and the two P-38s if they're available. Thanks to anyone who can help, Heck
  6. Open the data.ini and scroll down to the section for the slats. You need to reverse the deploy and retract values. This is what I have in mine now. 7. It is gorgeous. A beautiful model of one of the most beautiful aircraft of all time. Thank you for all the hard work you've put into it. Waiting patiently for release.
  8. A beautiful model. Will it be released in both an A and a B scheme? Or are you doing specific skins? If you are, could you release the template so we could make some blank, no marking skins? The reason I ask is I have an old decal scheme that I use for squadron codes, individual aircraft numbers and serial numbers on the old Spit 1 from the A Team, and I'd like to transfer that to your model. If you feel you can't, I understand. It is a fantastic model. Thank you for bringing it to the community.
  9. Just wondering how it's coming. I know it's two weeks. The Korean War is one of my favorite subjects, so I'm highly anticipating this one. I've even resurrected the old mod for a while, to give me my Sabre/Mig fix, until this one appears. Thank you to everyone who's working on it.
  10. They haven't updated any flight models, so you should grab Peter01's, since that's what most people use. They have updated some LODs thanks to Quack, so make sure you have a new download from them. The hanger screens have mismatched elements, so they could use the help of a hanger screen guru (hint, hint). Get all the add on aircraft here, and use Peter's FMs for those. Most were designed for FE1, so again, a hanger screen guru should really give them some TLC. Also, use Sinbad's Strutters for your flyables, they're superb. Last, but certainly not least, grab everything that Quack74 has created, no matter what it is. His work takes many aspects of this sim to new levels.
  11. I use the Aviatik cockpit from the A-Team for the DFW. For the Sopwith Strutters, I was using the Camel, but with the release of Sinbad's excellent French skins I've switched back to using his strutters, leaving TK's as AI. And now for the cringe part. I use the Spad 13 for the RE8, rather than the SE5a. And I use the Spad 13 cockpit for the Salmson 2a and the Spad 7.
  12. Wish Her Luck

Best of luck to your wife, Dave.
  13. Be on it tomorrow. Shouldn't take too long.
  14. FE2 Realistic Sky Mod

I'll be happy to give it a shot.
  15. FE2 Realistic Sky Mod

I'll try it out for you, Panama. Although, I might not be the best one to do it, since I use XP and have a low end system (Pentium4 single core, 2.8Ghz, 2gigs system ram, EGeforce 6200 256megs), so if you want to know if it can be tweaked to run on a chuck wagon rather than a Ferrari, I'm your man.
  16. Not a boardgame, but the rules can be played that way: http://www.eaglesmax.com/ and it's free.
  17. Check this one out...

Thanks for the heads up, Sinbad.
  18. This mod brought me back into WW2, using WOE patched to 08. I'm hoping someone will take you up on your offer of Gabby's autograph, Major Lee. It would be great to see a new Razorback Jug. I'm planning on expanding into new WW2 installs, using the new versions of the aircraft that Capun and the A-Team are posting at their site. I actually like TK's sims the most for WW2, because they have the best balance between the flight modelling and pure fun.
  19. Check this one out...

This is a problem with the cockpit lod. From the out file: Cockpit (215 polys, 645 verts) 'Material #281' Frame (767 polys, 2301 verts) 'ERROR: No material is assigned!' Capun will have to repair it. I'll post it at his site when I get the chance. Does anyone know if you can use the remove trick to remove it for now, until it's fixed?
  20. Performance Question

I can honestly say that the system you chose makes any system I've ever run FE2 on look retarded (computer challenged?), including the old desktop I'm running it on now, so don't beat yourself up over that. Just from basic specs, it looks like a great system. I'm assuming this is Windows 7. Can you ascertain what unnecessary programs or aps might be running in the background and shut them down? That might help, it helps me, but be careful, so you don't shut down anything that your system needs to run. You might also check the Strike Fighters 2 knowledge base for any tips on tweaking graphics settings, those tips will work for FE2 as well. I wish I could help more, but I have an old XP desktop, so I can't give you any worthwhile tips. I would also check to make certain your system came with the latest version of DirectX, sometimes they don't ship with it. I know that no system I've ever purchased shipped with the latest version of that. Hopefully some of the old hands here who have the same operating system can help you, because your basic system stats seem to indicate that you should be able to run the sim quite well.
  21. Yes, but this mod is going into the late fifties, isn't it? That would give him four spinning I/R signatures if I remember my giant flying, fire-breathing radiation mutated turtles correctly. Maybe I'm wrong, though. So many campy Japanese film monsters to keep track of...
  22. Nice work, Quack. But, in some of those screenshots, where do I crash land? I might not be the best fit for this terrain...
