  1. Great, now I gotta protect my crotch around here even... FC
  2. whats this?

satish, You really don't know the average fighter pilot...from your forces or ours. See, having flown with and instructed IAF (including a Su-30MKI pilot), USN, and USAF pilots, let me tell you a few things: 1) Fighter pilots are some of the most self critical guys I know. Don't let the swagger fool you. They take all threats VERY seriously, and will promptly hand you your ass in the debrief if you aren't on your "A" game during the fight. Combat aircraft pilots don't treat this as a flying club...but as deadly serious business. They spend HOURS in the vault, studying threats, tactics, strategies...they'll make up crap that's never been tried to win. Denial? Hardly. 2) Why do you insist on selling your pilots short? Having flown with "Bops" and "Sandy", 2 IAF pilots currently on separate T-38 exchange tours (yes, they are instructing pilots in the USAF on how to fly the T-38), I can tell you that both were professional. Were they godlike? No. Did they suck? No. Pretty much middle of the road...with maybe a slight handicap learning how we do things in the USAF. I wouldn't have expected any different from your Su-30MKI deployed unit. 3) The best professional aviators always train harder than they expect to fight. The idea is that if training is so hard, actual combat will be like clubbing baby seals. So, yes, you won't get to use all your toys during training...the idea is to make it harder on yourself. 4) Finally, one last thing as far as intel goes. There are several civilian and US government owned Su-27s and MiG-29s. Heck, we get to play against them on a semi regular basis. Even have a couple of MiG-29s in the USAF Muesum. Now, I'll be the first to admit I could be wrong...I've just never heard of such a thing as a F-15, F-16, F-18, F-22 or F-35 in a Russian or Chinese museum. FC

Done. Rest In Peace Mr. Todd. FC
  4. U-2 Flight

Awesome stuff! Sometimes it really does take a non-aviator to convey that feeling...pilot types tend to be too technical... FC
  5. Anyone use an HD TV as a monitor?

Also, certain HDTVs come with a VGA input already (Samsungs). Like other's have said, an HDTV to do actual computer work in isn't that great. However, as a game/sim/video playing monitor, it works awesome. FC
  6. People need to understand the difference between KIAS/KCAS and KTAS/GS and how they relate to Mach. FC
  7. Be careful asking for engine sounds. I find that: A) Most commerical microphones don't have the range to record the sound well (lots of scratches). B) The same engine can sound very different depending on which aircraft it is installed in. An example was someone was asking to release a version of my T-38 with the J85 sound from a Canadian Tutor. VERY different engine sounds...mainly due to the different intake designs. FC
  8. One thing that might simplify your life as far as effects go is make as many weapons as possible use the stock effects (exhaust, explosion, etc). That way, it's optimized for lower end systems and folks can add effects packs that won't conflict with the weapons pack. Obviously, this may not be an option for those weapons that are specialized (nukes). I've been tending with my aircraft releases to gear them as much as possible to a dead stock install. That way, the baseline is always the same, everyone can use the release and tweak it up as necessary. Something to consider. FC
  9. KB, I echo TurtleHawk's comments. Keep it simple for the end user. Include all the effects needed. Maybe make period specific weapon packs (WWII vs post WWII). Also, I would make inert weapons optional. I wouldn't use an installer, but keep it drag and drop...makes for more control by the end user, while still keeping it simple. The big problem I could see are folks with merged vs non-merged installs. I'd first find out what's different weapon wise between each of the SF2 version sims (back in the Gen 1 sims, WOI had different weapons, SFP1/WOV/WOE otherwise all had the same weapons - I'd assume it's similiar in the SF2 series). You might have to make a SF2I specific pack. Also, maybe try to keep the naming nomenclature as close to stock as possible...that way your weaponpack won't 'break' stock installs. And standardize the nomenclature, with things like having "AGM-86A, AGM-86B, AGM-86C" vs "AGM-86, AGM86B, AGM-86C". Speaking of which, eliminate rundundancy where possible. I've seen installs where it's the exact same weapon, but has 2 separate designations (one NATO, one non-NATO)...maybe use one specific designation with the other name in parhenthesis. Get rid of older versions of weapons if newer, nicer versions are available (the Hellfire is a prime example). Make sure the weapons dimensions match the LODs. The LGBs are a prime example of a mismatch (I posted something in the KB about that a while ago....). And all you wanted was some suggestions... Anyway, that's a lot so I'll shut up now. Feel free to do anything with the weapons I've created of course, you can even include the SA-5 launcher and radar if you want. I look forward to your weapons pack Gunny! FC

  11. Darrin, I'm not sure what you are asking. Please, can you be more specific in what you want to know? FC
  12. File is unapproved due to not giving credit to the original author. Read the rules in the Freeware accords before attempting to use someone else's work. FC
  13. I very seriously doubt it. Also, I'm pretty sure the patch will do a CRC check and not patch your SF2E install anyway. And besides, why take that risk? FC
  14. They are EOGR weapons...you won't get a drop cue or CCIP. Good skins? Those skins are based on the last pictures I had of them. FC
  15. The project is dead. Just kiddin. Seriously though, continuing to ask isn't going to make it show up any quicker... FC
  16. Question...did you check to see if the bombbay doors are automatic? FC
  17. You are confusing 'broken' with 'not implemented'. If you look at the history of the TW sim series, CPU, GPU, and DirectX evolution, you can see exactly what happened, and why the newest edition (SF2I) is so much faster than the older versions. FC PS Dave, I know how you feel my friend...

Slightly off topic, but most malware will not let you run most anti viral software once infected. It can get complicated real quick on how to rid your computer of the malware. My opinion only, I've only had a computer infected once with any virus. I pretty much exercised the nuclear option on it and did a complete reformat and reinstall. Others here smarter than me can help you with other options less than that. FC
  20. Let me be clear here. When TK releases that patch, it will break your NF4+ install...so don't be getting all giddy yet. FC
  21. I was going to ask the same question...I know WE don't use jetways... FC
  22. I don't build for Gen 1 TW sims anymore...everything is for Gen 2. Dark skin problems are the least of my concerns at the moment. FC
  23. Sounds strange, smells bad, but tastes goooood !

Picky, picky, picky... I grew eating kimchi...questions? FC
