My Projects (EricJ)
FastCargo replied to EricJ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
If that's a comment on how I map my projects...yep, my mapping is inefficient. I map the way I do because it makes it easier for potential texture artists to understand what is being mapped, and how the maps relate to each other. If it means there's extra space, so be it. You want to provide lessons, start your own thread...don't hijack this one. FC -

I thought about that...decided that what I've done works great on my system, which is over 3 years old...so most everyone else should be fine. FC -

So what if it's true. End users can fix their own texture resolutions. Fixing polygons is a whole other story. Best to get the grunt work out of the way on the front end. FC -

While Eric gets 'settled', I've been doing some other work. So what's the difference between these 4 Growlers: Answer? About 35000 polygons! I've been working to try to reduce the poly count for those with slower/older computers (like mine). What you see is the result. Doing this isn't as easy as it sounds (you just can't go to town using MultiRes). The heirarchy must remain the same, as well as the part names...otherwise NONE of the LODs will show up. In this example, you'll note only small stuff was deleted/reduced in the second shot, but the third and fourth, there was major rebuilding of some structures. I'd even go so far to say that the second model would work for most people...the first one would only be for those with screaming machines if they want more than one aircraft on their screen in that poly count. Anyway, did this for all models, including AHM rails and drop tanks. FC -

For some reason this topic won't let me move it to the correct forum. I'll let one of the admins know. Interesting info by the way. FC -
Exactly what Fates said...been there, done that! FC

And how many years of flying experience do YOU have? You will note all the pilots on this board...especially those with LOTS of experience, will tell you the exact same thing...the cause is not officially determined until the investigation is complete. You'd be surprised by what pops up. FC

No a2a missiles for enemy a/c
FastCargo replied to hotrodss's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Simple. Make sure the aircraft loadout.ini, your weapondata.ini, and the campaign data.ini all match in terms of air to air missiles. If one of them doesn't match, guess what...no missiles. FC -
Condolences and a prayer for their families. FC PS And a note of caution here. Unless you're on the NTSB investigation board, you don't know exactly what happened. Period. Statements such as "100% sure" after 1 day are unwarranted, and frankly, irresponsible.

Craptastic! FC -
No kiddin...I was surprised how heat a LCD TV can put out...I'd be outright scared of a plasma. Also, I notice Samsung seems to be the large monitor/TV of choice (We have one). They're about the only guys left that still make a PC input for their large LCD TVs... Rugg, seriously nice setup man! Hell, the sim I use in my military job isn't that sweet.... FC

The 'Dear Boss' letter has popped up from time to time...and every time you read it, it seems like it was just written....not that it's 30 years old. Interesting article though. FC -

X RAY, This thread is about the FM. Your crashes are due to something else. You may want to start a new thread on it. FC -
Perhaps the last thread I ever start about Thirdwire avionics
FastCargo replied to GwynO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I will also say that although your points are valid, continuing to bring them up over and over goes from being informative to being irritating. It becomes the same as your kid in the car saying "Are we there yet?" every 30 seconds. FC -
WOV Essentials
FastCargo replied to Viggen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You'll lose some of the enhancements added in the recent patch, including much better enemy AI. Green Hell 2 at full tilt can affect your frame rates quite a bit if your computer is a few years old. Same thing if you download the enhanced explosions or the bloom mod. Most other stuff (aircraft, widesky, etc) I haven't noticed too much of a slowdown. FC -

Sorry I haven't said anything a while...been busy with the family. I will tell you that the final enhancement I'm working on, is pretty cool. A few bugs to work out...but I think you'll like it. I haven't had a chance to send new files to the guys because of the bug fixing. FC
