EF-4C for 81 TFS
FastCargo replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Decals: TGA files are graphic files, and so any decent graphics program can view them...GIMP is a decent one. Tweaking the skin can also be done in GIMP. You need to learn it first...it's not intuitive right off the bat. LOD files (the model) cannot be changed once built. You need access to the original MAX file, which can be only be opened by 3ds MAX (sometimes just called MAX) by Autodesk (a 3d editing program that can a cost few hundred to a few thousand dollars depending on the license). Now there are ways to make parts disappear using ini edits, and if you have MAX or know someone with MAX that can help you, you can add parts using the 'Pilot' method. I've been testing the NotAllowedWeapon parameter and I can't seem to get it to work either. Question, why don't you just not load the weapon? You can either manually not load it, or edit the LOADOUT.INI file to force load the specific weapon you want. Another techique is to have 2 weapon stations for the same pylon position. In other words, one weapon station would only be for bombs, and the other would only be for ARM missiles, with specific LoadLimit, DiameterLimit and LengthLimit for each weapon station. FC -

Bad things man...bad things. It says in the Nato Fighters readme that it is a stand alone install. You messed up your install of Nato Fighters/WOE by installing that weapons pack (whichever one you used). I would recommend uninstalling WOE, deleting everything, then reinstall WOE, patch, then Nato Fighters...and nothing else. FC -
I will say having over a decade of flying an aircraft with a B10 handgrip...there are FAR superior grips out there. Once we converted over to the C model with the new HOTAS setup, I never looked back (was dual qual for a while). And from a human factors standpoint, the B10 has several issues. Modern sticks are better overall, while adding the functionality required by modern aircraft. Also, I think once the word gets out, there might be more folks that'll jump ship than you think. Just the fact that it has 2 unique things NO other stick currently made has (split throttles and force feedback), combined with ease of use/programming will cause many people to rethink. Also, compared to CH and TM, it's competitively priced. Unless it turns out to be absolute junk, I'm with Rugg...I think Logitech is going to sell a BUNCH of these. FC

All my weapons are gone.....

Which weapons pack...some of them are significantly out of date and will not work with a patched install. FC -

Did you add a weapons pack before or after installing Nato Fighters? Nato Fighters is designed as an all in one stand alone install. Any other combination will cause problems. FC -
Nice to see someone besides TM and CH in the hardcore HOTAS game. Makes me pine for the days when I had the time...flying with a true HOTAS is awesome...and FF to boot! Thanks for the review Rugg! FC

I've never been satisfied with an electric, it never seems to get close enough compared to a blade. I can usually get away with once a day. Downside of course is that you need to refill your supplies (blades and shaving cream) fairly regularly. FC

How quiet (or loud) is the MV-22?
FastCargo replied to Thog10's topic in Military and General Aviation
I've seen it fly around before...didn't seem to be any louder or quieter relatively speaking compared to any other twin rotor helo. But that's subjective on my part, I haven't been exposed to too many twin helos to form a good comparison. FC -

Depends on the model. For the F-15C and D models, the CFTs can be selected (they are part of the LOD, but can be selected in the loadout screen). For the other models that have them (E model and later) they are part of the model and cannot be unselected. In the case of the SE and R models, loadouts will have to proceed a bit differently due to the internal CFT bays (details pending). For those who are unsure here...each model you see in the screenshot is a different LOD. There are physical differences between each aircraft requiring a different LOD (exception being the Japanese Eagles which use the C and D LODs, the CFTs have simply been removed via a data.ini edit). There is actually a C model that the Saudi's use, but since it doesn't even have a different designation, it just uses a Saudi skin and gets an entry in the USERLIST for the C model. FC -

More than likely no. Those were A models (of which we aren't doing because there is an excellent one available in SF2E) and that paint scheme was very short lived from the introduction of operational service (Nov 74) to when the first Compass Ghost schemes start rolling off the line in St. Louis (Oct 75).
