F-102 Delta Dagger by Veltro2k
FastCargo replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Actually...I can fix it or can show Ed how to fix it if there are enough animation slots. FC -
F-102 Delta Dagger by Veltro2k

Only problem is that the AI will fire through the aircraft with this method. Just a note. FC -
Do TW sims run on 64bit OS's ?
FastCargo replied to Ruiner29's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If you're using the Aug 06 patch, your chances for any TW sim NOT working in Vista are much higher. Almost all the Vista problems (32 and 64 bit) were solved with the Oct 08 patch. FC -

KB, Didn't know you had lost your son my friend...I'm sorry to hear about that. FC

I'd REALLY love to see these 'studies' he quoted. Because I've seen other studies that show kids who do homework, especially those who's families got involved (help, QC, etc), did MUCH better in school. Ever wonder why Asians as a group do better in school? Guarantee it's because they do their homework... Also, good luck passing any sort of serious training (flying, med school, etc) without putting in some skull sweat on your off time. FC

How can I build a working SAM
FastCargo replied to Erwin_Hans's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Download the S-200. It's a complete stand alone system I built some time ago and is a good starting point to figure out how SAMs work and how to build one. FC -
Pivot problems
FastCargo replied to KnightWolf45's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Very rarely do you need to animate a flight control. Okay, do the following steps: 1. Unlink the parts from the 'parent' meshes. 2. Save your file. 3. Select the particular mesh you are having problems with. 4. Goto the far right tab, click on it and look for the 'Reset XForm' button. Select the 'Reset XForm' button. Select the 'Reset Selection' button. 5. Assuming nothing strange has happened, select the tab that looks like a box with 3 boxes underneath (the Heirarchy tab). If something strange has happened, then just reload your file and try again. 6. Select the 'Affect Pivot Only' button. Select the 'Transform' button. 7. Move and align the pivot the way you want. 8. Relink your mesh. 9. If everything looks okay. save your file. 10. Repeat steps 1 to 9 for each mesh. 11. Save your file. 12. Export and try it out. I would recommend for each flight control entry always having the following lines: RotationAxis=Z-AXIS ReverseModelOrientation=TRUE Also, I would initially have them the same in every entry (ie they always say X-AXIS and FALSE). Then test, find out which controls need an axis change (write down as you test). Change the axis until they are correct. THEN go and change the orientation if you need to. That's the fastest way to troubleshoot. FC -
Heavy Bombers vs. Placement
FastCargo replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, bombers bring weight and range to the fight. In addition, they are considered HVAAs (High Value Air Assets), so there really isn't any reason to have bombers based anywhere near the front lines. FC -
Takeoff pitch up in WOE/ WOV
FastCargo replied to Happymeal's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, some aircraft fly off the ground by being 'pulled' up. Others, the nose rotates early to freeze in position, then the aircraft gets airborne once it reaches flying airspeed. FC -
F-102A
FastCargo replied to pappychksix's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Well, if everyone involved is a signatory to the Freeware Accords (sounds so official) I don't see why we couldn't release it as an 'all in one' (model, FM, skins). FC -
Pivot problems
FastCargo replied to KnightWolf45's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The model may be correct, but you may need to go into the data.ini and specify which axis to use for rotation. I'm not on my computer at the moment but here is an example: Note the parameter in bold. Your options are X-AXIS, Y-AXIS, or Z-AXIS. FC -
FastCargo's F-5F
FastCargo replied to EricJ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Eric, I'll get those skins to you that Pappychksix made. Also, I have an updated drag chute skin that has more detail, and a way to set it up for the AI to use on landing. FC -
I've done both, and while a love driving a manual...in stop and go traffic, it's a bear, especially on hills. It's not difficult, just annoying. However, more modern technologies have allowed better and better 'manumatics'. Hell, even our Mazda5 microvan has one, and it's actually fun if you can believe it (Zoom, Zoom). FC

0.8 mach at 40k? In a piston power A/C? That IS impressive by any stretch. FC

Hate to say it, but there is a reason Toyota and Hondas are ubiquitious in parking lots...they're relatively inexpensive to buy and keep. Check Consumer Reports if you don't believe me. Personally I'd love a GT500KR convertible or a WRX STi (if I was feeling a bit more practical). FC

FastCargo's F-5F
FastCargo replied to EricJ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Hey guys, I've asked EricJ to take over for the F-5F, Saeqeh. I've got a few things for them (mainly just a final LOD and a few ini tweaks). I'm still the primary POC for the T-38 though...just tweaking your PSDs a bit there KB. Thanks guys, I just need someone else to head up a few of the projects, my motivation is too low to delve into anything that requires significant concentration or leadership. FC -
First, being in a cloud without an attitude indicator is a bad idea, period. Second, you don't have to be in a cloud to be slammed around by it's turbulence, especially near a front...so flying the gaps isn't a good idea. Third, it's a known fact that convective activity in the higher latitudes can be just as severe as the lower ones, even if the cloud tops aren't as high (translation - a TS in Europe at FL250 can be just as dangerous as a TS in Mexico at FL600). So you don't have to have a super tall puffy to be in danger. Fourth, assuming most WWI fighters didn't weigh much more than a rigid frame ultralight, I'd stay away from any cumulus...stratus might be okay, unless I saw a 'sea crest' like effect in them, that's usually a bad sign. Phantom .. Spectre ?
FastCargo replied to fougamagister's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Actually it's pretty simple with the Oct08 patch and later. Use the 'SpecificStationCode' parameter in the Spectre and the 'gunpod' so that only the Spectre can load it. Or better yet, use the 'pilot' method to add the gunpod LOD to the Spectre, and make the guns part of the data.ini. That way they always load and no other aircraft can use them. FC -

Two planes from one
FastCargo replied to warthog64's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
There isn't a fix per se. AI planes don't collide with each other, just with you. However, what probably happened is that the there were 2 separate formations where 2 aircraft intersected. It's not common, but it happens. FC -
Actually, in reality, if you go into a cloud in an aircraft without an attitude indicator, you are gambling with your life. Spatial disorientation has killed a lot of aviators over the years. FC
