  1. anybody still working on stuff?

p10ppy beat me to it. You know, p10ppy, your discovery has been one of the greatest finds out there. You can mod so many aircraft into other types now with just data.ini edits. A little OT, but I've even created an Me109e-1 with no wing cannons thanks to you. Much appreciated. Heck

As far as a four blade prop, I don't think so. It's part of the 3d model, I believe and couldn't be changed. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. When it comes to the headrest, it depends on two things: 1. Is it a separate part listed in the lod (open in notepad, or a hex editor to check). 2. Will it leave a big hole in the airframe if you remove it using p10ppy's part removal trick, like removing the gun mount does to the Bristol F2b. If #1 is true, but #2 is false, then you can remove it. If I get the chance today, I'll check this out for you. Heck

Yes, but does the game engine take angled armor into account? If not, you'd have to increase your armor value by a certain amount to compensate (60 degree slope= 2x). If the game does account for it, then what you may be seeing in strafing attacks is the fact that the rounds are striking close to the vertical on the plate, which negates the angle advantage it would have if struck from ground level. Just wondering... Heck
  4. This is a silly mistake I usually make, that's the reason I mention it, but what decal level have you set for them? I've made some individual aircraft numbers and placed them by copying and pasting another decal call out, then forgot to change the decal level to 2. It's the only thing I can think of.

This skin uses a different overpainting technique. The standard 71/02/65 scheme has been hastily overpainted on the sides in RLM 71 using a paintbrush. Two bitmaps are included in this skin; one with overpainting, the other a standard 71/02/65. You could use this standard paint scheme for any of your Me-109e skins, just rename 109ETexA.BMP by removing the A after renaming your original bitmap. Also enclosed is a complete readme. My thanks go out to Russo, Wrench, and Gocad for the use of their files, and their help and ideas. Any questions or problems, pm me. Hope you enjoy, Heck Click here to download this file

  9. With Russo's permission, these use his panel lines, rivets, weathering, etc., because I don't yet have the skills to do those. I painted the camo, and created the decals and decal system. This is what I've finished so far, just checking the details and working on two more skins, then I'll post them. 2/JG26 1/JG51 1/JG52 6/JG52 8/JG2 9/JG54
  10. File Name: JG2 and JG3 decal update File Submitter: Heck File Submitted: 4 Oct 2008 File Category: Axis/BF-109/ME-109/Ju-87 These files update the decals for my Me109e skins. I inadvertantly uploaded files with miskeyed decal levels for the kill markings that would prevent them from showing. I also uploaded an old version of the JG3 decal folder that lacked the kill marking decals. My apologies. Just unzip these to a temporary directory and copy and paste the enclosed decal.ini and D folder into the proper skins folders. These have been tested and do work. Learning the hard way.... 12. File Name: ME109E 8 JG2 File Submitter: Heck File Submitted: 3 Oct 2008 File Category: Axis/BF-109/ME-109/Ju-87 Second skin in a series for Russo's Me109e. This skin represents 8/JG2 during the summer of 1940 and uses the speckling technique of overpainting common to aircraft of this Geshwader. The base scheme is a standard RLM 71/02 upper surface with lower surfaces in RLM 65. Nose and tail overpainted in RLM 04. All colors in this series are based on the standard values found at SimmersPaintShop, but are interpreted by me as far as fading goes, so they will appear different from other skins, or profiles, you might have seen. Also, my aircraft numbers appear in a more random order, because this is how I feel aircraft were flown in the field. All skins in this series borrow heavily from Russouk2004's .psd. I am indebted to him, and to Wrench, for their help. A full readme file is enclosed. If you want to mod this, feel free, I believe in the Freeware agreement I signed on to, just give credit where credit is due. Hope you like it. Heck Click here to download this file

  14. I just downloaded Capun and the A-Team's Spanish Civil War campaign and noticed something looking through the Me109E-1's data.ini. The 109e-3 and 3b in the BOB campaign are about 1000 kilos overweight in their empty weight. Looking into various online and offline sources, I confirmed that the true empty weight of all these early 109's should be about 1900 kilos, not 2919. It makes a world of difference to the handling of these aircraft, and you'll discover why many 109 pilots felt no Spit or Hurri outturned them during the Battle of Britain. I know the E-3 was heavier than the E-1 because of the cannons and ammo, but it wasn't 1000 kilos heavier. If you can get hold of this download, you might also want to add the E-1 to your list of aircraft, because a number of sources I've seen state that a number of E-1's were still flying during the Battle of Britain. And if you use p10ppy's little data.ini trick he presented in this thread, http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=31385 , you'll be able to eliminate the wing cannons from the model to make it look like an E-1. Thanks for the Campaign, Baltika. It's a great one. Heck Opps. Forgot to mention. Reduce your power to SLPowerDry=876197.4, or she'll climb like a jet.

This skin represents 2/JG3 during the late Battle of Britain period. The scheme is the later RLM 74/75 Gray upper surfaces with RLM 65 lower surfaces. The nose and tail have been overpainted in RLM 04 yellow for ease of recognition. Lots of information is presented in the readme, please read it. This skin, and all from this series I'm going to present, makes extensive use of Russouk2004's .psd file. All the detail work; panel lines, rivets, weathering, etc., is Russo's. I am indebted to him for allowing me to use these parts of his file without restriction. I painted the underlying camouflage and created the decals, which include numbers for 16 aircraft and kill markings up to thirty kills. Hopefully, someday, I will possess one third of Russo's skill at creating detail work, until then, I'm grateful he's allowed me to use his, so I can at least get a start in skinning. I hope you enjoy this, and the others to come.... Heck
  16. Just don't break the arm you paint with.
  17. I would love to have them. This is to both you and Gocad, Wrench. You guys are the best! Heck
  18. I would love it, Gocad. Thank you! Heck
  19. Thanks, Johnrey. These, plus two others, should be up by Friday. With eight or so, I'm going to move away from the Battle of Britain for a while (you could spend a lifetime showing the variations used ), and try my hand at creating my own template for Wolf257's Me109F, so I can gain experience painting the details on aircraft, and weathering them. I'm expanding my BOB installation into 1941-42, so I can fly the Fritz and the Butcher Bird. From time to time I may add another 109E, since I now have usable templates for yellow noses, white noses, etc., because I'd eventually like an example skin from each Gruppe of each Geshwader involved in the battle. Heck
  20. Sorry, Gocad. I should have looked much more closely at your BOB skin package. All that needs to be added to that is the Squadron letter codes. Doh!!!! I think the same thing should be done for the Hurricane, it's a great system for both these aircraft. Heck
  21. Exacatacally, what I was thinking, so I see it can be done. I was considering mating the aircraft serial number to the letter code of the aircraft, the same way you combined the Squadron letter codes with the roundel. Wonder if it would all play nice together.... Heck
  22. I'll do some investigating and see if I can find a way to make them work for this group of skins. The knowledge has to be in the Knowledge Base. Heck
  23. Just something I wanted to try, just to see if I can make it work. I already have every Spit and Hurri skin posted here. I'm terribly lazy when I'm flying in the sim, so I like to be able to choose squadrons when I fly a single mission, and have them in the correct scheme, sort of like a default scheme. Also, I have some questions for you. Do you know what time period the black/white underwings were used? And were they used on all aircraft of a squadron? And when did they stop using them? Just curious, this new world of skinning has opened up all sorts of questions for me. I like tinkering with things, just to see what I can do, and learn something from it that might be useful later. Sorry about the blizzard of questions, but I feel like a kid in a candy shop again. Heck
