One thing I like best about this sim is, you can delve into the Knowledge Base here and learn to do all sorts of things, like add to the stock schemes. A pair of early Pukin Dogs.

  9. My best kill ratio is about 25-33% with Snakes, usually it's around the historical 15%. I generally get my best shots a little below the target, where the seeker can see blue sky all around it, so I'll oft times head for the weeds in pursuit, and use a Russian style uppercut technique, especially in the Crusader. Last night, flying the new Mirage Factory F-8E, I fired three Sidewinders at a 17 from beneath his tail with a good loud tone on each missile, no manuvering from him because he didn't know I was there, and only the last one got Mig parts, while the Mig driver was apparently wondering where those two smoke trails were coming from. Then again, I've had a number of missions where I've been so target fixed that I didn't notice the smoke trail of the Atoll that should have killed me until I flew through it, so I guess the AI's behavior in this case probably wasn't that inaccurate! 10. I've died and gone to WOV heaven, haven't I? Three superb models, with a fourth (the J) on the way, and Corktip and USAFMTL doing every skin flown in Nam between them. Thanks to all involved. It really doesn't get better than this... Heck
  11. I just downloaded and flew both the D and E on my relatively low end machine. Outstanding!!!!! Beautiful models and run smooth as glass! Great work. Hope you release templates, because these beauties need lots of new skins. Thank you, Mirage Factory. Having seen these, I can hardly wait for the new A-7's! Heck
  12. Damn! I had forgotten all about the fm tool. Great tool. The version I have doesn't look like the one you posted? My download is v0.3. Is that the latest version? Or is there one newer? It's a tremendous contribution, because it makes data.ini comparison much easier. A must have. Heck
  13. The tack I would take would be to incrementally lower the CD0 (profile drag) of each part of the airplane until I arrived values that adjusted the speed to what I felt was correct. Whenever you change the drag however, you'll change other aspects of performance like climb rate, etc., so you need to be careful. It's all interconnected, so any change you make will affect the whole, so you'll have to flight test your result in different flight attitudes, to find the right balance. Hope this helps, Heck
  14. Movie Lines that make great signatures...

You're a daisy if you do... I'm your huckleberry... Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday is one of my favorites. Especially the wink that started the gunfight at the Okay Corral with Kurt Russell's voiceover in the background, "Oh, no. Oh, no."
  15. blip switch on Fokker Dr1?

As far as I know from the reading I've done, all rotaries should have them. I do know for a fact that both LeRhone and Clerget engines had them, because I've seen aircraft with them flown at Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in NY. When flying you could hear the distinct sound of them being used as the engine would shut off, and then come back on, shut off, and then come back on. The Gnome was different in that it had also had a selector switch that would allow the pilot to select 3, 6, or all nine cylinders, as you've probably read in the article. It was dangerous to use it in this manner however, or hold a blip switch down too long, because the fuel and air mixture still travelled through the unused cylinders and out the exhaust, accumulating inside the engine cowling, which could be ignited when you cut the ignition back in. This happened to Harold Hartney from what I've read. Heck
  16. Can you tell us what songs are in it? I've already downloaded period songs from the internet and use those in my version of First Eagles, but I'd certainly take a look at what you have. Heck
  17. hanriot hd.1

Beautiful work, guys. Thanks to all who brought it about. Great addition. Heck
  18. hanriot hd.1

Excellent! Can't wait for this superb addition. Thank you, EmlD
  19. For my WWI Friends

Great shots. Thanks for sharing them.
  20. Christmas presents

I think Neverenough and Skelator56 have hit it right on the head. She doesn't want a "thing" for Christmas. No matter what thing you get her, it won't be the right thing, because it isn't a thing that she wants. She wants you to use your imagination, and how well you know her, to express how much you love her. As you've said, in past years you've had it easy, she's always told you what she wants. Now, she wants it to be hard, that why your surprise was no surprise. She doesn't want this to be easy. There are words behind her words. She wants you to win her all over again. To show her that to you she's still that girl you wanted more than any other. Find that girl, and you'll find your gift. Good luck. You can do it. I have never found this to be an escape proof trap... Heck

    What a beauty! Nice work!
  22. One of my favorite planes

    From the album Heck's WOV

  23. hanriot hd.1

You do such absolutely beautiful work. This is well worth the wait. Personally, I love the cockpit screenshot. It has a good claustrophobic feel to it. Just get very close. Then a gunsight doesn't really matter much.
  24. Tried a pm, no answer. Trying to get permission to upload a couple of skins based on his Gray Pfalz scheme. Heck Duh. Read your pm's before you post, Heck. Thanks, Sfabert!
