  1. Congratulations, Laton! Best wishes to you and your fiance. Heck
  2. Unsung Aces?

A number of books I've read claim that confirmation was often a sort of "gentleman's agreement," especially for allied pilots, who often lacked the other sources of confirmation, by the army, etc. I've read a number of examples where the pilot who gave his confirmation was later proved to have been unable to see the crash by the testimony of their own flight reports. No matter what the reality, I agree with your feelings that most times it must have been next to impossible for the dogfighting type of pilot to see the results of his own kill. The stalking type, epitomised by McCudden, might have had a little bit easier time, because of the type of work they were doing. Heck
  3. My bad. Sorry. Using a home brewed data.ini and didn't catch the animation id change in the rudder. DOH! Thanks, Panama Red. You made me take a second look.
  4. I'll report this at Capun's forum if I remember my password there, but the rudder with the new LOD that fixes the shadow problem has the rudder permanently canted to the left. Nothing I do in the data.ini fixes it. Real nice skin for it, Quack. Great work.
  5. Just installed and flight tested this. Great mod. Thank you. Heck
  6. FE Troop Columns?

There's better infantry than anything I ever uploaded, Mike. They may not be in column like you want, but for infantry at the front they're the best. http://www.geos-aircraft.com/SFObjects.htm

Thanks for all your hard work, Dave. It works great.
  8. It can also give you that little spine tingle that pilots of the time mentioned when you see it. "Put down your bally nose..."
  9. Completely agree. Just the aspect of being able to mod most anything we like, even flight models, sets First Eagles right at the top for me. This sim is not only fun, but a tremendous learning tool for someone like me, who likes to tinker with things. This is the only WW1 flight sim I've ever owned that I can personalize just for me. With every other sim I've had to accept someone else's interpretation of how things were. Not First Eagles. Definately my favorite, anyway.
  10. File Name: Updated Spad 7 serial decals File Submitter: Heck File Submitted: 9 Jun 2009 File Category: WW1 Aircraft My thanks to Panama Red for pointing out a placement problem with my Spad 7 tail decals. This is the corrected version. See the readme for complete installation instructions. Click here to download this file

  12. Sorry about that. That's what I get for uploading files from the laptop I used to use for flight simming. It's actually an easy fix. Like the Spad 13, the same decal is used on both sides. Just change the decal entries to these: [Decalxxx] <------- Your next number MeshName=Rudder DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=S7180Serial Position=-4.51,0.60 Scale=0.95 DecalMaxLOD=1 [Decalxxx] MeshName=Rudder DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=S7180Serial Position=-4.44,0.60 Scale=0.95 DecalMaxLOD=1 and that should cure the problem. My apologies.
  13. Just uploaded them, awaiting approval. Let me know if you have any problems with them. Heck
  14. File Name: Spad 7 Serial decals File Submitter: Heck File Submitted: 8 Jun 2009 File Category: WW1 Aircraft These are some serial numbers that I created for one of my favorite planes; the Spad 7. Both 150hp and 180hp versions are included. As a bonus, I've included a couple of .png files for creating decals, one for Spads, the other for Belgian Camel serials. A readme with full installation instructions is included. I hope you enjoy. Heck Click here to download this file

  16. I'm not home right now, but I think I made sets for both the Spad7/150 and the 180. I'll check when I get home and upload them if people are interested.
  17. Keeping with the prophead theme. A true Me-109G5/G6, complete with detachable 20mm gun pods. Early Laggs and Yaks. I think the Eastern Front during WW2 is a great idea. Thanks for offering to take this on.
  18. Halberstadt CL.IV

Another beautiful model! And another German two-seater! My thanks to you both. Very much appreciated.
  19. Hannover CL.III

Thanks, Laton! When it comes to the gunner, I would prefer that the gunner and gun move in unison, and use the dummy part trick to remove the gunner's legs so that they don't protrude from the plane. It's very rare that I would be looking down into the rear cockpit anyway, so it doesn't matter to me if the gunner has legs or not, but I do like to see him "aim" his gun. Great model. Thanks, again.
  20. WW1 Downloads

Seems to be a problem with downloads in all sections. Dave mentioned doing some site maintenance over the weekend. It's a huge amount of downloads, so perhaps it's taking longer than expected.
  21. Outstanding work, Laton! Thank you!
  22. Nieuport Tactics

If your data.ini says DamageRating=Destroyed on the various parts of the plane then use the Replace function in notepad to change them all to DamageRating=Disabled This should help to make it more sturdy when it comes to gunfire.
  23. Hi, Quack. Did you download the DH4 again? Capun posted a version with a new UV map, which conforms to First Eagles. It still has some issues, but it's better. Here's a DH-4 data.ini that I slapped together. I'm no flight model guru, but it flies. Give it a try if you like. Love to see you do some skins for this, mine are drawn with crayons. DH_4_Data.zip Ps: Three other engine types should be created, because they were much more common than this Eagle VIII version. 200hp Raf3a, 200hp Puma, and a 250hp Eagle. These were much more common than the Eagle VIII, especially when the aircraft appeared in 1917.
  24. I too think my Mercedes burns a little too much oil with TK's original. I'll give this a try.
  25. Keep up your work, Quack. It would be a shame to see you stop. Especially because you're so into it. Keep going. There's all those Belgian Nieuports, Camels, and Spads too. You have a wide range aircraft and nations to chose from. This is one addiction we don't want you to enter a 12 step program for.
