  1. For some reason the AN-64 and AN-65 bombs lod specifies the m38_jeep.bmp as a skin. When the skin got moved in the new file set up, the bombs lost their skin. If you copy and paste the jeep bitmap to the weapons folder, the bombs get their skins back. Of course, you could probably copy, rename, and then repaste one of the other bomb bitmaps, using the name m38_jeep.bmp in your weapons folder and get a better skin, but I kind of like the "left laying around since WW2" look the jeep bitmap gives it. Hope this helps.
  2. The new patch runs as smooth as glass on my middle of the road system, and it's a flipping laptop to boot. Even with heavy air traffic, heavy AAA, and broken clouds, it runs like there's no change (that includes all graphics functions set to max, except shadows). How'd Third Wire do this? I've had other flight sims on this system (they shall remain nameless) that stuttered like an acne laden kid on his first date with a girl. Unbelieveable. Haven't tried any mods yet, just wanted to see if it would even run on this system, but now it's weapons pack time, and hopefully my much modded version of the Korea War mod will work. Can't wait to go chasing Mig 15's through the clouds in my 86A when the controls lock up at high mach. And spinning down through clouds in my Mig 15 should be even better. Ps. If anyone is having a problem with the patch not finding the .exe, just use the browse function of the patch installation routine to point the patch at the strike fighters folder and you should have no problems. Make sure you've updated your video drivers, and downloaded the April 06 version of DX 9C as pointed out here. Hope the rest of you can get this working as well as it works on mine. Bravo, TK and company. Bravo!
  3. Hi, Wood. What's the exact error message you're getting? Particlesystem.dll is located in your strike fighters folder. Does the error message say you're missing the file completely, or does it say something else? If you can give the moderators a specific error message, I think they can help you.
  4. I was in such a hurry to upload them, that I forgot to bring the pictures of the E&F. So, all I had to upload was the A model. Proper skins are in each .rar as well as a readme with full accrediation of the original authors. As promised, Edward, here they are.
  5. Thanks again, Ikon. Just uploaded new decal ini's for all planes and schemes. My apologies to all for being so new at this. Would have posted them earlier, but haven't been able to sign in until now.
  6. Version

    233 downloads

These update the decal ini's of my F86A, E, and F1. My apologies to all who downloaded for the screw up.
  7. Thanks for the feedback. I'll work on it. As you can see, I'm new to modding, so it will take time to work all the bugs out. I've had some problems signing into CombatAce since the move to the new server, but I'll get fixes done as soon as I can.
  8. I've used the Korea Campaign with WOV. The only reason that I switched to SFP1 (Valuesoft version from Circuit City, patched to latest version, and only $4.95) to run it is because SFP1 has a greater number of mission types built into it that you don't get with WOV, such as Fighter Sweep, etc. The campaign does work without problems. At least I encountered none, but I didn't get that far into a campaign before I purchased and switched to SFP. Don't forget to download and install the Red Falcons add on for the Campaign which allows you to fly the Samoljot-Soldat for the Communists.
  9. Look at all those beautiful machine guns. I don't care where I have to go to get the skins. Too good to pass up. Napalm, rockets, 14 machine guns; what nutty night jock could ask for more? Love that black scheme, although, one book I have says they flew natural metal at night also. That and OD. Can't wait.
  10. Yes, Capun! Thank you! Heading for your site right now to see if it's there. No more altered ini A-20. Beautiful! Like all your work. Can't believe all the schemes! Cooooooooooooooooool!
  11. It's Karst! It's Karst! At least that's what it looks like to me. Beautiful!
  12. Seems to depend a lot on the individual plane, Caesar. The stock aircraft were modelled very benign, if I remember other threads correctly. This was a purposeful choice on the designer's part. Mod aircraft seem to behave very differently from each other, depending upon how "ruthless" about the flight model the builder wanted to be. I've had Zur's F-86's depart on me in turns, trying to follow Mig 15's in sustained turns at low speeds (read 100 knots, or lower), but have never had problems with recovery once I learned to yank the throttle back to idle, then pour it back on as I pushed the stick forward. Then again, I've never had a Mig 15 depart on me. When it comes to WOV and SF aircraft, I don't recall ever having any departures in turns, so I must be the greatest flyer in the world, or it's not in those aircraft ini's to depart. I don't know what part of the data ini controls it, but I'm sure some part does, because some do it, some don't.
  13. Elsewhere on the net I've seen a 3d model for this aircraft being worked on back in 2005, but I can't find a finished aircraft anywhere. Does anyone know if this was ever completed? And where I can find it, if it was?
  14. Thanks, USAFMTL. It was the 3d model for Wolf257's that I saw, and it's a beauty. Doing night armed reconaissance in my "facsimile" model has become one of my favorite missions in Korean War SF. Four of these can certainly light up the night on a "road wreckie (sp?)" mission. Thanks for checking.
  15. Thanks. Right now I'm using a modded ini A-20 Havoc to represent it in Korea missions, but it's in no way accurate, and I'm not good enough with aerodynamics to make it accurate, so I guess it's just a question of waiting patiently for the guys who can do this sort of stuff to build an accurate one. Knowing how long it took me to just position rockets correctly by modding the ini files makes me appreciate all the more the time and effort the modders here have to put in; and how much work I'm getting for free.
  16. In the Korean War mod, the F9F-5 Panther fires its rockets in this sequence: left wing, right wing, left wing, right wing. The F-80-c fires all the left wing rockets first, then all the right wing, setting up heavy asymetrical loads as they're fired, unlike the Panther. I've modified both the loadout.ini, and the data.ini of the F-80 to mimick that of the F9f, ie: left wing station1, right wing station1, etc., rather than left wing station 1, left wing station 2, etc., but the F-80 still stubbornly fires all left wing first, then all right wing. Is there something I'm missing? I want the rockets on the F-80 to fire in left wing, then right wing sequence like the F9f, as well as the rockets I've added to my F-84g, but nothing I've done seems to work. I can't see anything in the ini files that would control this, except the sequence in which they're listed, which I've already changed. Can anyone help?
  17. Thanks, Capun. Reading your reply, I figured out what I did wrong. Doh moment. Now, to modify that ini...
  18. Just copy the files, not the folders. The only new folders in your Korea copy that you should have are the new terrain folder and the new aircraft folders F86, F2H2, etc within your aircraft folder. If you get confused, just look at your original game's install to see whether subfolders or just files are within a main folder. Then, it should be clear what you have to copy in. I still suggest that you move the Korea copy to your desktop if you still have problems with the shortcut looking for Strike Fighters, rather than Korea. Move it out of the Strategy First folder, you'll have no problems with the shortcut then.
  19. I've never needed to modify any ini files to use it. All I had to do was do a separate install, delete stock aircraft, install the files, including the Korea terrain found at: http://www.majorleesaerodrome.net/ Oh, just thought of something. Did you use the .cat extractor to extract the Desert.cat file? If not, you need to copy that into your new Korea terrain file, then rename it Korea.cat If it's not that, you might try reinstalling the mod. Perhaps some files were corrupted. CTD's usually mean the program can't find a file it's looking for. Hope this helps. It's a good mod when you can get it to work.
  20. Try this, Jack. Instead of copying your new version into the main folder, create a new folder called Korea somewhere else on your Main Drive, C:Korea, or whatever your main drive is lettered, then copy the Strike Fighters Project 1 folder only into it. Open the SF1 folder and create a shortcut to it and rename it Korea. I think your problem is both copies being in the main Strategy First folder. By moving your new copy of just the Strike Fighters Project 1 folder into a completely new directory, I think you'll solve your problem. Hope it works for you; it works this way for me.
  21. It Will Be Missed

Beautiful tribute to a beautiful plane...
  22. Nope. You'll just copy these terrain tiles into the folder for Yom Kippur and let them overwrite. Like I said, you may still encounter problems, like improper airbase orientation, etc.
  23. Can't say for certain that it will work. Both readme's say that the mods were designed for SFP, but, like I said, Korea works with the SEA.cat, so it might work. When it comes to a good terrain folder for it, you might try this link: http://www.sfmods.com/terrain.html Here you'll find Dueces' excellent desert terrain, which is based on the SFP tiles, if I'm not mistaken. You might try putting that into the terrain folder for Yom Kippur, then copy in your extracted SEA.cat and rename it Yom Kippur. One problem that I've encountered in the past using SEA.cat is that the airfields seem to be oriented wrong for the Mid East, ie: they point in the wrong direction, which can lead to some odd problems, like blowing up if you try a runway take off, and your wingmen landing across the runways, at least for the old Yom Kippur campaign download. You may run into the same problem using the SEA.cat for this new campaign as well. The two terrain cats are different, so if your cat works with one mod, it might not work with another. The terrain files themselves are just tiles and you can replace them with others, but the cat files contain all of the elements like airfields, so the different .cat files can cause problems. Wish you could latch onto a copy of Strike Fighters Gold from GMX Media, or The Valuesoft version, because it's easier to mod if you have both SEA.cat and DESERT.cat. If you're willing to experiment, you might give it a try.
  24. Download the cat extractor by following this link: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?download=343 Once you have it installed, have it look in the main terrain folder of the new installation of WOV that you've made. There's only one .cat there, it's called SEA.cat. Extract it. It will now appear in your main terrain folder. Copy and paste it into the folder that contains the new terrain that you've downloaded, which should be a folder inside your main terrain folder called Korea. Once the SEA.cat is in the Korea folder, right click on it and select rename from the menu options. Rename it to the name of the folder, ie: Korea.cat, and that should allow you to use the Korea terrain without problems. It certainly worked for me. Hope this helps.
  25. Don't know if your ctd is being caused by an improper terrain .cat, or not. I'm using Yom Kippur, but on SFP rather than WOV. Too bad you can't order SFP online from Circuit City. They had options to send it to a store for pickup, or deliver it to your home address. If this isn't an option for you, email me at heckmitchell@yahoo.com and I'll check and see if I can find it locally, then mail it to you at your home address. Can't promise I'll be able to find it, but I'll certainly check for it. You won't be able to find the terrain .cat alone, because it's a copyrighted file. You may be able to get Yom Kippur to work using a renamed SEA.cat, but I haven't tried it in WOV, so I can't say for certain it will work, although every other campaign I've tried works with it. One question comes to mind. Where do you ctd? When you select an aircraft, or in the loadout screen?
