  1. I was wrong about American beer

So you're saying you've drank carbonated piss? FC
  2. Because SFG and the WOx series did not implement GPS homing properly. That has now been fixed. However, this also means certain weapons are now broken. In the older series, GPS homing was treated as an extension of TV/IR homing, therefore moving targets could be engaged. I used this guidance system to simulate using a millimeter wave radar that the actual Brimstone and AGM-114L Hellfire use. However, now GPS homing is more true to actual implementation, which means the weapon now guides onto a coordinate, not a particular object. That's why your missiles are hitting where the target was, not where it is. What's that mean? Any weapons currently using GuidanceType=8 that are meant to engage mobile targets must now use a different guidance type. I've switch mine to GuidanceType=6, and that seems to have fixed the issue. 3. You can overstress both (engines and airframe) depending on the aircraft. FC

Your broadcaster messed up...sorry to say. FC
  5. T-38 stuff?

I do have some patches, the few I can give away because I have redundant sets include the 87th FTS, 96th FTS, a few others of squadrons that have or are currently flying the T-38. Hours patches of course I can sell...and I can sell them at a discount from what you see on the website (no shipping cost). You wouldn't have to start as a FAIP to get that many hours in a T-38, there still are fairly clever ways to do so. For me, I wasn't a FAIP, but I did a tour as a SUPT instructor when I was young and single after a tour of Bones. But I've also flown T-38s while I was flying B-1Bs, and have flown T-38s in ACC, and fly T-38s as a part time reservist and I have 3000+ hours already. Heck if you do the math, in theory you could hit 4000 hours by 20 years if you only flew 20 flights per month for 10 months out of a year. You start going cross country and the hours REALLY start adding up. Nope, IFF and SUPT T-38Cs are all the same aircraft, software, etc. All T-38s in AETC (T-38As and AT-38Bs) have been converted to this common standard. Only the paint scheme is different. The weapons training is all virtual. Now that the T-38C has a GPS/INS and radar altitmeter, you can either designate or preload a target/targets into the computer and it will show up as a diamond caret in the HUD. When you start your attack run and 'pickle', the computer in the aircraft basically takes all the conditions (wind, temp, alt, aircraft parameters, etc) and calculates where the bombs or gun would have hit in reference to the target. It's sort of like a simulator, except you're still manuvering a real aircraft. I don't particularly agree with this philosophy...there's something visceral about dropping real iron or shooting a real gun that 'trons can't duplicate. FC
  6. RIP F-22

The idea of a westernized Su-27 derivative is interesting, but not viable. There is still cost to consider...any variant wouldn't be cheap by the time everything is said and done. Upgrading avionics is cost effective if the airframes are paid for. If you're paying for the airframes and avionics and integration and setting up a new logistics train and working out the R&D...it's not cheap. Second, the Su-27 series is not on par with the F-22 in terms of things like stealth, sensor integration, etc. The F-22 is a true 5th generation aircraft...don't let the newsies try to tell you otherwise. F-15 replacement...sure, but not an adequate F-22 replacement. Finally, the F-22 cost quoted usually always rolls in the R&D cost. But that's misleading because the R&D has ALREADY BEEN PAID FOR. Each additional airframe is much less expensive. FC
  7. T-38 stuff?

Yep, I actually met him when he did his B-1B book (signed my copy of it). I've also got his YF-17 book, very nice. When I was redoing the F-111s, I found out he had written a book on the F-111, but I couldn't find it at the time... FC
  8. Yep, that's the one Silverbolt was talking about...it held a lot of promise...too bad it was never expounded on. That's something modders and skinners could REALLY use. FC
  9. I've got some good close up pics of those pylons if you need them KB. FC
  10. Expect to see improvements soon (thanks Dels)! FC
  11. T-38 stuff?

Well slap my ass and call me Spanky...there is a new model of the T-38 out...2 of them in fact! A 1/48 and 1/72 scale T-38 by Sword...never heard of them til now (I've been out of the plastic model thing for a while). Looking at pictures of completed models, they look better then the models previously mentioned....though they still have problems. Hmmm...may have to go shopping... FC PS Double hmmm...seems like the PMP mod kits are scheduled for a Oct/Nov 09 release....
  12. T-38 stuff?

To paraphrase The Road Warrior: "You wanna know about the T-38? You talk to me." To get you started: Don Logan's book "Northrop T-38 Talon - A Pictorial History." - http://www.amazon.com/Northrops-T-38-TALON...523&sr=1-13 Warbird Tech Series F-5/F-20/T-38 - http://www.amazon.com/Northrop-F-5-F-20-T-.../ref=pd_sim_b_1 The Nasa Northrop T-38: Photographic Art from an Astronaut Pilot - http://www.amazon.com/Nasa-Northrop-T-38-P...0603&sr=1-1 Willy Peters Uncovering the NORTHROP (A)T-38 A/C TALON - http://www.amazon.com/NORTHROP-T-38-TALON-..._pr_product_top Except for the NASA one (which looks sweeet), I have all the rest...the Don Logan book in particular having a lot of pictures of paint schemes you probably won't see ANYWHERE else. There are no good 1/72 scale models of the T-38 available. Hasagawa made one a long time ago, and was one of their first models...but sadly, it's a really a misshapen F-5B. It's pretty bad, and the Chinese/Korean copies made since then are from the same mold and are just as bad. There is a 1/48 scale model around (Italari) which is better, though the cockpit is badly bare and the nose is too flat. Also, I think the scale is slightly off (like a 1/50th in actuality). I have a few patches, though no spares of some of the unique ones. Also, a shameless bit of self promotion: http://www.talonhours.com. FC
  13. Buzz Aldrin - A man's man

Actually, this is an old incident...I forget exactly when it happened. Doesn't make it any less awesome though. FC

  15. Though you do piss me off on a regular basis , usually the reason someone doesn't jump in to help with a request is because they're too busy with their own projects, or they just aren't interested enough, or like me, don't have the skinning chops. You win some, you lose some. Everyone tends to have their own areas of interest and rarely stray outside of it unless it's something they're interested in themselves. I'm honestly surprised ghostrider883 hasn't jumped in, it's right up his alley. FC
  16. Look for my thread on the performance of SF2 on Win7, Vista, and XP. The short version is...if I had the choice between Vista and 7, 7 wins hands down. Between XP and 7, it's more of a tossup...however, the performance gains with the enbseries mod will ONLY work on Win7/Vista, it does not appear to work on XP at all. FC
  17. one small step for a man

Uh, no. I think your broadcaster messed up. http://www.snopes.com/quotes/onesmall.asp FC
  18. It isn't weird, the rail is the problem. That's why I wanted to see the Brimstones on the Brimstone weapon rail on other aircraft to verify it's the rail and not the aircraft. I've noticed that sometimes when a weapon rail is first imported into SF2 and used the first time, it screws with the data.ini and put's in some weird rotation angles. I'll bet if you look in the data.ini of the Brimstone rail, you'll see the attachment angle parameter has a ridiculous value on one of the axis. Fix that value (the only angle that should be something other than zero is the pitch angle...negative single digit...just don't remember what that value is). That should fix your problem. In addition, as far as I know, the Brimstone only mounts on it's specific rail and is not supposed to use any other rail. FC
  19. UAVs aren't smart enough to understand the 3 laws. UAVs also have some serious limitations under present technology...you just don't hear about them. FC
  20. Not the proper rack. Use the dedicated Brimstone rack as on the Typhoon. Then show me a screenshot. FC
  21. Show me a picture of the Brimstones on the correct 3 rail pylon on another aircraft...I suspect I know the issue. FC
  22. If you simply want to add them without an external model, it's simple data.ini changes. Find an aircraft that has them and simply copy and paste the entries (both the SystemName and actual entries). Obviously you'll have to do some adjustments on location and direction/velocity of ejection. FC
