  1. Glad to help. That one had me stumped for days before some pointers from other members helped me figure out why Pasko's Stuka wouldn't carry bombs. This is what these forums are for.
  2. Follow this link to find WW2 ground objects for use in Korea. They include new ini's for the new style ground objects folders. http://www.geos-aircraft.com/SFObjects.htm Don't forget to download the infantry that's out there. You can then mod them into passible US Army, US Marines, ChiCom, and North Korean infantry for use in Korean War CAS missions. Just tried it, jtin. The link worked just fine for me. All the way to the Korea terrain download, so I think you're okay with the link you provided.
  3. Eightlein has already given you the best advice of all. Just read, read, read. The knowledge base, especially the SF editing notes, which explain much about the file structure. Learn the file structure using the extractor to open things up so you can look at them. When you're searching the forums, just remember that the first way you phrase your search terms may not be the best way, so don't give up, just change the terms and ask again. This has happened to me a million times, and not just here. Also, do the same search on all the forums. Sometimes that yields results in odd places, because you can't predict where someone with a question might ask it. Almost everything you need to know is out there already. With a good search technique and a little time, you can find it. Lots of stuff here, almost all for free. Enjoy.
  4. Go into the data ini's for the enemy aircraft and make certain the weapons pylon types match the nationality of the aircraft you're using. Sometimes, the generic "wp" doesn't work any more. Switch the pylon type to one from the nationality of the aircraft. That worked for me.
  5. Just had a nice furball over the channel in 1942 against some Spit V's in my new Fritz. Love it! Great work, as is the P-51A. Love the new cockpit, installing it into my 109e as well, it looks so good. It should be easy to mod it into a G-2, giving even more coverage of the mid war Me109's. Thanks.
  6. I don't know if it's out there, Thomas. I've looked through my stored files, but deleted all the old whenever the new came out. Can you post exactly what your error message is? I may be wrong (read 60% of the time), but I think each new weapons pack adds on to the last, so I'm not sure the version is your problem. Perhaps someone with more computer knowledge can figure it out if they see your error message. I know from my experience that a .dll error using refers to a missing file, or a file that's misnamed. Also, do a search for missile.dll errors on this board and the mods board and you might find more information. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
  7. You're a better flyer than I am, because I couldn't even get the original A-7a off the runway with any bomb load that I've seen them carrying in photos. And don't forget to download the A-7b, d, and e from here, Armor Dave's site, or Column5.US. If you don't have the A-7a data ini in the individual a/c folder, then you'll have to extract it using the SFP-1 cat extractor. It will extract it to the objects folder, you'll have to drag it to the individual a/c folder, once extracted. The data ini's for the b,d, and e will already be in the individual a/c folders. Open them with notepad, then scroll down to the line in the engine section called SL Thrust dry. Replace them with these: A-7a SLThrustDry=50487.07 A-7b SLThrustDry=54268.04 A-7d& e SLThrustDry=63386.85 Now, you'll have an A-7a that's underpowered compared to other US planes, and it's A-7e version, but is still a heavy hauler. I think the original just went too far trying to give you the impression of being underpowered, and reduced the thrust below actual levels. I notice the difference when I switch from an A model into the E, which is the way I think it should be. Back up your original data ini on the A-7b,d, and e if you have it, because it's not in the cat file. If you don't like the A-7a, just delete this new data ini and the game will revert to the one in the cat file. Hope this helps.
  8. Thank you, USAFMTL. For all that you've done. All of us who've benefitted from your mods, and your knowledge, salute you. Think of it this way: you've just collected your 100 mission hat, you're on your way back to the world, and you are definately Sierra Hotel.
  9. If you're really into the carrier experience, and you haven't already found it, don't forget to get the carrier chatter download in the SF Sounds section of the downloads. Great stuff. And if you haven't done it already, bump up the power on the A-7's to what it actually was. Makes them more fun to fly. If you don't know how to do it, pm me and I'll explain what to do. I don't know if you've gotten into ini modding, or not. Enjoy. It's a great sim that's constantly modified by a lot of great people, and there's lots of help available, both from people answering questions, and from the Knowledge section of the forums.
  10. All the files; LOD, BMP, INI, etc, can simply go into a folder named the same as the .ini file of the object, ex: PZKW-IVg for a Panzer IVg. You don't need a sub folder for textures, unless you have more than one texture, such as a winter scheme for your Panzer IV. Just make sure this main folder you create has all the necessary bitmaps specified by the LOD file. For example, US soldiers uses US Soldier.bmp, Squad destroyed.bmp, and weapons.bmp. If you don't have all three, it won't work. Here's the folder and file structure for the aforementioned PZ-IVG: Main folder: PZKW IVG Inside it, the following files: PZKW IVG.ini PZKW IVG_data.ini PZKW IVG.LOD PZKW IVG.bmp PZKW IVGTrack.bmp It works just fine with no texture sub folder. Hope this helps.
  11. I knew it! I love this sim, and all the great stuff TJ and company modelled into it! Of all the sims I've owned (read tons), I love this sim most of all. And not just for all the mods, but basically because what happens to me in the sim just feels right if you know what I mean. I read Gene Basel's "Pack Six" while doing some research for a project and this sim leaves me with the same feeling I got reading Gene's book, although I don't down as many scotches as Gene used to, because I'm not really going to die. Still, it captures the essense of the experience better than anything else I've owned. Oh, and a short ps to F4 Phantom II, the starter of this thread. You haven't really gone downtown until you've done it in a Scooter. So, cast off thy Sparrows, and Sidewinders, and thy fancy radar, and mount a simple steed armed only with your RWR and Mark 1 eyeball, but if you do doubt your courage.....
  12. I may be a loon, but I always wait for the Sam Inbound call before I start thinking about evasive action. And watch out when you get down too far into the weeds on your way out. I was belting out of Hanoi one mission at 250' dodging multiple Sam launches with the 105 in full burner, when I suddenly realized I was flying down the corridor between Hanoi and Haiphong. Not a particularly good idea. I had just got off the map and was about to pull up and turn south again when tracers came past the nose and voila: no engine. According to the log after I ejected, a ZSU tagged me, but I could swear I was in the middle of nowhere. So, don't feel safe anywhere. Turn and burn, twist and dodge, pray that the wingies make it out with you. Essentially, the way it really was. I doubt it's modelled into the sim, but I do know from research that the Vietnamese used to issue small arms to the collective farms and call them part of the People's Air Defence. When the Ox bells rang, they came out shooting at any Air Pirate overhead. Then again, I think the sim is dangerous enough without them. Maybe that ZSU was in a rest area on the Hanoi-Haiphong highway, taking a coffee break when I flew over them.
  13. Look in their cockpit ini. Sometimes it aliases a cockpit of an aircraft you don't have installed. Two choices if it does: alias another aircraft's cockpit, or install the aircraft it's looking for. Also, if you had to make a folder for the aircraft make sure that folder is named exactly what the aircraft calls itself in the aircraft ini, ie: P-51d is named P-51d, and not P51d. Check the data ini to make certain the dates of usage conform to the dates of availability in your game. If these don't help, consult the section here called knowledge base for more info...
  14. From search mode hit the PgUp key to go to boresite mode. Hit insert to lock. Pray for the best. Of the missile kills that I have, 80% are Sidewinder kills and 20% are Sparrow kills, and the AI pilots on those Sparrow kills were Egyptian and NTB, because they just sat there, and their wingies never warned them that a Sparrow was coming up their butt, ie: they weren't manuvering at all. Every Sparrow shot I've taken on a manuvering target has been a miss so far.
  15. You're not stupid. One keystroke off in a file or folder name and Voila. Nothing works. Glad it was something this simple.
  16. Can't say what's happening from your message. Do you mean it won't appear in a single missions list, which means you can't fly it at all, or it doesn't appear in a campaign. I've never had any problems with the A-26 as downloaded. In fact, the only time I've ever had problems with a plane not appearing in single missions is because its cockpit ini pointed to a cockpit that I didn't have in that particular version of the sim, such as the ME-109e defaulting to the P-51 cockpit (apologies in advance if the example is wrong), or because its data ini time frame (start service date, end service date) were not within the time frame of the sim. Hope this helps, but if you could clarify what the problem is, it will help to track it down.
  17. You'll find all the planes you're looking for right here in the Cold War section of the downloads, with the exception of the Il-10. An Il-2 is being worked on now. None of the books I have, or the net resources I've found, mention the Vampire being used in Korea. My research hasn't been exhaustive, but none of the major sources I've found mention the use of Vampires, just Meteors. Don't forget to add the British Firefly and Sea Fury, which, I think, are in the WW2 section of the downloads. Also, check out the latest Mig17 data ini, which adds Mach lock to the airplane, as you can add it to your F-86e to create the F-86a, and to the Mig15, as well as the straight wings, like the F-84. It works quite nicely and changes the complexion of the sim quite a bit.
  18. What a beautiful skin. That's a must have. Can't wait for Edward's North Africa. I have his Korea, and all his Pacific terrains. A mock F, and early G, will certainly do the trick, since we have Spit 5's, Hurri 2's, etc. With the modders hard at work, and TK constantly updating, this sim takes up more and more of my hard drive, but I don't care. If this one runs out of space after Russia and N. Africa, I'll just buy an external.
  19. Fantastic! I've been busily downloading all the WW2 stuff I can find. Now, Russia? One quick question though, and not trying to be a pain, but is anyone working on any more 109's ? With two additions, the F-4, and the G-5/6, the important parts of the line would be covered. I could make an F from the G-10 for my personal use, but it would be nice to have both these with correct cockpit exteriors, etc. Just curious.
  20. Very nice! Hopefully you're not just teasing us WW2 flyers. The Sturmovik is a beautiful addition to all the Yaks and Lavochkins out there now. Soon? She's a real beauty. Ah, the Russian front. Never get over 6000 feet and outnumbered 30 to 1. Gonna have to figure out how to paint a tulip on the spinner of the 109G-10.
  21. Just wanted to say thanks for fighting to bring back my favorite website. Hopefully the hackers will leave it alone now. You've been stressed to the max, so I hope you can take a little decompress time now. Unlax, as Chick Childerhouse used to say. When it comes to the mods not working (I read your post at SimHQ), I think it's up to us, the mod users, to figure out how to make a lot of this stuff work, then post what we discover for each other. We've gotten a bucketload of free stuff here. Personally, I have six versions of this basic sim on my HD. And what did I pay for these six flight sims? SFP1 Valuesoft $9.99. WOV $19.99. WOE $29.99. Sixty bucks for six versions; $10 a version. That's alot of stuff. And a lot of what I have I tweaked myself to suit my personal taste according to what I've read. We all need to study the structure, and learn what we have to do to make these wonderful toys work for ourselves and each other. Take a little time off. Head for the squadron bar and have one on me. Thanks again. Heck I edited your title as I do not people to think I did anything when it was Erik and Fates who did all the work.
  22. Are you using Directx 9.0c? The new versions of the game require it. Your system is actually much better than the one I use and I have no problems with the new patches, or the weapons pack. If you don't have the "C" version of DX9, that might be causing a problem. I'm not familiar with G-Force cards and don't know if the card's drivers might be the problem, so I'd update those too. Hope this helps.
  23. Then a tip of the wing to both Eric, and Fates, also. Thanks to all!
  24. I've downloaded the Me-109E and G. Just wondering if anyone knows of a Fritz, either completed, or under construction. Thanks!
  25. I've also read of drop tank shortages in both Korea, and Viet Nam, so, as Killerbee said, you only pickled them if it was absolutely necessary. Some wings in Korea had to reduce sortie rates at times due to the shortage of drop tanks.
